Viki, I loved Saving Fish From Drowning. I think what hooked me on it initially was listening to it on CD in the car. Amy Tan reads it and is great. I switched to print after my car trip, which was only about a quarter or little more into the book. Fantastic book, so witty.

Definitely stick with The Historian, Andrea. It is one of my favorite books. Kostova has a new book coming out next month. It's been a long wait for a new book from her.

by Kwei Quartey. Similar to McCall's mystery series I think set in Africa. I get a "next reads" list from my library each month, one on mysteries and the other historical fiction.

So far, haven't had to do that yet!
Has anyone else read this?

Next, I'm going to start Too Loud A Solitude by Bohumil Hrabaal.

Loved The Hunger Games, Edith. Its sequel, Catching Fire, is just as am..."
I was worried b/c I found the plot a little disturbing but it's very good so far.

Years ago! I loved this one. My daughter and s-i-l have actually stayed at the Stanley Hotel where Stephen King went to write the book.

Hello!
I am reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. I read this eleven years ago, when it first came out, and loathed the character of the father so much that it tainted the whole book for me. So many people love this book and *gasp* when I admit my dislike for the novel. I am hoping time and distance will allow me a different appreciation for the story. I love all of Kingsolver's other books so was disappointed to have a negative reaction to Poisonwood.

Second, while I was wandering around, I stumbled upon the books by Jennifer Crusie, an author who keeps popping up on my radar. It seems like there are a lot people reading her lately. Even though I don't really consider myself a fan of chick lit, if I hear enough about a book or author, I'll usually check it out, so I grabbed Crazy For You and read the first few sentences. And apparently I'm in the perfect mood for it today, because I couldn't resist taking it out. I'm about 30 pages in, and enjoying to so far. I hope it continues to be as enjoyable.

The Last Noel by Heather Graham, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Christmas In Hawthorn Bay by Kathleen O'Brien. How's that for an eclectic trio?

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown , Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder , and Covet by J.R. Ward

Just the two that you've read; how do you like "All the Names?"

I'm a bit further into it now, and it's getting weird. Still loving it though!

Heather, All the Names was slow to start but was quite incredibly written once I got into the meat of it... he takes such ordinary plot lines and really twists them up!

Eric: Hope you enjoy Hannah's Dream as much as I did. BTW, everyone I loaned it to loved it as well. Happy reading.

I've read The Shining and loved it. It is one of my favorite Stephen King books. Just wait, you will get to the scary and creepy parts of the book.

I've now started The Birds Fall Down.

That one has been on my list forever. I hope it picks up for you!

Jennifer, I also read this book quite a long time ago. I'm hoping to reread it with the group, but I've got quite a stack from the library that all came in at once! I don't remember a lot from the book, but I remember being disappointed, since I loved all her other books. As you said, maybe I will better appreciate it now.

Thanks. I am about half way through so far and it is starting to pick up. It has been a heartwarming read so far and I look forward to seeing how it plays out.

I just finsihed Catching Fire and LOVED it.

I just finished The History of the Siege Of Lisbon.I enjoyed it so much. You see into his world of book editing-proof reading. It was a love story and so much more.
I am going to start a Arturo Perez-Reverte novel one of the Captain Alatriste series
The Man In The Yellow Doublet

I've read the first two in this series Monef, and they are cute but Harry is still my favorite.

Yes Andrea, try to stick with it. The beginning for lots of people was hard to get through but it is getting better. On the point two stories will merge it gets really good. I lvoed the book and thought it was an original view on the subject.

I read Suite Francaise last year. I enjoyed it. It's heartbreaking to know the story behind it.

Shona... It is very very good, isnt it? I liked HFS so much better than TTW (which shocked me since i really really liked TTW)
