WH is about a headstrong girl who falls in love with a cruel controlling man but marries the socially acceptable man. Most of the characters are quite despicable and unlikeable.(Though for me that doesn't detract from enjoyment of the book)
JE is about an outcast who survives through her strong will. S he sticks to her principles even when it breaks her heart to do so. And in the process gives us one of the strongest, most feminist characters in classical literature.
For me WH is about passion/obsession while JE is about love.

I haven't heard of the book, so I am going to have to find out more about it.

I have read a few things about the much maligned Richard, this is another view. I am surprised at how old the book is.

It seems as though there's been some major court case in every book of hers I've read (granted only 4).
Christy wrote: "Kristin wrote: "I dont have Sugar Queen yet on my shelf, ive just been buying books as I saw them at Goodwill or online cheap, so i need to get it soon.. As I read more of her books, I became less impressed. They all started to feel the same.

I loved this book. I read for sheer enjoyment so I am not terribly bothered if a book is not historically accurate. So far this is my favorite of Philippa Gregory's but I did enjoy all the others (expect for maybe one).

I agree, very good book. I have the Kite Runner but have not read it yet.
I just finished Love The One You're WithBy Emily Giffin and A Friend Of The FamilyBy Lauren Grodstein. They were both great light reads that grab you emotionally.
Stephanie wrote: "I'm currently reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and I'm completely into it. I loved The Kite Runner, and like this one just as much so far."Stephanie,
If you loved both of Hosseini's books and haven't read Fidali's Way by Goodread's author George Mastras, you might want to give it a try. It was amazing!

I just reached page 92 in Wuthering Heights and am beginning to see where I may start disliking the characters. So far I am still sympathetic towards Heathcliff, and Cathy I am on the fence over. I think if the point of view were different, if it was told from Cathy's point of view or even Heathcliff's, it would be easier to sympathise with them than the way it is told through a third party.
I loved The Other Boleyn Girl. Have you read anything by Allison Weir? She has some great books set in Tudor England as well.

So far so good. It reminds me of stories my husband has of his childhood. They had live in "help" when he was growing up. We live in the south, and so much of this book rings true to that time.
Janet Evanovich Finger Lickin Fifteen47 pages in and something needs to be said for a decapitated head, a security password thief, and a bucket of chicken lol to funny. So far im loving this book, and does it get any better then Lula man i love her. Im sure for the women Ranger isnt bad, I just think Lula is so funny

Which wasn't that good?
Don't judge a book by its cover but I did and it lead me to a backcover summary about smuggling books, a secret library, ...if the book is even jsut like that it should be great! Oh and the book is The Olive Readers
Susanna wrote: "Monday Mourning, by Kathy Reichs."I read that one when it came out. It's one of the good ones. The Montreal background is especially good in this one.
The Shadow of the Wind was wonderful. I'm now reading Le Roman Des Jardin which is so out there and by one of my favourite writer.
Brielle wrote: "Delan wrote: " I have 2 books coming in the mail. The Autobiography of Santa Claus, and To Kill A Mockingbird which will get here first and which should i read first"I loved To Kill A Mockingbird..."
I cant wait for it to get here. I have heard so many good things, and people who love it. I am excited.
Reading What Came Before He Shot Her and The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. I just finished the semester & can't wait to dig into a bunch of books.
Jennifer wrote: "I am reading O Pioneers! by Willa Cather. "Jennifer, is this your first Cather? I've only read A Lost Lady by her, but I really enjoyed it and want to check out her other works. If you've read more by her, I'd love to hear what you enjoyed, but at any rate, I'll be curious to hear your opinion on this one.
Just finished Finger Lickin Fifteen by Janet Evanovich on my MP3 player. These are always a great listen even if the story is typically just a variation on the same old same old. Also completed Breathless by Dean Koontz. At this point I am guessing that Koontz is a great read about every other book. This one was kind of ho hum while I thought his last one, Relentless, was really great.

The Wideacre Trilogy books by Philippa Gregory are good too, although I've only read the first two.
Linda wrote: "I am about 1/3 of the way though The Rooftops of Tehran. So far I like it"What is this book about, Linda? It sounds intriguing.

Excellent book. I think I liked it even more than The Kite Runner if that's possible.
