You are in for a treat. Just wait til Ramses grows up... :)

I tried to warn you about that book!
Jayme,
Sorry we don't have the same opinion on that book...I guess I can't be apart of your kingdom! :(
Loving The Stand! :)

Jayme, you've got a valid point, however, I would like to point out that I nor anyone else ever exactly used the word 'hate' in what we said about. I'm an English major, so I know part of the point is that the characters are supposed to be unlikeable! I appreciate it from an academic standpoint, because it raises a lot of interesting questions about race, education, science, technology and the choices we make as humans. So while I appreciate the overall themes, and purpose of the plotline, the characters still annoy me, because I'm human.

I read kind of detective by him ....can't remember the name. First and only book for now I read by him. It was kind of weird but also in a different than normal way good.

Julie, I finished this book on the 18th of November 2008, the day before moving to Ireland, Dublin so a bit more than ayear ago. I loved the book. I think the story is original and very beautiful. The day after finsihing I arrived in Dublin and had so much fun recognizing places which are mentioned in the book!

Now starting The Kalahari Typing School for Men. Loved the previous ones.

Agree with you, Donna. It's quick, easy read and also interesting story.
I just finished Maximum Ride The Angel Experiment and starting Artemis Fowl The Opal Deception. I hope it's good.

I read it back in September and really enjoyed it. Easily one of the good books I've read this year.

It is shaping up to be a sad read I think, so I will put it aside for now. I want something light hearted.
As a few of us will be reading Wuthering Heights in Jan.

I have finish The Precious Stone and have moved on to a First Read book, The Bottchelli Secret by Marina Fiorato.

I would really like to know what you think of this one when you finish. It's on my TBR pile.

That is next on my list to read. My mom's book group read it and she enjoyed it/

Now I am curious what the other book was you were talking about!!!

Hi Lauren. I have the White Oleander on my "to-read" shelf and I'm eager to read your opinion.

White Oleander is such a great read. I want to read it again at some point, and I almost never do that.

I am a big fan of Asimov as was my dad. Be sure to read I, Robot. It is the basis for many, many science fiction stories written since then. Asimov came up with the Law of Robotics, and many (most?) stories that involve robots assume the Law of Robotics.
I've also read his mystery series and enjoyed them. As Jeane said, they're kind of weird, but in a different, good kind of way.

Christine, I highly recommend it!! It was a really great story. I picked it up at BAM last week on the clearance rack.... had seen it mentioned on GR a few times....read the jacket cover and thought why not...... that was all I knew about it.....
I finished it in less than 8 hours..... and when I went to write a review did I find out that Joe Hill is actually Stephen King's son writing under a different name. I am not a King fan.... so I'm glad I didn't know that before... I wouldn't have given it a chance.
It was a fast paced page turner for sure!!

I got a little bored with Friday Night Knitting Club.

Flatland packs a lot of issues into a small book. It's the tale of a being who lives in 2 Dimensions and his experiences in 0, 1 & 3 Dimensions. Beyond that, it tells of a very brutal and rigid society; one of social classes, customs and expectations. I found it a bit hard to get into because of, all, the, commas. Very Victorian. My copy was the one with squares on the cover and it included an introduction telling about the author and his times, as well as a glossary of terms which was really helpful. The book was originally published anonymously by "A. Square". LOL!
The Stupidest Angel was a fun, wacky, zany story that was really refreshing and amusing to listen to (audio).
I`m currently reading The Manticore, which is the second book in The Deptford Trilogy. I`m really enjoying these books set in first a small Canadian town and then Toronto.
And, finally, I`m listening to The White Tiger during my commutes to/from work and am really enjoying it so far.
