What are you reading?

This is a toughy...I know that most people I talk to about this book ended up loving it. Personally, I had such a dislike for so many of the characters that it dragged for me to the end. Are you connecting with any of the characters?

I'm currently reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It's been sitting on my shelves for ages and I needed a quick read.

Not really, no. I have 100 pages left and I'm still waiting for the story to pick up but I'm not holding my breath. What can I say? It's just not grabbing me.

Hmmm....I recall thinking that I'd be okay if an earthquake sucked them all into the ground. But I was the odd man out since nobody ever agrees with me on that one.

I loved The Outsiders when I read it!!! Dallas and Johnny and Ponyboy!

LOL! Oprah and I don't see eye to eye about books either. The only ones on her list that I like I had read before they made her list. When I try the others, I'm disappointed.

Oh well, onwards. Next I'm picking up The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent. But since it's 3 AM, I won't be doing that until tomorrow.

I always ignore the Oprah stickers that are placed on books (although it's annoying when the label is on the cover and not a sticker). I can't say that I particularly care what she thinks--I'm way more likely to take a recommendation from a friend!

I really liked this book myself. I hope it grabs you soon.

How is the Ani Difranco book? I enjoy her music.

Vicki, it was good. Check out my review on it if you like. Her paintings are interesting (they are all untitled), and she has some strong political and social views interwined with lovey dovey mushy stuff... just like her musical lyrcis. Which, by the way, are also in the collection. Some of the song lyrics are written out in the book as well.... "As Is", "32 Flavors"....

Thanks! I didn't even know she had a book. I have to check it out.

I have just started reading Leap Into Darkness by Leo Bretholz. It is a true story about a 17 year old Jewish boy who flees Austria after Germany invades it. It tells about how he survived seven years living on the run in Europe. So far it is really good.

Ender's Game is the best sci-fi book ever! You better love it, or else!

Are you going to send her to the other galaxy ,in the next shuttle to the netherlands. hehehehe

Just finished In a Perfect World. A very interesting book, especially now, when H1N1 seems to be a concern worldwide. Read this book and tell me what you think of the end!

This weekend I read The Regulators by Richard Bachman (Stephen King) and Feed by MT Anderson, both extremely good and highly recommendable. I especially love the character Violet from Feed. She's fantastic.

Haha! Oh Jayme! Thanks for the extra confidence boost in posting my opinion here! LOL.
Well, you are in luck! I did enjoy this science fiction book very much! I was actually surprised at how much I liked it. I did prefer the first half of the book a lot more than the second half.
Now I don't know what to read. I'm afraid to pick up anymore books this week because I have a huge senior thesis to write that's due Monday, and two tests next week. Yeah...this weekend will suck, but after next week I will have all the time in the world to read as much as I want!
Someone PLEASE hit the fast forward button now! :)

Me too! My daughter and I are going, can't wait!
" Me three!!! I had to read New Moon one more time before it released! That was the first book that I'd read in the series. I'd watched the Twilight movie before that. So I favour New Moon over Twilight, the novel.

The sequel is really weird, I kinda liked it, but wouldn't really recommend it...so bizarre and not at all like Ender's Game.

My s-i-l said the same thing so I haven't hurried to grab it up and don't know if I will. I did like "Ender's Game" though.

Wow Maicie! How was "Under the Dome"?

I really liked The Stand, Misery, The Green Mile, Salem's Lot, Carrie, The Shining, and Cujo.

Thanks Maicie. I haven't heard any feed back on it and was curious.

I enjoy Chris Bohj..'s writing also. I find there are gut clenching minutes that really make you take a deep breathe.. have you read any others of his?

This was actually suggested to me by my husband (insert laugh here...he almost never reads). But I knew if he loved it that I had to try it.
