If I remember right the Exorcist is pretty scary. I just finished Winter in Madrid. I guess i will start Duma Key

I think it looks very good and the cast looks good too.

I liked the gargoyle. It was a little patchy though. Incredible detail. But some how the fantasy ..."
I am liking it to and would recommend it. Sometimes when in the present time it seems to me as if the author is speaking rather than the character. I know that sounds strange but...

I'm switching it up now and decided to read a thriller...The Perfect Husband

What is the name of the first book?

Oh yay!!! I'll be re-reading it later this month & then New Moon next month for the movie : )

Jenna/Paula: I loved Shutter Island. While I am currently reading a Dennis Lehane novel and really loving it, I am not totally a huge fan of his, but Shutter Island is IMO one of his best.

I'm switc...
Glad you liked "Pillars" Kellie, I loved it when I read it and couldn't wait for the sequel (which takes place 200 years later) but it's still sitting in my stacks! LOL

Linda, I've only read "Shutter Island" and "Mystic River" and loved both of them. I have all his others in my stacks but haven't gotten to them yet.

Started reading this today, im already about 100 pages in, and its only 250 pages so i should finish it today.
It's alright, nothing spectacular but I got it at a book sale at my local church and it looked decent enough.
I wanted to get through all my "quick read" books first since I have a couple sitting on my shelf.

I think I'm going to read this one next, its also a short book, 250 pages i belive, smaller print then what im reading now but it should also be a quick read.

What did you think? Did it compare with The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons? I enjoyed both of those.

Wow...I had not heard of Shutter Island...but I am off to order it online from my library. The trailer looks awesome! Must read before the movie comesout!

I read this a few years back and almost threw the book across the room. The author made me that upset. Didn't you find that the Author was much more damaging to the family than Capitalistic America ever could have been? I think he became worse than the system he meant to demean.

What is the name of the first book?"
Kellie: Here is a list of books in this series:
Cutter '94
Hoofprints '96
Roughstock '97
Roped '98
Slickrock '99
Breakaway '01
Hayburner '03
Forged '04
Moonblind '06
Chasing Cans '08
If you ever want to check out a cozy mystery series I recommend the website: http://www.cozy-mystery.com/

If you have The Given Day, I highly recommend it.

To me, Angels and Demons was the best of the Robert Langdon series, then came The Da Vinci Code. I pre-ordered The Lost Symbol because I was so excited to read it! I got it delivered on the day it was in stores, Sept. 15th, and devoured it that night when I came home from work.
Now this is just my opinion, but I honestly did NOT like this book. I felt there were two halves to it and it should have ended a lot sooner than it did. Unfortunately all my expectations that I had for it were shattered. My advice would be to wait til it comes out in paperback for those who have not read it yet.
Don't get me wrong; I will most definitely pick up another literary piece written by Dan Brown, but I just think that The Lost Symbol was not what it was suppose to be. It did not satisfy the Robert Langdon craving or the mystical secret society wisdom that I wished to obtain. I don't want to give away any of the plot so I'm not mentioning a lot and just keeping this very brief and broad.
Message me if you want more details, Denise.

That was an interesting review. I have read Angels & Demons, because it was on a list of books to read before you die. It was a bucket list of books.
I kept saying to myself why was it a must read. I have read so many other books that were better. When I read the Da Vinci Code. I just wanted it to be over. I was exhausted trotting all over Europe.

I loved it. I laughed so hard. especially at her funeral.

Viki: I would be interested to hear what you think about Saving Fish From Drowning when you are through! I bought a copy at the Goodwill the other day!

I read it a couple weeks ago and it was good, very involved and tedious at points seemed like it was kinda draggin on towards the end but I did like it. Definitely worth reading.

Carol, if you felt that way about Angels and Demons and DaVinci Code then I wouldn't read The Lost Symbol. It is very tedious at times, very very involved and at the end I felt like it just kept going and going, even after the big reveal.
Seth wrote: "I am starting a horror novel called Deeper, by James A. Moore, about some kind of sea monster."
Seth, let me know if its any good... well, my kinda good.. I love books with monsters, and sea monsters... whoo hoo!

I was thinking the same thing. I know I will not purposely buy it. I will wait until I am desperate to read something different. Thanks for your input.

Can't wait to hear about The House at Riverton - it is on my to read list.
I am reading Royal's Bride

I'll do have it, I'll push it closer to the top! Thank.

Stick with it Andrea! I found it difficult to get into as well but it didn't take long and I was hooked! I loved the book in the end!
Current - The Beach by Alex Garland. Yup, the Leo Dicaprio movie. Not too far in just yet, but GREAT book so far.
Trying - to get through the Thomas Covenant chronicles. Having a bit of trouble, possibly because I have each series as a single volume, makes it a bit of a daunting read.
Next - thinking about starting on the Hawkwood series.
