Quite a few like it. I don't know if I want to invest in that genre.
I just started two new books: The Lady Elizabeth A Novel by Alison Weir AND Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

I absolutely loved The Time Traveler's Wife and pretty much hated Her Fearful Symmetry. My friend had the same reaction. I agree that they are very different books. You shouldn't try to judge one by the other.
I know I should not be so adamant, but I don't think I care for her writing style. I will get the book at the library and glance through it to see if it will be worth it to me. I know I am in the minority here.
i got 2 more books to read after my other one and now i am on page 34 and i am reading like mad i need to slow down.
Just picked up The Stupidest Angel today at the library, my first Christopher Moore book. Looking forward to the discussion!
I decided to read Mama Makes Up Her Mind And Other Dangers of Southern Living. It's a quick read that I'm enjoying. Her family keeps reminding me of people I know, which just cracks me up!After I finish this I will definitely get back to Shogun.
Olympia wrote: "Hello everyone, my name is Olympia I'm a bookaholic. I just started The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. I really did not care for it at all when I finished it. I wondered if I went back now, if I would like it more. Good luck with it if you decide to continue.
Tammie wrote: "i got 2 more books to read after my other one and now i am on page 34 and i am reading like mad i need to slow down."Tammie you lost me. What book are you reading and what is your next line up. Why are you reading so fast , is it that good?
Amanda (JT) wrote: "Susanna wrote: "Finally, starting The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger tomorrow. (Now off to bed since it's 2 AM!)"Me too! Feels like I am the last person on the planet to read this. haha! I just finished the first couple of chapters and so far, so good. :) I hope you enjoy it as well!"
I've only read the first chapter now and so far I'm not feeling the love. Could be that yesterday was pretty stressful and I was just too tired to concentrate. Now, back to reading, hoping it's better now that I'm actually awake.
Carrie wrote: "Jennifer, how was HER FEARFUL SYMMETRY? I'm dying to read it."I thought it was okay. I'm really glad I didn't go out and buy it. But others enjoyed it. Personally, I thought The Time Traveler's Wife was waaaayyy better. It was a slow book and pretty weird. The concept seemed cool, but it just didn't develop for me. Maybe you'll enjoy it more though...I gave it a 3 out of 5.

Right now I'm reading The girl that played with fire, and am half way through with it. I'm also reading but in a slower pace, The Thirteenth Tale and Divisadero by Ondaatje.

Wow you are a fan of Anne Rice. I never could get onto the vampire things.
I'm currently reading The Plot Against America and will be starting Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency tonight.Claire wrote: "I just started reading Under the Dome this weekend and so far its good. The Stupidest Angel is a good book, but not Moore's best... I'd suggest you check out A Dirty Job or Lamb The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal if you enjoy it at all. He's actually really great-- I'm jealous of anyone who is just starting to read his stuff!

Just finished Boneshaker by Cherie Priest and I'm now reading an ARC of Truly, Madly by Heather Webber. Perfect curl up with a blanket kind of book. :)
I really like the Maximum Ride series and the New York Detective series and the woman's murder club series , by James Patterson.

ok, thanks, I'll give those Christopher Moore books a try. I figured I just better concentrate on Under the Dome right now or I'll never get through it - its so long.....but really good so far.

ok i,ll try them to

I took a slight detour during the last half of November rereading Lindsey Davis early Falco books (3 of them), slipping in between the first and the second a reread of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. I finished the month with Monica Ferris latest addition to her needlework series : Blackwork which was amazingly good. Vintage cozy mystery. A nice surprise since the last few novels were less than average. I'm back reading Sharpe's Gold and still love it.
I really like the Falco books I've read, Writerlibrarian. I keep meaning to continue on with the series and I keep getting distracted by other things.
The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart (it is about a secret society) and I love it!
Linda wrote: "Just finished The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde and give it a 4. Entertaining and informative. Really a different kind of read for those who like books that are mysteries about books."if you liked The Eyre Affair you should check out the other books in the series. they're just as entertaining and full of literary reference, and the world he created doesn't get old or trite.
Jenna wrote: "Reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. It's just ok for me. I thought it would be alot better. I should finish it up today though. "i hope your opinion of this one changes once you're done! i really liked this story, i think that the actions the nurse takes are just incredibly brave.
I finished yesterday listening to Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. The book was very entertaining.

I thought it was good, I think I rated it a 4/5. The ending didn't wow me, but still a good book.

I read this last month, and I can understand what you are saying about the characters (keeping track of them). I love books based on India though, and I find that this is pretty common. Personally, I thought it was a great book so hopefully it will pick up for you. But I just enjoy that genre overall so I may not be the best advisor.

Me too! The reviews seem so mixed...I think I'll avoid them until I read it myself.

Started Working IX to V Orgy Planners, Funeral Clowns, and Other Prized Professions of the Ancient World yesterday. A fun, fast read.
I'm listening to The Stupidest Angel A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, Version 2.0 on my commutes and it's a zany, wacky story with some great characters. I'm really enjoying it. I should finish it by tomorrow's commute, I think.I'm also almost finished with The Seven Daughters of Eve The Science That Reveals Our Genetic Ancestry. It's fascinating what scientists can find out about our past through our genes. The World is really well-designed on every level. The author's writing is a bit repetitive but interesting, none the less.
For something lighter, I started The Manticore by Robertson Davies. It's the second book in the Deptford Trilogy. I'm not far into it yet but am enjoying the story told through David, who was a child/teenager in the first book. I quite like Davies' writing style. I once asked for one of his books in a Used Book store and the lady said "oh, him...he's such a nuisance". LOL! She explained and said that many people bring his books to her but not many buy them and she keeps finding "him" all over her store. Too bad because the stories are sweet and the writing style is easy-going, relaxing and entertaining.
Finished The Hound of the Baskervilles, sooooo good. Now I need to read some more Sherlock Holmes before the movie comes out. Anyone have any favourite Sherlock Stories? Now I'm reading some major fluff with The Gathering Storm. I expect it to be mediocre, but I want to know how the whole thing ends...
I'm reading Buy Jupiter by Isaac Asimov. They are short stories by him. I can't believe one of my favorite genre's is sci-fi and this is my first book by him, but I really like his style so I think the next book I get at the library will have to be one of his.
To people who have read him, any suggestions?

The Foundation Trilogy.
I finished Salem's Lot by Stephen King late last night. I adored it; Mark was amazing and I've read all of the Dark Tower books, so it was strange seeing Father Callahan again. He's so tragic. I started Eragon by Christopher Paolini. I'm barely ten pages in, but it's going good so far.
I am reading Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. And am still enjoying catching up on The Memoirs of Cleopatra by Margaret George
I also recommend the Foundation series, and the Robot series. The Foundation series starts with the Trilogy, but there are about 5 - 7 books in all (can't remember for sure, just know he wrote the last one the year that he died).

Father Callahan was definitely great to see again.
