What are you reading?
i finished Very Valentine from Adriana Trigiani today, and i really enjoyed it.i'll start The Last Dickens from Matthew Pearl tonight or tomorrow. i read his The Dante Club a few months ago and it was a fantastic story. i'm not a huge Dickens fan, but i'm hoping this one is still an entertaining read for me.

Eliza, I have an author interview on my blog with John Connolly. If you liked Book of Lost THings, you really should check out his newest - The Gates!

Take it from me... WH doesnt get any better. It's best to leave it and never look back :)

carol (akittykat) wrote: "I have to get that one. I have read all of his so far. Who is your favorite character,Marti" I really like Cotton Malone... I like Henrik too. It is out in hard cover, I have been in line at the library. The historical story was not as prominent as it has been. More stunts for Cotton this time. Which was your favorite book?
I am reading Not My Daughter by Barbara Delinsky. Premise - three best friends age 17 get pregnant.
I can't think of the woman who is Henriks side kick . I like her . I think so far The Alexandria Link is out in front, although I have liked them all.

Oh, but Lori, I've also heard some very good things about it; people seem to love this book. It doesn't help that I already bought the book, and it's going to sit on my desk for months, waiting to be read.
Bhumi, Each to their own, right? I agree that a very many people out there enjoyed this novel and some even consider it a favorite. I just have to scratch my head and wonder what the heck I was reading then :)

carol (akittykat) wrote: "I can't think of the woman who is Henriks side kick . I like her . I think so far The Alexandria Link is out in front, although I have liked them all."Her name escapes me too - maybe Cassandra Witt? She was not in this novel at all.
I'm currently doing a reread of Second Helpings by Megan McCafferty whilst trying to finish Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk.

Cassiopeia Witt that is one of my favorite characters.
I just finished The Unseen by Alexandra Sokoloff and was a bit "meh" about it. I'm now reading Audrey's Door by Sarah Langan. It already has the potential to be a better haunted house story than The Unseen.

I can't wait to really get into it. I have been reading a good bit of WWII settings lately, and I LOVE them!
Kat wrote: "Started Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet"I finally caved and bought this tonight, after two months of eyeing it, but know I won't get to it right away. Too much going on right now, and at least two book commitments to fill before end of the month. Why can't I just stay home all day and read??
The View From Castle Rock - Alice MunroDreaming in Stereo - Steven Broderick
This Year in Jerusalem - Mordecai Richler
Just started Two Rivers by T. Greenwood yesterday and am about 2/3 of the way through it already. Just can't seem to put it down.
I'm almost done with Ulysses (200 pages left) and I've also started Tipping the Velvet, which has been slow paced but enjoyable.
carol (akittykat) wrote: "Cait are you finding Ulysses worth the struggle?"Absolutely. It's definitely had it's ups and downs, but I'm already glad that I challenged myself to read it. I plan on popping back in to the discussion thread as soon as I'm finished with Episode 15 (Circe).
I have just started 13 1/2 by Nevada Barr. It is my turn! Even though I requested it before the library even had it, it still took forever to arrive. Anyway, I'm excited!

I just read that one this month. It was really good. Enjoy!

Finished The Mists of Avalonand still reading The Color Purple and a book in Spanish.Just started The Eight
Just finished The Name of the Wind which is one of the best fantasy books i have ever read. I can't wait for the second in the trilogy to come out. If you are a fantasy fan, I highly recommend trying this one on! Am now half way through Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and am finding it quite enjoyable to read. The imaginative descriptions and questions and language of the little boy have really helped to paint such a colorful story.
For me, its more about the little boy as a wondrous, exploring character than about the underlying plot of the story. But again, am only halfway!
I'm reading Catching Fire. I don't know what it is about this series but I can't seem to say no to these books. Not my usual genre but I'm racing through this one.

The characters and the development of the plot became pretty confusing...

I'm glad you felt that way about WH, Paula. I hope I feel that way too someday...I don't really enjoy not liking books, for that matter.

Good to know...the sales rep at borders recommended it and I wasn't really sure at first!!
Beth wrote: "I just started reading Little Bee by Chris Cleave"I would love to hear your thoughts on Little Bee, I read it last year and it completely blew me away. I am really looking forwrad to whatever Chris Cleave does next.
I just finished The Last Olympian, Percy Jackson #5, and although it was enjoyable I am kind of glad to be done with that series. I just started The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, the last in Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy. January is all about closure for me:)
Just finished Two Rivers by T. Greenwood this morning. What a great book; thoroughly gripping with that "won't let you go" impact. Gave it a 4.5.
I've got one episode of Ulysses left to read. This book has really surprised me at it's depth and motion and characters. So much is inferred by the writing style that it makes for slow reading. I'm glad we're having the Read-Along. I don't know if I would have gotten through it without the discussions and everyone's input.Dreamers of the Day: A Novel is also coming along. It's well told but I wish there was more of Agnes' story and less of the politics of setting up the Middle East.
I've started listening to The Hunger Games and am nearing the end of the second disc. I may be the only person not really impressed with this book. It's very slow moving and lots of explanations of very obvious things. I'm hoping the story will start to hurry along soon. The premise is certainly interesting.
Monef, I finished Little Bee yesterday and I loved it. It was very emotional and really got me thinking about what I'd do if I were in the same situation Sarah was in. It also got me thinking about how people seeking political asylum are treated. The book may have been fictional but it was quite eye opening. I'm definitely going to read Incendiary also by Chris Cleave and I hope he writes another book soon. I really cared about the characters and Little Bee is a book that will remain with me.

Finished The Graveyard Book last night and now I'm going to be reading Eragon and a couple graphic novels to get rid of a couple of quick reads sitting beside my bed.
I'm about a third of the way through George Bernard Shaw's Heartbreak House. I'm not enjoying it as much as I did Pygmalion.
