SUCH A GREAT BOOK!!!!!
I just started Swimsuit by James Patterson and realized that it's due back to the library on the 11th. Yikes, I have my work cut out for me. Normally I could read 300 pgs in 3 days but I'm leaving town tomorrow morning for the holiday weekend. I guess I'm not sleeping tonight!

Hi everyone! I love Margaret Atwood books. The Handmaiden's Tale is my favorite! Her newest one is Year of the Flood and if you liked Crake and Oryx you will like her new one.

I'm going to read it soon (along with another Eggers, probably What is the What or The Wild Things) and I'm really looking forward to it.

Trying to get through Half a Life A Novel by V.S. Naipual for my book club. Snooze. Meanwhile, I've also picked up Dancing at the Harvest Moon by K.C. McKinnon. Apparently K.C. McKinnon is another pen name for a well known author. Does anyone out there know who?
Pamela wrote: "Trying to get through Half a Life A Novel by V.S. Naipual for my book club. Snooze. Meanwhile, I've also picked up Dancing at the Harvest Moon by K.C. McKinnon. Apparentl..."Cathie Pelletier is also K. C.
Recently finished Catching Fire and liked it...gave it 4 stars. This is the sequel to The Hunger Games. I'm currently reading The Secret of Lost Things A Novel.
Just finished Life of Pi. Did not particularly care for it, overall.I am still in the middle of A People's History of the United States, but I am trying to read some fiction simultaneously, because it's not the kind of thing I can just plow through.
i just finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time i thought it was very easy to read and i really enjoyed it i would easily read this over and over again
Currently reading Flashforward by Robert J. Sawyer! My roommate picked it up because we're hooked on the new television show by the same name, and she just FLEW through the book, so I thought... might as well read it too. ;)
Laura - I love the new series, too. Is the series based on the book, or is it just coincidence. I may have to check this one out.
Lauen, Interview with a Vampire took me forever to read too. I remember really getting into it once they moved over to Europe though before that it just kind of dragged on. I just started to read The War of the Flowers by Tad Williams. It's my first book from him and so far so good.
Lyn wrote: "Laura - I love the new series, too. Is the series based on the book, or is it just coincidence. I may have to check this one out. "So far it does seem somewhat based on the book, at least lightly based -- same initial premise (although in the book, the 'flashforward' is 20 years in the future), at least one common name so far (though I won't tell you which one!).

Laura, the book is quite different from the show, I am not sure where the show is going as far as who caused this and what the outcome will be, but the book was very enjoyable... You will like them both, I am sure, for different reasons ☺

For all of you Saramengo fans out there. I am reading my first Saramengo this month. The one I am reading is
All the Names. Any others you would suggest?

I am a little over a hundred pages into [Book: Her Fearful Symmetry] by Audrey Niffenegger. I am really enjoying it.

Hello. I would like to introduce myself, first as a LOVER of Saramago, and second as your humble moderator!
Of course I would be more than happy to direct you to some wonderful Saramago novels.... ☺☺
All The Names is a good one. Maybe a little slow to start, but comes into it's own quickly enough. The Cave is one of my favorites!
As far as recommendations, all of these, but not in any particular order:
Blindness
Seeing
All The Names
The Double
Death With Interupptions
The Cave

SO happy to hear you are loving it! Be sure to visit Audrey in the Q&A group to ask some questions or just gush over it! She pops in there quite frequently.
Carol, I do think, personally, it is a better novel than Time Traveler's Wife... I love the ghost story, the characters and the fact that a cemetery is a focal point!

I think the reason it is taking me so long is because it has no chapters. I tend to read "just one more chapter" a lot and with this one I can't!
I finished the excellent "An Echo in the Bone" and loved it. I needed to read a mystery next so I'm picking up "Heaven's Keep" by William Kent Krueger.

Carol, I agree with Lori, I think it is a better novel. But then again, I was one of the few who didn't really click with The Time Traveler's Wife though. I like the characters much better. I feel there is an interesting variety. I think the writing style is great in both, but I still seem to be pulled into this book a lot more than I was with The Time Traveler's Wife.
I'll check out the group now Lori. It'll be interesting since I am reading the book!

I did not click with TTW either. I was hoping this one might be better for me.

I understand how you feel. That is why I got it from the library instead of purchasing it, but I definitely like it a lot. I'll keep you posted if you want.

Finished The Dirt by Motley Crue the other day which i enjoyed but it wasn't as good as i was expecting it to be.
Then i started Curse of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz which i'm now just over half way through. I'm liking it so far, finding it funny with interesting characters plus bonus is its not dragging on for me and i'm getting through it pretty quickly.

Oh, I like Tad Williams. If you like that one you should give the Otherland series a try. It's weird but good.
Hey everyone. I'm reading the 'New Moon' (by Stephenie Meyer) for fun and 1984 (by Gorge Orwell) for studying.. Of course, I can't stop reading the New Moon. Sometime, I wish I were a vampire....
I started Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb. I liked the first chapter, but thought the second was a little strange, so we will see.

I actually read them. 'Tis picks up where Angela's Ashes left off, and then Teacher Man is during and after his college years.
