I thought it was one of his classics. Not to my taste though. He is not someone I care to read. I can't read Patterson's Cross series , to violent for me. I do like other books by him.

I am half way through Lavender Morning. I am enjoying the main characters. They are strong and funny.
I just finished
. I dont know what to start next. I have some Evanovich books, im only missing like 3 of them and its not until like the 8th book so i guess i could start them!

Lori,
Dexter by Design was just ok for me. It was an improvement from book 3 for sure, but this one didn't really do it for me either. The show is awesome, but the books are starting to fall flat in my opinion.
Am reading THREE CUPS OF TEA: ONE MAN'S MISSION TO PROMOTE PEACE....ONE SCHOOL AT A TIME by Greg Mortenson and am loving it.
I've finally picked up Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 1-4 from my shelf and started reading it. It's been on my TBR list I think for the past year or two and I'm glad I'm finally getting to it =D
Hey all,I just joined the group and thought I'd add my what are you reading...
I just finished Club Dead (3rd book in Sookie Stackhouse series) and I'm definately intrigued as to how it's going to play out in the series.
I am currently reading the second volume of the Night World Series by LJ Smith. I'm not loving it so it's taking a while, just because all the stories are the same. I got sucked into the YA series reading this summer, so I figured I'd finish the series and explore more adult books :)
I decided to start One for the Money last night, i am 50 pages in and loving it. i am missing books 6 and 11, and the last one i have is 13 so if there are any newer im missing those too.. but i figure i can find either of those at goodwill or just buy them whenever i get to them

I agree, not a favorite of mine, but still worth a read!

Finally finished Never Let Me Go. Weird, but I liked it. Going to try and read The Sandman Vol. 7: Brief Lives and then start The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
I'm currently reading The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. It's my first book of hers and I'm loving it. It's starting to get nice and creepy.I'm also a quarter of the way through Ulysses and, surprisingly enough, I'm really enjoying it so far. It definitely take effort and concentration on my part, but the payoff when things "click" with me is worth it. My favorite episodes so far are those from Bloom's perspective. Episode 7, in the newspaper office, was the first episode I didn't care for.
Cait, I absolutely loved The Little Stranger - I'm a big Sarah Waters fan, though, so it's interesting to hear people's reactions who haven't read her other stuff. I stayed home with a cold yesterday and picked up Sweetness in the Belly - I quickly forgot about my sniffles and aches. Really enjoying this, it's beautifully written and very vividly rendered.

i just finished The Little Stranger. i thought her style of writing and the way the story unfolds - slowly and with grace building the suspense - really suited the time period in which the story takes place. it reminded me a lot of an old black and white Hitchcock movie like Rebecca. i really enjoyed it.
I read her two others as well and enjoyed them, i wish Baby Proof stuck with those same characters but I still want to get it since i liked her others. I cant wait to see what you think!

I completely agree. Her sense of pacing is dead on and her subtlety serves to make the story that much more eerie.

I had a feeling I would like her. :o) I'm glad, because I've been looking forward to reading Fingersmith and Affinity as well.

It's certainly a harder book to read but by taking it in episodes, it's not bad at all.
FINALLY. It is my turn. I have been waiting and waiting and today - at the library I was able to check out for two weeks --- ready The Last Symbol... All other reading needs to be put to the side.... wohoo wohoo wohoo
Callista wrote: "The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. So far it is really amazing. :)"i *loved* this story. very different style of story, but such a good read.
i started The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly yesterday. not too far into it, but it seems ok so far.
Still reading Her Fearful Symmetry. Loving it so far! Snow day tomorrow in Omaha... AGAIN... so lots of time for reading!!
I am like 40 pages away from the end of One for the Money. I've love love loved the book so far, I'll be taking the second one to work with me tomorrow to read on my break.

"I found myself laughing out loud at some parts of these books!! I so look forward to each one as it comes out!
I'm finally getting around to reading The Hunger Games and I'm also still reading American Gods. I am trying my best to not give up on the latter, as I'm already more than halfway through the book, but right now I feel like it's still not going anywhere.
Just finished Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger! I loved it! Now on to something different... maybe The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe!

LOL It's just written so well you can picture every little thing, the only reason i havent read them sooner was i was waiting til i got the last two books i needed to complete it but i figured i might as well just go ahead and start reading them, that'd knock out a good chunk of books in my TBR pile when i finished them and im flying through them so far! I'm going to start book 2 on my lunch break today and I can't wait!
Just finished Four Freedoms: A Novel and enjoyed it. Initially, it was a bit technical but then I got very drawn into the characters and how they dealt with the domino effect of war. I've just started Little Boys Come from the Stars.
I started
Velva Jean Learns to Drive: A Novel
I got it from Amazon's bargain section on an impulse a while ago. I like how it's starting.

Good of r you Fiona! I love when books grab you right from the start. The Crossing Places doesn't do that. It is not a bad book per say, it's moving along but I just wish that I "couldn't put it down". But I guess we all feel like that with every book we tackle.
I started Home Safe by Elizabeth Berg yesterday and am already more than half way through it. I have always liked Berg's novels and this one is just such an easy read. I know it hasn't gotten rave reviews, but I am really enjoying the pace.
This is my first time posting! Sorry for the excitement :)I'm reading The Likeness by Tana French. I'm 20% in (says Kindle). I just finished In the Woods, and usually I enjoy reading "series" back-to-back, but I'm struggling to find the sequel-ness in this book. I like the book, and French's writing, but for some reason I'm still so bothered by the ending of the first book, that I'm tentative to get too involved in this one. It's like a rebound relationship!
I'm now reading Anna Karenina as a part of my goal to read a good chunk of Russian lit this winter. It is so far much better than War and Peace.
I've somehow started a lot of books lately!I'm still on Ulysses. Although it's hard reading, I'm surprised that it's not bad either. It's a book that needs more than one reading, though. Joyce put a lot into the pages and the reader can only absorb a bit at a time.
Beside a Burning Sea is a nice alternative to Ulysses and I'm reading that in between. It's nice to read a book that I can actually understand completely. LOL!
On audio, I'm listening to The Blood of Flowers: A Novel, which I'm really enjoying.
I've put Blindness and Wuthering Heights to the side for now. There's only so many stories I can follow at one time. I'm itching to get back to Wuthering Heights but will finish Ulysses first. I'm starting to enjoy the story of Blindness but still struggle with the writing style. I will get back to it, though, after finishing Beside The Burning Sea.
I'm gonna put aside The Eleventh Man because I just got Pirate Latitudes from the library. I haven't started it yet, but I will today.
Marti wrote: "Kristin wrote: "I am like 40 pages away from the end of One for the Money. I've love love loved the book so far, I'll be taking the second one to work with me tomorrow to read on my bre..."I do plan to re-read this series because each book got funnier and more interesting.
