Laura | 45 comments For those who have read, are reading, or plan to read Carlos Ruiz Zafon's The Shadow of the Wind or The Angel's Game, there is an interview with the author on Borders.com (http://www.bordersmedia.com/borderspr...).

I loved Shadow of the Wind and can't wait to read The Angel's Game. This interview just made me even more excited to read this second book (and the one's yet to come)!

Alisha Marie (endlesswonderofreading) | 715 comments I just finished reading Austenland by Shannon Hale and I thought that it was great! It was such a good, cute, and fluffy read, which is definitely what I needed. I thought the main character's obsession with Mr. Darcy (the Colin Firth Mr. Darcy, of course) was pretty funny. This book made me "AWW" and "SQUEE" (and trust me when I say that I'm not the "awwing" and "squeeing" type of chick), and it was just an all-around cute book. Now, I'm thinking of reading Pride and Prejudice or any Jane Austen really, since I haven't ever read one of her books, but own them all.

Hey, thanks LDB!! I'm like you, read Shadow of the Wind and can hardly wait to read Angels Game. It's next up for me. I am going to the author interview now!

Adrienne, I read Amy and Isabelle years ago, so I could never discuss it, forgotten too many details, but I do remember how much I liked it.

Hi Jan,

you have definately sold it to me a bit more. The movie was good, and very moving. So if the book is better, then I really should read it. I've heard a lot about his other book too. I found it quite difficult to recommend the Kite Runner movie, it was so sad. Just like after I watched Broke Back Mountain, that story stayed with me for a while. Earlier this year, I after I had seen Will Smith's Seven Pounds, I told my brother to watch it. He then called me after he had seen it, and told me to never recommend such a depressing film to him again!

Jan: I read Still Alice and loaned it to a friend with a caveat that it might be both sad and alarming for people who aren't certain if their memories are slipping. We both loved it. If you recommend it (which I think is a great idea) you might tease out which of your friends can deal with the sadness and which definitely can't.

Viki | 42 comments I just finally had to put down Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell....could not get through it. Currently reading A Prayer for Owen Meany....it is absolutely wonderful. Even through the very emotional parts, I have had to stop and laugh out loud. Characters are charming and quirky.

I recently read The Other Woman by Eric Jerome Dickey. I found it impressive that a male author wrote so accurately through a female protagonist. Of course this was just a particular female character, and not 'representative' of all women. A lot of women I've spoken to about the book also said that he wrote well as a woman! I'm looking forward to reading A thousand Splendid Suns too.

Youndyc I'm reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Awesome story. I'm also reading Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer, which I feel like I've been reading forever. It's a great book, and it's well written, but I find that I can only absorb so much of the information at one time - then I need a fiction break!

Sharon Ellis | 176 comments I have been reading the words in a Hymnal book, words of hymns written in the 1700's 1800's and early 1900-s. Interesting the rhymn and meter of these songs. Interesting the names of the Athors, and their brief history and dates hymn's written. Also interesting reading notes on the Bible scriptures that inspired each of these hymns. Music/ words together, done really well can be transporting, poetic.
We have an old piano upright made in 1890's.
