I just finished "Still Alice" by Lisa Genova, I can't say enough about this touching book, loved it!. Also just finished "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian" by Marina Lewycka, very entertaining and witty, I definitely recommend if you are looking for something a little offbeat.

I'm trying to do the same, because I always end up pushing the new books to the top of the pile and my old ones get neglected. :)

message 15865: by Kate (new)

Kate | 119 comments I finished My Enemy's Cradle last night. It wasn't bad, but a bit too much focus on the love and romance feelings for me.
There were times where I wanted to dive in the book, shake the main character by the shoulders and scream "Come on, You're in the MIDDLE OF A WAR"...

Now I've started A Tale of Two Cities, I really need to get moving on my classics.. Enjoying it so far.

message 15871: by Teneisha (new)

Teneisha (divinereader) | 1 comments Currently reading Little Earthquakes and I can't seem to get through it. Seems quite a struggle to finish.(wouldn't recommend it)

I hate having to stop a book without completing it cause then I can't say I've read it. But I guess I'll have to see.

If not then I'm onto Finding your Mojo.

Even the weakest Donna Leon is better than most mystery novels in my book. I'm done with rereading the old ones up to Doctored Evidence. I can jump ahead to
Suffer the Little Children.

Michelle♥ I finished Prophecy of the Sisters. VERY GOOD! Can't wait for the next installment of that one!

I also finished The Time Machine. I am a fan of H.G. Wells, so of course I liked that book! :) It will haunt my thoughts for awhile, but still it was goooood.

Next, to conquer more of my Top 10 TBR list, I think I will start Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth. Can't wait to dive right into it! :)

I think the last time I read a Leon book it was the one you are reading now. Very good story!!! I like reading her stories and read about places in Venice or Italy where I ahve been too, because it is almost like I am walking there with the characters.

Mary (madamefifi) | 358 comments Gave up on Hollister House Legend of the Banyan Tree because my copy of Under the Dome A Novel arrived and I just couldn't resist. LOVING it so far but it's a humongous book so it's hard to read in bed.

message 15892: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jayme-reads) Finished A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. LeGuin. Now onto Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. I'm thinking it's a mistake to start an unfinished series again...what if she never finishes them? I hate it when that happens!

message 15893: by Lindz (new)

Lindz (miss_bovary00) Yeah Look at Robert Jordan.

I have just started Women in White. Has a crazy little Italian man. So far so good.

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments I reading Penelope Lively's Consequences.

I loved Penelope Lively so much when I was child but this book is so dry.
Half of me hopes something happens soon but the other half is sure there is going to be some tragedy so I'm kind of dreading it.

message 15895: by [deleted user] (new)

I am reading two at once...crazy me. I'm at about the halfway point in A Suitable Boy, and I am reading Half Broke Horses (that's on my Kindle).

Tammie, I love horror. Just finished Shutter Island and loved it. There is a group called Horror Aficianados that has a list going of favorite horror books. Anyone can join. You might get some ideas there.

Also reading Under the Dome A Novel and enjoying it too.

message 15898: by Linda (new)

Linda | 887 comments Finished Breakfast with Buddha by Ronald Merullo and surprise, surprise, I really liked it. It's one of those novels that sneaks up on your and makes you really think what it was that grabbed you and held on. Isn't that what a good book is supposed to do, though?

Started Stones from the River by Ursula Heigi and "we'll see".

This is one of my greatest regrets. I am so jealous of people who read and knit in the car.
My car sickness is so chronic that even breathing can be an effort. So much wasted time!
