What are you reading?

Just finished that last night. As with you, not my usual genre, but the series is pretty good.

Trust me, I've done that way too many times while reading book. The characters and the development of the plot became pretty confusing...
Hi all the book by brian keene was not good at all boring. I am reading james patterson hide and seek

I was one that loved "Wuthering Heights". It's kind o..."
I'm glad you felt that way about WH, Paula. I hope I feel that way too someday...I don't really enjoy not liking books, for that matter.

Really good read... Interesting twists and twists"
Good to know...the sales rep at borders recommended it and I wasn't really sure at first!!

I would love to hear your thoughts on Little Bee, I read it last year and it completely blew me away. I am really looking forwrad to whatever Chris Cleave does next.

Dreamers of the Day: A Novel is also coming along. It's well told but I wish there was more of Agnes' story and less of the politics of setting up the Middle East.
I've started listening to The Hunger Games and am nearing the end of the second disc. I may be the only person not really impressed with this book. It's very slow moving and lots of explanations of very obvious things. I'm hoping the story will start to hurry along soon. The premise is certainly interesting.

Hope you like The Last Olympian! I really enjoyed all the installments in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

Yep! I already poured through that discussion yesterday while killing some time at work! I might add some thoughts when i finish.

I'm about a third of the way through George Bernard Shaw's Heartbreak House. I'm not enjoying it as much as I did Pygmalion.

I agree, Linda. Coben is a consistent good read. I met him at a book festival and listened to his talk, and he doesn't disappoint in person either.

I also ordered Incendiary as soon as I was done with Little Bee, but haven't managed to read it yet. I think I felt the same way you did at the end of Little Bee. Little Bee herself was incredibly humourous in th face of such tragedy, and the whole trajectory of the story was so unexpected and beautifully written. I think Chris Cleave is destined for big things.

The Last Olympian was easily my favourite book inthe Percy Jackson series. I must admit that the other books always left me with a sense of disappointment, I expected them to be much better written than they were. The Last Olympian however, was a great way to end the series.

Kat, you might like Ten Cents a Dance by Christine Fletcher; it's set in Chicago in 1941, just prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and is about a young girl who works as a taxi dancer.

I'v just started reading Pope Joan: A Novel by Donna Woolfolk Cross. Has anyone else read it? What do you think?

i really liked The Eight but haven't read the sequel yet. i just wish i knew more about chess though!

It was the perfect ending, wasn't it? :)

Hi KarenLee, I read Pope Joan with my in person book group and really enjoyed it. The description of the time period was terrific and many of the characters were very interesting. Even if you don't quite believe the entire story is possible a good bit was based of very real people and events.

Thanks Mary!!! I added it to my never-ending TBR list!!!
I am starting The Resurrectionist by O'Connell. It's about a little boy in a coma, and a comic book that he loved called LIMBO. So far, so good!

Now I have to decide what's next, but plenty of choices!!

I've started reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and think this one will be good. It starts out very well.
One more Episode of Ulysses left to read. I'll finish it over the weekend. I recommend this book. It's really dense and hard to read but well worth it. There's a lot happening in these pages.

Jessica, so happy to hear that you liked OHB by Maugham. Talk about bleak, depressing, obsessive love, huh!

Just started The Eight"
How did you like The Mists of Avalon, Jeane? Thats on my TBR shelf.

I thought it was a fun fast read. I ended up looking for the whole set, because I enjoyed them.
