I haven't read the Book Thief - yet - but I have read Loving Frank and I highly recommend it. It is a interesting look at a very creative but eccentric man and his relationship with an equally interesting woman - plus there is a shocker of an ending.

The Book theif was an amazing read and I recommend it to everyone!Loving Frank was a very good read as well and I agree Donna, the ending gave me chills!!!
Bridge of Sighs was an awesome read as well, I gave it 5 stars!!!
White Tiger was OK. I didn't love it but I thought it was a good read but I really wouldn't recommend it to many people. I love reading about different cultures though and it was very interesting.
Liz wrote: "I loved The Secret Life of Bees! Did anyone else read, that, and then pick up The Mermaid Chair, only to find themselves disappointed?"I never finished The Mermaid Chair, what a disppointment after the Secret Life, which I just loved. Happy to hear someone else felt the same way.
I'm just getting started in "Darkly Dreaming Dexter". I'm less than 20 pages but I already hate to put it down.
I just started The Hunger Games. It's gotten such amazing reviews from everyone so we'll see how it goes.
Heather wrote: "Ahh, Kathy, that's awesome! I'm so excited that you got to meet her face to face! Plus you have a nice signed copy of Echo to treasure :)"Yes, I love having signed copies by my favorite authors. It's so cool!
JG wrote: "I'm about to get started on The Heretic's Daughter."I loved The Heretic's Daughter and Kathleen Kent is an amazing author and person. I got to spend an evening with her last spring at an authors' reception at a book festival. She is one of the nicest people that I've ever met and such an articulate one, too.
Edith wrote: "I just started The Hunger Games. It's gotten such amazing reviews from everyone so we'll see how it goes. "Loved The Hunger Games, Edith. Its sequel, Catching Fire, is just as amazing, too.
Heather wrote: "Hi Cristina! Welcome to the group :)I just recently finished The Book Thief and really enjoyed it. It took me a little while to really get into it, but once I did, there was no putting the book d..."
Heather, I was heartened to read that it took you a little while to get into The Book Thief. I tried reading it last year and it just didn't click, but I want to read it, as everyone raves about it. So, I will give it another try soon.
Michelle♥ wrote: "I'm reading The Handmaid's Tale and am having a hard time getting into it! I'm only on page like 32 and I find myself becoming more and more A.D.D., picking up other things to do before settling do..."I loved The Handmaid's Tale as well, Michelle. Stick with it and hopefully you will like it the further in you get.
Donna wrote: "Reading A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly"This is for my book club next month? How do you like it?
I just finished "Manhunting" by Jennifer Crusie.. it was better than expected.. slow in parts but still good.. idk what im going to read next though.
JG wrote: "I'm about to get started on The Heretic's Daughter."I really enjoyed that one JG. Hope you do too.

I've been so busy with my course readings and assignments lately that I needed a little break. So I started reading Daniel Silva's The Kill Artist and it's pretty interesting. A bit bumpy prose-wise I think but it's interesting to read about Gabriel Allon from the beginning =)
Currently reading Catching Fire (I'm psyched...I loved The Hunger Games ) as well as a book of short stories entitled Both Ways Is the Only Way I Want It. Recently finished The Eyre Affair and surprisingly enjoyed it (4 stars), as this is not a typical genre for me to read.
Well I finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. I liked it it is a foiur stars for me. I started Daughter of the Ganges The Story of One Girl's Adoption and Her Return Journey to India by Asha Miro it is an interesting memoir, it the story of the author that was adoppted from India and grew up in Barcelona. I have to continue to read the greek translation of The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
Still reading the Poisonwood Bible which is very slow going. I think I am also going to start Shutter Island. I got that out of the library finally and have been dying to read it.

I just finished (literally about 90 mins ago) The Help! by Kathryn Stockett and all I can say is I LOVED IT! I think this book should be required reading of every single high school student in the US. If you haven't read it, please do! It is a story about early 1960's Jackson, Mississippi and is told in the different voices and perspectives of some young (snooty) Junior League ladies and the black maids that look after their families and raise their children. A truly incredible read!
Sharon wrote: "I am reading The Gargoyle. Has anyone any comments on this rather strange book?"I liked the gargoyle. It was a little patchy though. Incredible detail. But some how the fantasy scenes or the past life scene's did mesh with the rest of the story, for some reason I felt like I was stopping and starting a little. Though totally would recommend it, it is a quirky love story.
Michelle♥ wrote: "I just read Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. This was by far the BEST book that I have read ALL year. If you have not read it, I would suggest you pick it up! I literall..."I read it a few weeks ago and really liked it too. Saw a trailer recently - they are releasing it as a movie in November I think.
I've read a few since last posting:Shutter Island
The Poisonwood Bible
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
The Reader
the first two Dresden file books
The first four were fantastic and the last two were light and easy and exactly what I was looking for so all in all I'm on a roll. Have Her Fearful Symmetry lined up next.

Thanks for the update Mel!Jenna, I hope you really enjoy Shutter Island, it was definitely the best book I have read all year!

Omgosh! It looks amazing! :) I'm so excited right now!!! I like Leo as Teddy Daniels. He nails the accent!!
I am reading "Communions With Christ" by Sharon Ellis and really loving that one, and "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon I like this one also :)
Finally finished The Autumn Castle and I thought it was great. I loved it! Now I'm reading The Exorcist and I haven't really started it yet, and I'm already terrified.
Alisha wrote: "Finally finished The Autumn Castle and I thought it was great. I loved it! Now I'm reading The Exorcist and I haven't really started it yet, and I'm already terrified."If I remember right the Exorcist is pretty scary. I just finished Winter in Madrid. I guess i will start Duma Key

I am liking it to and would recommend it. Sometimes when in the present time it seems to me as if the author is speaking rather than the character. I know that sounds strange but...
I know what you mean. The main character will often slip into the author, especially when he is talking about Galileo. A well written book, but he has a lot of himself in there.
Well I finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards and I am aproximatly 100 pages in Daughter of the Ganges The Story of One Girl's Adoption and Her Return Journey to India by Asha Miro it is a fast and intresting read. I have to continue to read the greek translation of The Name of the Rose Including Postscript by Umberto Eco
The book I am reading, The Fireis sooo good. I am about 80 pages and completely absorbed. It is one of those books That you go and sit down because you know you will be reading for a while, not knowing there is a world outside the story. My friend who gave me her book was right with all her feleings she had about it!
Still reading Case Histories - Kate Atkinson. Also decided to listen to American Wife - Curtis Sittenfeld (21hrs 30 mins) as this is a library copy and needs to be sent back before I go away on Friday lunchtime. Next will listen to Betty:The Autobiography - Betty Driver.
Hey everyone!! It's been a while....I've just finished The Pillars of the Earth which was fantastic. It has made it to my ALL TIME list...towards the top. (If not on the top)I'm switching it up now and decided to read a thriller...The Perfect Husband
I'm starting Slickrock A Gail McCarthy Mystery by Laura Crum. I really enjoy this series about Gail McCarthy, a female horse vet who solves mysteries.
Katie...Never heard of this series but it sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. What is the name of the first book?
