Jeane wrote: "After a for sure more than half a year super push from Fiona I am reading her I Capture the Castle"Whenever I see my unread copy of I Capture the Castle, Jeane, I feel the ghost of Fiona hovering over my shoulder chanting, "read, read, read."

and No, sorry I haven't read Julie and Julia yet.

Started reading The Dead of Winter A John Madden Mystery by Rennie Airth this weekend, but not into it at all. Maybe too much WWII after watching The Reader on Saturday. I think will read After the Fire, a Still Small Voice by Evie Wyld instead and then unto the month's group read.

There is only one character that is present from Graceling and that character isn't a huge part of the story. I liked it as much as I liked Graceling, but it is very different. Both 5 star reads for me.
Just finished Jarrettsville...4 stars...have not read many (if any) Civil War Era stories and I ended up really enjoying this one! Now onto Chasing Windmills and Shop Class as Soulcraft An Inquiry Into the Value of Work.

I really did not enjoy the book, "Dewey"

Stephanie, you could be right about the timing of it... Try Fahrenheit 451. It was by far my favorite from him, and one of my all time faves as well!!!

Well, I planned on taking this week off from reading, but somehow I am halfway through Catching Fire! ---------------------

You totally made my night with news about a movie for The Lightning Thief! I just had to go and see who was cast as who, and now I'm really looking forward to seeing it when it comes out!
As for me, I'm reading The Game by Ken Dryden to feed my hockey obsession, and really enjoying it so far. I also just started Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I figured it was time it's been more than a month since I won my copy. So far, I'm really excited about it, even though I'm not that far in.

Stephanie wrote: "I actually haven't read anything else by Bradbury yet (I know - gasp!) and I'm bummed I started with this one"You could try Martian Chronicles too! I love that one.
Kathy wrote: "Finished Sherlock in Love A Novel today and loved it! Now I've begun Shiver."Kathy, Shiver is high on my next to buy/read list. Let me know what you think! :)
I've just finished Stardust by Neil Gaiman and about to start Let the Right One In A Novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
I just began A Compass Error A Novel by Sybille Bedford and When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris, which I started over a year ago and never finished because of a heavy class load. I'm glad to get back into it. I think Sedaris is hysterical.
I just finished Misery and liked it. That Annie Wilkes is a SCARY, crazy dirty-birdie, isn't she?Now I'm starting My Cousin Rachel.
Maureen wrote: "I finished The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop (Buzbee) last night - very fun and interesting read about the love of bookshops and the history of bookselling."
Loved that book.
Just finished the Alchemist which was ok but didn't really find it that interesting.
Have now started Chopper by Mark Brandon Read which i think i'm going to like so long as i don't think to hard about or try to visualise some of the actions mentioned in it (might give me nightmares).

I, also, loved that book. It kept me sane last winter during our horrible ice storm and its after effects.
Finished early this morning The Bean Trees by Barbars Kingsolver and I really enjoyed the story. I am now reading Prayers For Sale by Sandra Dallas.
Brenda wrote: "Finished early this morning The Bean Trees by Barbars Kingsolver and I really enjoyed the story. I am now reading Prayers For Sale by Sandra Dallas."Brenda, be sure to check out Pigs in Heaven when you've got time. It's a continuation of Turtle's story.
Petra, Thanks for the heads up on Pigs in Heaven, I find this author hits and misses with me, so I might of skipped this book. Thank you and have a great day!
Trish wrote: "Just finished Dragonfly in Amber ( 2nd in the Outlander Series) it took me FOREVER to read kinda slow, but ended up loving it and will continue with the series. I am going to take a break from re..."Catching Fire was awesome and a fast read. If you like The Hunger Games, you will love book 2.
Mwah..ha...ha...ha! My son checked out The Last Olympianfrom the library last week because he was almost finished with The Battle of the Labyrinth but I got to it first! He'll have to wait!
Lori wrote: "Stephanie, you could be right about the timing of it... Try Fahrenheit 451. It was by far my favorite from him, and one of my all time faves as well!!!"Thanks Lori! I definitely want to read F451 as soon as I can get my hands on a copy! It's one of those we were supposed to read in school which, back then, made me automatically not want to read it. But I've been anxious to read it for a while now.
Jayme wrote: "You could try Martian Chronicles too! I love that one."
I actually DO have that one - I mooched it at the same time as Something Wicked, so it will be coming up in my TBR ... soon-ish. :)
Laura Ashlee wrote: "I just began A Compass Error A Novel by Sybille Bedford and When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris, which I started over a year ..."David Sedaris IS hysterical. He's one of my favorite authors. And I'm actually going to see him speak at UCI tonight .... squeal! I'm so excited. :)

i've been slacking on my Goodreads again! however, it was for a good cause....i finished The Dante Club from Matthew Pearl. it was a fantastic read, and is great if you enjoy a little history and literary background to your murder-mystery. i'm either going to read Rebel Angels or I Was Told There'd Be Cake next. Not sure which one though.
I just finished The Road Home and i loved it!!Starting Just Breathe by Susan Wiggs.
My first read by this author.

I would love to see him speak. I bought the book when it first came out, after I heard an interview with him on NPR. I'm sure I'll end up reading all his other books as well.

How did you like the audiobooks? I listened to the first two on audio this summer (I had already read the whole series). It took me a while to get used to the narrator's voice. I did like her "Jacob" voice, though.

I haven't read the series and my initial thought is that I wouldn't have liked them as much because of all of that angst and insecurity. Listening to it is okay but reading through it may have been too long and tedious. I could be wrong, mind you, as I haven't read the books but that's the feeling I got.
I do like how Stephanie Meyer had the characters mature throughout the books and learn to listen to each other and really get to know each other as individuals.
I thoroughly enjoyed the scene with Jacob, Edward and Bella in the tent.
Petra wrote: "Laura Ashlee wrote: "How did you like the audiobooks? I listened to the first two on audio this summer (I had already read the whole series). It took me a while to get used to the narrator's voice...."Yes, I would say that's one of the best scenes in the entire series.
I just finished Her Fearful Symmetry - loved it - and now I'm reading The Preservationist by David Maine and listening to Life of Pi by Yann Martel on audiobook.

Cathy: If you are into that time period (and by the way I thought My Enemy's Cradle was an excellent read as well), you might try Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blume.
