If the sky isn't grey then you have a possibility to see it. You can also see wembley stadion but also the things nearby are great to see because you see them from above so it gives you a view of what's behind the walls.

Tani | 137 comments I'm reading The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax by Dorothy Gilman, which I'm loving so far. The idea of a lady in her 60s going to the CIA and asking for a job as a spy is just too priceless. :)

Blaine DeSantis I have just begun A Conspiracy of Paper by David Liss. I thoroughly enjoyed his first book, The Coffee Trader, and am hopeful that this will be just as good. Has anyone in this group read the book? If so, what are your thoughts.

Blaine, I read A Conspiracy of Paper not too long ago. It was my first Liss, and I have to say I was disappointed. It didn't keep my attention at all. I wound up giving it 2 stars. Hope you have better luck with it!

Thanks for your candid posting. I so enjoyed The Coffee Trader, and had not known that Liss had written other books. Well, once I found out I bought them and figured now was the time to start. Chapter 1 was OK by me. We will see where it goes!

I thought that same thing..how I would just melt if I was proposed to on it! I was in London for 3 days or so and it was actually sunny all but one afternoon there! I had heard how dreary it would be and it was beautiful!

You can get married in the pods - they were advertising it when I went this summer.

My mother treated me and my family when we visited this year. The view was great but I was more impressed when I climbed St Paul's as a child.

Even so it was wonderful pointing out landmarks and sites of personal interest to hubby and the sproglets.

I am slogging through because he has a wonderful imagination. His descriptions of the strange people and different places are quite vivid and surprisingly not to flowery for me.
My problem is the lack of emotional inner dialogue, in fact the almost total lack of any emotional connections at all. I just don't care enough about the characters or the plot.

message 16517: by Jen (new)

Jen I am reading Fire by Kristen Cashore - the author of Graceling. I loved Graceling so I hope that I really enjoy this one, too. The books I've been picking up lately - some have been good, but some have been real stinkers!

I've had the same problem. The last several books I've picked up to read have just not captured my interest at all. I was beginning to think it was me; like I might be losing interest in reading. GASP!! I finally picked up Second Opinion by Michael Palmer (medical thriller by a favorite author) and so far so good. SIGH of relief!!
I don't watch much TV at all. When I don't have a book to read I get really bored and then the fridge raids start. :)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Just finished [image error] . Wow, what a book. Had me stuck to it over the past 48hrs. This is a great 2nd book for this series. Shows you how Tally and the gang start thinking for themselves and all the trouble they get into lol. Can't wait to see what happens next in the next installment.

I would say 8/10 again for me.

Now I am going to read [image error]

I just read Psyche in a Dress by Francesca Lia Block last night. I've been a long time fan of hers since high school and I wish they would make movies out of her books so young adults could know what young adult literature with substance is like. *cough* twilight *cough cough*

I'll start reading Hitchhikers Guide today.

I know. They are inspired by real poets (one of them being Christina Rossetti). I know that the letters and poetry annoy some readers but I loved them.

I understand what you mean. I got that book out and I threw up in my mouth a little bit and took it back. I NEVER leave a book unfinished either..so I completely understand!!

I'm still trying to read The Book Thief. The story has grabbed me and so have the characters, but the writing style is driving me to extreme levels of insanity. I know everyone loves this book (please don't throw eggs at me!), I just wish he wasn't writing as if the reader only has a 30 second attention span.
