Kathy (readr4ever) | 510 comments I'm reading Her Fearful Symmetry, too, and really enjoying it. My reading has been interrupted for a few days, so I'm hoping to get some reading in tomorrow. Do you think reading is a good reason to tell them why I can't substitute teach tomorrow? LOL

I still have the sequel to read, just haven't gotten there yet. I was so anxious for it to come out and now have not moved it forward. One of these days! LOL

All of the books were great (Hannibal not so much)

Kelly (nasiryn) I agree I read Red Dragon, goodness, like 8-9 years ago and loved it! But I generally think the books are better because the individual imagination is so much better than anyone's visual perspective of what it "should be." :)

I am really happy to see so many members reading Her Fearful Symmetry! Be sure to join us at AUdrey's Q&A group to discuss the novel with her and ask questions.

Even though she is out touring for her book, she will be checking in sporadically to answer what you post!

I read Pillars of the Earth about 18 years ago and loved it! I have the second one on my shelf and have been avoiding it because of the length, but I'll get to it one of these days.

I'm about 100 pages into The Boelyn Inheritance and really loving it. Its one of those books I can't wait to get back to.

Maria (minks05) | 481 comments again, it's been awhile since i've been on, and i don't have a whole lot to report. i've started Brideshead Revisited which isn't bad, but slow. i finished Knock Me Off My Feet which was a nice light and fast read. i'm also currently reading Going Topless which is also pretty fast and light.

i picked up a few books over the long weekend with my B&N gift cards from my birthday, so hopefully that will kick start my reading for the next week or two!

Im trying to get back into reading after a few days of just being too busy!!

I am picking up Witches of Eastwick, and can you believe I havent seen the film? SO I have no clue what I am getting myself into :)

JG (Introverted Reader) I finished I Am Legend and enjoyed it more than I expected to. I've only seen bits of the Will Smith movie, but I don't think the two had much in common.

I'll be starting Uglies next.

The Ruins -the book- was way more creepy than the movie for me. I read it first and had all these crazy visuals of the plant and the devestation it reeked on everyone!!

I Am Legend the book - and the movie - cannot be compared. THe book was really good, and the movie was so very loosely based (but still so good!)

Marie-vicky (grimace) | 49 comments hi,
I finished the Last Symbol by Dan Brown. It was an exciting reading with a good pace. There's a lot actions and pages after page there is an incredible amount of details surrounding the story that push me finish it.One more time Dan Brown kept me awake.I'm always impress how he can share his knowledge around a story like this. This one wasn't as impressive than the others but it was a pleasure to read

Next,I will start The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.

I really liked High Fidelity. Saw the movie before I read the book, and they really complimented each other so well. Almost as though the director lifted the words exactly as they were off the page!

message 15096: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 310 comments Hey guys, been gone for two weeks due to computer problems. In that time, I finished The Book of Lost Things, very good book, one of those books that I think has a completely different meaning depending on where you are in life when you read it. I read Catching Fire, looking forward now to the third book even though i feel like end of both books feel forced to fit the trilogy format. I also read Handle With Care by Jodi Piccoult. Subject matter, as someone born with a disability, made me angry. I was prepared for that but I still kept putting the book down to think about it. In my opinion, that's a good book. One that makes you think and pushes some sort of button, even if it's anger or fear. Right now i'm reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. My first Atwood too, although The Blind Assassinhas been recommended several times to me.
