What are you reading?
I am reading Pillars of the Earth and loving it. I was intimidated by the size but is reading very fast!
I read Pillars of the Earth in it's first printing many years ago. I remembered how much I enjoyed it, so I re-read it this past May. It is a book to keep and return to over the years. There are not many I will do that with.

Thanks, Jenna. I went out yesterday and bought The Time Traveler's Wife, so I may read that next before I see the movie - I can't wait to read The Courious Incident though - I'm glad you liked it.

I know what you mean, I felt the same way. I enjoyed the movie and the way it ended.
Well I read "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks. It is an ok book. I finished yesterday "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck and loved it, it's a five star book for me. I loved the way Steinbeck wrote.
Today I will start "The Name of the Rose including Postscript to the Name of the Rose" by Umberto Echo. I have the greek translation (the book has 890 pages, but the letters are preety big).
Have a nice reading day

John Steinbeck is one of my favorite authors. You must read Travels With Charlie if you have not done so.

Hello,
the book is about a property developer who is having an identity crisis. Through explorations of love, friendships and paranoia, it's the story of a professional man's quest to fight his way through a a maze of stereotypes, and his own personal quest for his identity.

Just finished 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven' by Mitch Albom. Not at all what I expected but quite enjoyable.I'm just about to crack open 'The Other Queen' by Philippa Gregory. I love her Tudor series, so I have high hopes... :)
Kicki wrote: "I am currently reading The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who by the way is my favorite author."Somebody was telling me about that book the other day. The author has the same name as my mum, so it immediately stood out to me! I'll be checking it out.

Let me know how you like it. I liked her Tudor series also, but will be interested to get your take on this one
I'm reading a biography of Andrew Jackson, which is pretty darn interesting...lots of scandal and dirty politics (so what's changed since then? LOL)I'm also just read UNACCUSTOMED EARTH by Jhumpa Lahiri. I enjoyed it, but did wonder if she gets tired about writing slight variations on the same characters in the same settings.

I am hoping to get through it. The first 30 pages were rough, but I am doing well now.
I finally jumped on the bandwagon and started Twilight this weekend....finished it this morning. I really enjoyed it even though I half thought I wouldn't. :)
Just finished The Knitting Circle by Ann Hood. Loved it, loved it, loved it! Now Starting Tara Road by Marbr Binchy. Getting ready for a week in San Antonio with lots of time to read!
Well I finished today "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks and I started "The Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco. It is a greek translation (as I read in four languages)I only started it and I realy like it. I've just finished "The Lost Years of Jesus" by Mary Clare Prophet and am still reading The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (Oh and I love him btw! Great author!) and am starting Around the town by Mary Clark Higgins.-SiNgUrL
Just finished Olive Kitteridge (5 stars) and was amazed at the characters' emotional composites. I did not care for Olive Kitteredge's character initially, but her evolution throughout the book was intriguing. Also read Black Flies A Novel (3 stars). Interesting look into lives of inner city paramedics. I'm now reading Every Last Cuckoo A Novel .
I just finished City of Ashes, which was AMAZING (see my review)!I can't wait to read City of Glass!

I really enjoyed these books. I have City of Glass on my shelf though, waiting for me to get to it!
I'm finally getting to The Sorceress. My library only had one copy and it was on hold for quite a while. My son didn't get to finish it and couldn't renew it, either. I'm hoping I'll finish it by the end of the week so he can finish. I can't afford the late fees. So far, I'm loving it.
I'm almost finished with Lamb The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal. Next up is Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.
I just finished The Shadow of the Wind. I LOVED it. I'll have to get into the group discussion that was held for this book. I'm going to start The Time Traveler's Wife next.
I am now reading my first read copy of Shining City A Novel and have about 50 more pages to go. It's good so far.
I finished Citizen Girl today. Gag. Now I'm starting on Water for Elephants and even though I'm not very far into it but it's not too bad.
Just started The God of Small Things and I have high hopes for this one. I've heard extremely mixed reviews from friends who have read it, but I already like the style in which Ahrundati Roy writes.
Finished Shutter Island and The Book of Samson this weekend so I'm moving on to Laughter in the Dark this evening.
I'm finally starting the 2nd Sookie book - Living Dead in Dallas. And then I will start season 2 of True Blood! I really need to get with it on the Sookie books, I'm so far behind!
Dang Jessica, why does it feel like you are on a reading roll right now! And such great books too!!
I started On The Beach by Shute yesterday. Its an oldie apocalyptical ...... bout 60 pages in and liking it. the writing is a little stiff, but Im dying to see what happens.

I love when I get on a reading kick and can knock a few off my garantuan to-read list. Even though my carpets are screaming to be vaccummed, it's worth it!
I just finished The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower by Stephen King. It was great...definitely not what I expected as the ending to the series, but it was awesome. I'm currently reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen in preparation for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It's slow going...lots of dialogue...but it's alright. My goal is to finish it before I leave for school on the 22nd.
I just finished The_Greengage_Summer Greengage Summer by Rumer Godden. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/89...Wow. For me, a perfect book. It transported me to a different time and place (post-war France, 1940's). It was introspective and character driven. It had a plot. It was beautifully written. I guess I'm just an old fashioned girl at heart, but it was simply a corking good read!
