Read in last 48hrs:Darkly Dreaming Dexter - Jeff Lindsay
Furies - Elizabeth Kay
Partners in Crime - Nigel Hinton
Liar - Pete Johnson
Until Proven Guilty - Nigel Hinton
To fit with the more gloomy weather and to get into a Halloween-y mood, I'm starting on Rosemary's baby.
Dexter was an audio done within 9hrs yesterday and others were done today and they were Young Adults.

I quite liked Jasper Fforde, they were nicely fluffy and a good giggle. Great for when you've just finished something heavy and want to take a step back. What did you think of them?

I'm working my way through Football Babylon by Mel Stein. I was away in Barcelona for a few days, and was banned from bringing it with me!

again, it's been awhile since i've been on, and i don't have a whole lot to report. i've started Brideshead Revisited which isn't bad, but slow. i finished Knock Me Off My Feet which was a nice light and fast read. i'm also currently reading Going Topless which is also pretty fast and light.i picked up a few books over the long weekend with my B&N gift cards from my birthday, so hopefully that will kick start my reading for the next week or two!
Im trying to get back into reading after a few days of just being too busy!!
I am picking up Witches of Eastwick, and can you believe I havent seen the film? SO I have no clue what I am getting myself into :)

I finished I Am Legend and enjoyed it more than I expected to. I've only seen bits of the Will Smith movie, but I don't think the two had much in common. I'll be starting Uglies next.
Am reading Truth by Peter Temple. Loving it. Set in Melbourne, Australia, I love how the city (which I also happen to live) is a little breathing character within the story.
Ann from S.C. wrote: "Just started THE RUINS by Scott Smith. I hve seen the movie and I have wanted to read the book."I loved The Ruins!! The book was way better than the movie in my opinion! But the movie was pretty cool too!
Okay... So I started Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill today and so far... I'm scared out of my mind! Great October read!
re: Joyce Carol Oates - there's a great YA book called "After the Crash I Lifted Up My Arms, Spread My Wings, and Began to Fly" - reading specialist read it to my class and now I'm reading it! :)
The Ruins -the book- was way more creepy than the movie for me. I read it first and had all these crazy visuals of the plant and the devestation it reeked on everyone!!
I Am Legend the book - and the movie - cannot be compared. THe book was really good, and the movie was so very loosely based (but still so good!)

I'm currently reading Shutter Island, i'm about half way through and am enjoying it, can't wait to see the movie. I'm also reading time Traveler's wife and the Other Boleyn Girl. I got from the LIbrary, the Lost Symbol, but probably won't get to that one for a while.
Just started reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and have gone thru half a box of tissues already. Obviously I will need to start something else to read simultaneously.
hi,I finished the Last Symbol by Dan Brown. It was an exciting reading with a good pace. There's a lot actions and pages after page there is an incredible amount of details surrounding the story that push me finish it.One more time Dan Brown kept me awake.I'm always impress how he can share his knowledge around a story like this. This one wasn't as impressive than the others but it was a pleasure to read
Next,I will start The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.

I really liked High Fidelity. Saw the movie before I read the book, and they really complimented each other so well. Almost as though the director lifted the words exactly as they were off the page!

Hey guys, been gone for two weeks due to computer problems. In that time, I finished The Book of Lost Things, very good book, one of those books that I think has a completely different meaning depending on where you are in life when you read it. I read Catching Fire, looking forward now to the third book even though i feel like end of both books feel forced to fit the trilogy format. I also read Handle With Care by Jodi Piccoult. Subject matter, as someone born with a disability, made me angry. I was prepared for that but I still kept putting the book down to think about it. In my opinion, that's a good book. One that makes you think and pushes some sort of button, even if it's anger or fear. Right now i'm reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. My first Atwood too, although The Blind Assassinhas been recommended several times to me.

Never saw the movie, but the book was one of those, you keep thinking about long after it's finished! Really creepy and good!

I was disappointed with this book too.
I am in the middle of the 2nd Outlander series book."
I overall liked The Historian, but thought it would never end! I was like "Wrap it up, already!"
I loved The Historian. I thought it was an interesting twist on a classic topic. It was long though.
Jennifer wrote: "Today, I am going to start The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde."Hi Jennifer,
I'm curious to hear your opinion of The Eyre Affair after you read it. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the story, and I ended up getting #2 in the series, Lost in a Good Book to read next.
I am currently reading Olive Kitteridge for my book group and Temptation and Surrender for a little escape. sigh sigh

Hey Beth and Jessie!
I am happy to hear more positive things about this book. I am just about to start reading...as soon as tear myself away from GR! :)
I'm glad you guys are talking up The Ruins. I picked it up at a library book sale and didn't realize it was creepy. I think I can fit it in this month for Halloween. I finished Uglies. I enjoyed it more than I expected also. I'm not a huge fan of dystopic books, but this one kept me turning the pages.
I'm starting on Rose Madder now.

I'm reading Await Your Reply by Dan Chaon. I have never read this author before and so far I am quite impressed! He has really drawn me into the worlds of the three main characters and I am anxious to see how they will intersect.
Michele wrote: "i really liked this book, he writes like his dad"
Ummm Michele I can't figure out what book this is a reference to, but I'm gonna guess Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill?

I read Pillars of the Earth about 18 years ago and loved it! I have the second one on my shelf and have been avoiding it because of the length, but I'll get to it one of these days.
I'm about 100 pages into The Boelyn Inheritance and really loving it. Its one of those books I can't wait to get back to.
