Exactly! Now there's some other dude writing WOT...Oh well.
Just finished The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which got better as I got further into it. Next is Tripwire by Lee Child
Jennifer wrote: "Just about to begin East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Yippee!"I hope you like East of Eden, Jennifer. I really liked it when I read it.
I just picked up Angels & DemonsI only glanced at the first few pages. It looks amazing. I probably shouldn't have picked it up yet. I have 2 exams, 2 5-page papers, and 2 reflection papers. I stayed up past midnight reading The House of the ScorpionI was dead tired, but it was worth every minute.
Catamorandi wrote: "I am reading Coraline by Neil Gaiman."I want to read this too! I read the
The Graveyard Book and it was a super fun read!
I finished Minaret A Novel, which was awsome. Five stars from me :)I started Beach Girls by Luanne Rice
I finished Code of the Woosters last night and have just started The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.
Catamorandi wrote: "I am reading Coraline by Neil Gaiman."Have you seen the movie? My boyfriend saw and liked it a lot. I haven'tseen it yet but wouldn't mind now. First it looked too creepy:-)
I just finished The Code of the Woosters last night and have started The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.I thoroughly enjoyed rereading Code of the Woosters. Wodehouse has me laughing outloud!
I am still reading "Backstage Murder" Shelley Fredont. I'm enjoying it but have been working a lot and real life stuff going on so it's put my reading behind. : )
I love Wodehouse. I first read a collection of his best work (as voted by the Wodehouse association of course) I read it on the tram, I was giggling so much people must thought I was lunatic.I have just started woman in white by Collins. Loving it, very quirky even after 140 odd years. Though he does spend half a page on a description of a new character's appearance which is getting a little annoying.
The Original Of Laura-by Vladimir NabokovThis is not written in conventional way. It is his notecards for a book that was not written.
Kris wrote: "I just started American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Also still reading Dracula. "I can't wait to read that. Hope it's good!
Jeane wrote: "Catamorandi wrote: "I am reading Coraline by Neil Gaiman."Have you seen the movie? My boyfriend saw and liked it a lot. I haven'tseen it yet but wouldn't mind now. First it looked too creepy:-)"
I've seen the movie...it is a bit grim at times for young kids. My older daughter and I enjoyed it though.
I am reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I am currently in the character building stage and I thought after reading the never ending The Woman in White would prevent me from enjoying this book but I am enjoying this quick read.
Susan wrote: "I'm reading The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield"Are you enjoying this book Susan? I have it on my TBR pile and it keeps getting passed over.
JG wrote: "I'm getting started on Shogun. Wish me luck--this whopper is going to take a while! It is good though, I hope you enjoy it.
Esther wrote: "This is one of my greatest regrets. I am so jealous of people who read and knit in the car. My car sickness is so chronic that even breathing can be an effort. So much wasted time!"
I can read a little in the car, but I have started to make sure I get an audio book or two before heading out on a trip, so I can listen to a book and not feel like I am wasting time.
I finished reading,"The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting" and I am going to start "Perfection by Julie Metz."
Has anyone here read Guillermo Del Toro & Chuck Hogan's The Strain ?? I am almost 90 pages into it and it reads cliche...the opening scene at the airport is a done-to-death feature from authors like Nelson Demille & Michael Crichton...

"
Actually, I havent started ..."
I listened to unabridged version a year or so ago, and now I always recommend it to everyone and list it as one of my favorite books of all time. Narrated by
two women with British accents which really made the
book enjoyable. A real page-turner!
I'm presently listening to The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst. Have to have it read by Friday morning as I'm chairing our bookclub this month.Just finished Serena by Ron Rash, an NC professor at
Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC. Good read.
Just finished Soulmates by Miranda Glover which i enjoyed and found kind of interesting though it did take a lot longer to read than i expected to.
Now i'm going to start Blood Sucking Fiends by Christopher Moore which i know i will enjoy and can't wait to get into it.
Fiona - Happy for you that you finally got to start the The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest i know that you had been waiting for it for a while. Unfortunately its still on my shelf to be read, could be next, who knows.

It's one of those novels that sneaks up on your and makes you really think what it was that grabbed you ..."Linda wrote: "I just finished The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani. I really enjoyed it. I believe this was her debut novel. It also was shortlisted for the Orange Prize in 2008."
I just bought THE BLOOD OF FLOWERS off the B&N sale
table. The dust jacket sounded good. Glad to hear someone enjoyed it. Will be way down on my TBR list for awhile.
Thanks for the info.

This was actually suggested to me by my husband (insert laugh here...he almost never reads). But I knew if he loved it that I had to try it.

This is a toughy...I know that most people I talk to about this book ended up loving it. Personally, I had such a dislike for so many of the characters that it dragged for me to the end. Are you connecting with any of the characters?

I just finished Olive Kitteridge. I am now in a delicious quandery of what to read next from my TBR pile(about 200 books)!. I do have the Thirteenth Tale maybe I will read that next !!
I finished Little Beeby Chris Cleave. That was a delicious read. Beautiful, funny and heartbreaking all at once. After that I read a bit more Percy Jackson, finished The Titan's Curse. I am now reading The Rum Diary A Novelby Hunter S Thompson. It is my first ever Thompson, and I am only redaing it for a new book club I just joined so I'm hoping it is good.
Brenda - I loved The Thirteenth Tale. It started out just a bit slow for me, but quickly picked up and it was one of those books that I stayed up waaaay too late to finish. Just my two cents. :)I'm currently reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It's been sitting on my shelves for ages and I needed a quick read.
Jennifer wrote: "I'm re-reading New Moon. I can't wait for the movie this week!"
Me too! My daughter and I are going, can't wait!

I just finished reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and I've read 1/3 of Slumdog Millionaire/Q&A by Vikas Swarup, Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris and I'm trying to sum up the enthusiasm to go beyond the first 30 pages of Wuthering Heights...
I just finished reading Digital Fortress by Dan Brown; it was "Meh". I'm currently reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. After I finish that I'm waiting for Hyperion to come in the mail so I can start that.
Christine wrote: "This is a toughy...I know that most people I talk to about this book ended up loving it. I have 100 pages left and I'm still waiting for the story to pick up but I'm not holding my breath. What can I say? It's just not grabbing me.

Hmmm....I recall thinking that I'd be okay if an earthquake sucked them all into the ground. But I was the odd man out since nobody ever agrees with me on that one.
