I'm reading Persepolis (Satrapi) for my face-to-face bookclub. I've also started The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet (Larsen) - awesome so far!

Yeah, I'm really liking them so far. :)

Thanks! It might be awhile, I'm reading Pillars of the Earth in between several other books. I usually don't read anything in a series but three books is ok, if I can get through Pillars I can read three books!!
Just finished The Puppet Master by Joanne Owen which was great, interesting with really cute characters.
I will now pick up The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz which might be a little odd to read as it is the first in a series and I already unknowingly read the second in the series. Did enjoy the second though, very funny, so this should be good too.

Got to spend some time reading for the past week and finished A Conspiracy of Paper. Then read Andrea Camilleri's The Shape of Water. Finished that one in only a day. Just starte The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver. About 25% finished with that book.
Just finished Open by Andre Agassi. I loved it! Very well written (by his ghost writer). I laughed out loud at his dad.
I just finished Intensity by Dean Koontz and West of Kabul, East of New York by Tamim Ansary. Liked Intensity, loved West of Kabul.
Just finished Atwood's Alias Grace, which from a plot point of view is not quite satisfying (but the story on which the book is based doesn't come to a satisfactory conclusion either). As always, Atwood's prose is magnificent. Still contemplating the review.
The Reader has finally come to the top of TBR, so I am reading that. Will check out the threads when I am farther along, as I don't want to spoil anything.
Am finishing up Love And War in the Apennines, a memoir of an escaped British POW (WWII) at not-quite-liberty in the Italian mountains. Very nice.

I love Camilleri! You obviously liked it... I've got this one coming up (when?) on TBR. I read them in Italian... how is the translation? I've never tried in English.

I'm currently reading two books:Skipping Christmas by John Grisham, which is the book that was the basis for the movie Christmas with the Kranks, or whatever it was called. I like it so far--it's pretty funny, but right now it's dragging.
Poe's Children, which is an anthology of horror/sci fi short stories from the past decade compiled by Peter Straub. It's fascinating, although I'll admit, not all of the stories have been "my cup of tea." His goal in putting the anthology together was to prove that the horror genre is more than scary monsters, blood, gore, and cheesy covers, but rather is a legitimate literary genre. Thus far, he's done an excellent job at proving his point.

I've read all the Montalbano that are available right now (either in English or French). I'm hoping we get the next one soon.
I'm reading The Silver Needle Murder by Laura Childs. I only have this one and Oolong Dead left to read in that series of cozy mystery.
I'm listening to Running with Scissors A Memoir. Although I think there's a fair amount of exaggeration in this story, it is a very odd upbringing. I read his brother's memoir a few years back and the poor boys had a hard childhood.I had started Portnoy's Complaint but put it down and will return it to the library unfinished. Yawn!!!!
Instead, I picked up Bad Monkeys and am finding it really interesting. I can't decide whether the story being told is (fictionally) happening or whether it's Jane Charlotte's phychotic thoughts. Either way, it's interesting. This is my first Matt Ruff book.
In the background, I'm still plugging away at Ulysses.
Just finished Meltdown by Ben Elton about the credit crunch. Just started Evidence by Jonathan Kellerman. Enjoyed the first and I always enjoy Jonathan.
Thanks to 1 snow storm and 1 blizzard I was able to do a good bit of reading in December. I read White Sky, Black Ice, Dekok and the Dead Harlequin, The Queen's Secret, and Bootlegger's Daughter A Deborah Knott Mystery.

I went to B&N an added to my books to be read. So up first Wuthering Heights. This is a re-read. Next Emma. Ulysses is floating in the background.

I was reading Shakespeare's Christmas but i put it down like 50 pages from the end, i skimmed through like 75 pages of it before i put it down, i just couldn't get into it even though it got good reviews. I dont know what im going to read next

I am reading "Evermore" by Alyson Noel. It's good, sort of remind me of "Twilight" series. I recommend it to those who like the Twilight series.
I'm about sixty pages away from finishing City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. The Christmas season is crazy for me, as I have a fairly huge family, and I haven't had a lot of time to read. I should finish it tonight, though, and be able to start Katherine Howe's The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. City of Bones is pretty good, but it drags at points. I can't wait to pick up Howe's novel, though, so that might be why I feel like I'm just drudging through City of Bones right now...
Jennifer wrote: "Hello!
I have just begun Edward Rutherfurd's New York."
What do you think about the novel so far?
I am reading [Book: The Forest of Hands and Teeth] by Carrie Ryan and The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King.

I just finishes The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and will now read the fourth Percy Jackson book, Battle of the Labyrinth before reading The Girl Who Played with Fire
I finished Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami and just started reading Shawshank Redemption by S. King
The Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies. I do not read Stephen King anymore. His books were to weird for me. There are a few that were good for me.
Listening to 2 right now. One non-fiction Doctor Yourself Natural Healing That Works by Dr. A. Saul. I'm listening to one fiction Once upon a Summer by Janette Oke.Reading Angel Time by Anne Rice, which I'm enjoying.
I started reading The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson last night, but had to put it down because it was two in the morning and I was getting creeped out.
Alisha wrote: "I started reading The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson last night, but had to put it down because it was two in the morning and I was getting creeped out."Creepy, but sooooo good. I loved it.
Physick book was so good! I know what you mean, wanting to finish one book so you can move on to the book that keeps catching your eye. Let me know what you think of Howe's book-I loved it!

Finished Under the Dome;still reading Bleak House; The Cider House Rules;Boy's Life; and The Way of Shadows.would like to finish these before the new year.
I am still reading One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus. Very interesting premise and although I am not quite half way through, I am becoming more entranced with it as I read. First day without company or need to go anywhere and it is flurrying --- back to reading!
I'm almost finished with The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen. I'm enjoying this one much more than her first, Garden Spells.Up next is a non-fiction Hidden Power Presidential Marriages That Shaped Our History. I've been looking forward to this one, and it was finally available at my library.
Lisa, I got both "Garden Spells" and "The Sugar Queen" for my daughter for Christmas. I'm sure she'll love them, I did.
