Susan I know Esther. I think og how many hours I am in the car as a passenger and see people driving by me with their nose buried in a book and I get so frustrated....okay JEALOUS!! Hahahaha

Heather Thomas (5peasinapod) | 47 comments I just picked up Angels & Demons

I only glanced at the first few pages. It looks amazing. I probably shouldn't have picked it up yet. I have 2 exams, 2 5-page papers, and 2 reflection papers. I stayed up past midnight reading The House of the ScorpionI was dead tired, but it was worth every minute.

Have you seen the movie? My boyfriend saw and liked it a lot. I haven'tseen it yet but wouldn't mind now. First it looked too creepy:-)

message 15914: by KarenLee (new)

KarenLee I just finished The Code of the Woosters last night and have started The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

I thoroughly enjoyed rereading Code of the Woosters. Wodehouse has me laughing outloud!

message 15915: by Paula (new)

Paula | 1098 comments I am still reading "Backstage Murder" Shelley Fredont. I'm enjoying it but have been working a lot and real life stuff going on so it's put my reading behind. : )

message 15916: by Lindz (new)

Lindz (miss_bovary00) I love Wodehouse. I first read a collection of his best work (as voted by the Wodehouse association of course) I read it on the tram, I was giggling so much people must thought I was lunatic.

I have just started woman in white by Collins. Loving it, very quirky even after 140 odd years. Though he does spend half a page on a description of a new character's appearance which is getting a little annoying.

message 15920: by Carol (new)

Carol The Original Of Laura-by Vladimir Nabokov

This is not written in conventional way. It is his notecards for a book that was not written.

I've seen the movie...it is a bit grim at times for young kids. My older daughter and I enjoyed it though.

Lekeshua | 40 comments I am reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I am currently in the character building stage and I thought after reading the never ending The Woman in White would prevent me from enjoying this book but I am enjoying this quick read.

JG (Introverted Reader) I'm getting started on Shogun. Wish me luck--this whopper is going to take a while!

I can read a little in the car, but I have started to make sure I get an audio book or two before heading out on a trip, so I can listen to a book and not feel like I am wasting time.

Brenda Klaassen (librarymom23) I finished reading,"The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting" and I am going to start "Perfection by Julie Metz."

message 15929: by Arun (new)

Arun Divakar (arundivakar) Has anyone here read Guillermo Del Toro & Chuck Hogan's The Strain ?? I am almost 90 pages into it and it reads cliche...the opening scene at the airport is a done-to-death feature from authors like Nelson Demille & Michael Crichton...

I listened to unabridged version a year or so ago, and now I always recommend it to everyone and list it as one of my favorite books of all time. Narrated by
two women with British accents which really made the
book enjoyable. A real page-turner!

This is a toughy...I know that most people I talk to about this book ended up loving it. Personally, I had such a dislike for so many of the characters that it dragged for me to the end. Are you connecting with any of the characters?

Stephanie (sbez05) | 556 comments Brenda - I loved The Thirteenth Tale. It started out just a bit slow for me, but quickly picked up and it was one of those books that I stayed up waaaay too late to finish. Just my two cents. :)

I'm currently reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It's been sitting on my shelves for ages and I needed a quick read.

Hmmm....I recall thinking that I'd be okay if an earthquake sucked them all into the ground. But I was the odd man out since nobody ever agrees with me on that one.
