I just finished Sense and Sensibility which was great as always, and Turtle Moon which was sort of meh. I'm going to be starting Catering to Nobody by Diane Mott Davidson. Camping is great for reading!
finished Love Walked In and I loved it, I think it was an excellent book. Started Water for Elephants, im on chapter 3 and I think its pretty good so far.
Currently reading Stieg Larssen's The Girl who Played with Fire. It's not out in bookstores in North America yet but somehow my Public Library managed to snag a bunch of copies. Maybe from the UK? Is it out yet there?Anyway, I'm not far in, but like the first one it's slow to start although it's fascinating. It's starting with Fermat's theorem, which wasn't solved for more than 300 years.

This is me jumping and down about the Angel's Game. I have it coming hot off the presses as soon as the mail can get it here. Our book club discussed The Shadow of the Wind last night and it was a unanimous winner. Gotta love that Zafon.
I'm still reading The Shack - I'm not too far in but so far its good (although the part I'm on is pretty heartbreaking).
I'm currently reading The Room-Mating Season by Rona Jaffe. It's pretty good so far and I'm barely even 100 pages in. I just hope there gets to be more conflict or something cause if the novel is going to continue as it is, I'm certain I'll have to force myself to continue it.
Jessica wrote: "Finished The Count of Monte Cristo this weekend and squeezed in Club Dead by Charlaine Harris. Now I can't decide whether to start Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, or The Mysterious Island...."I read The Count of Monte Cristo some months back, what did you think? And I even seen a brillant TV series from the local library of the book with Gerard Depardieu as the main character. I enjoyed the book for the most part but I did find in places that the story rather dragged. Almost though Dumas had not fully collected his ideas and was in a hurry to write something for the next edition for the newspaper it was originally published in.

Glad your book club liked The Shadow of the Wind, that is awesome!!! :) The Angel's Game is out today- exciting!! :) I ordered mine online too and am waiting on the mail. Can't wait to read it! :)
I finished The Book of Lost Things last night and now I'm on to A Clockwork Orange which I've somehow never read!
Jenna wrote: "Finished up A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore and loved it. Can't wait to read more of his books. I would never have picked this book up if it had not been for hearing about it from this group."Jenna, I listened to an audiobook of A Dirty Job narrated by Fisher Stevens and he was great! Made the book even better for me.
Finishing Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy, and like it a lot more than I expected (I gave myself a personal challenge of reading or listening to at least two classics per month).Am now reading Angle of Repose by William Stegner and love the beautiful wording of his storytelling, and his descriptions of ordinary things: "bees up to their thighs in pollen"
Yamin wrote: "Jessica wrote: "Finished The Count of Monte Cristo this weekend and squeezed in Club Dead by Charlaine Harris. I had ordered an unabridged version from a bookswap, but got the abridged instead. :(
We were discussing the differences between the two in the Monte Cristo thread. I heard the Rome part does drag out a bit, but in the abridged version it never did. I loved it! I do want to get an unabridged copy though, because I'm sure I missed so many good things!
Well, right now I'm reading "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens...I bought this book when I was still in high school but never got around to actually reading it so now I'm going to start & finish...

Currently reading Paint It Black by Janet Fitch ... I'm not too far in - the jury is still out on this one.
I recently finished Chris Evans's A Darkness Forged In Fire so I'm now on to Anthony Capella's The Various Flavors of Coffee and Giles Tremlett's Ghosts of Spain Travels Through a Country's Hidden Past (for a dose of nonfiction) =)
lol really...I thought so coz my sister really liked it & whenever she likes something I'm kinda iffy about it...but I really want to read this book so I've downloaded it @ Librivox.com so I could follow along & hopefully won't be bored...P.S.
sorry if i flagged you accidentally Kris...I was doing this from my ipod & hit the flag button...didn't mean to...
I wasn't going to read Almost Moon after reading so many negative comments on goodreads. It is a vert uncomfortable novel. I am having difficulty understanding how the main character makes the coices she does. Defineltley sad commentary on mental illness and the effects on family
I'm reading The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon - I'm struggling but sticking with it. Also finishing The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. I do this all the time 2 or more books one in a different room, maybe one in the car.
Diane wrote: "Yamin wrote: "I've almost finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, in tandem with John Keats Complete Poems and Dylan Thomas Omnibus. Since I started A Thousand Splendid Suns, yesterday I haven..."Sure, which thread?

I also can't remember if my was unabridged or not, I just know it was an old copy and truly dog-eared!
I just finished Dark Places A Novel by Gillian Flynn. And I thought it was a good, creepy read. It was one of those books that I desperately wanted to finish because I wanted to know what the hell happened and whodunit. Although, I did start to figure a bit of it out myself about 80 pages before the end, there were still a lot of more twists that I just did not see coming. So, I thought it was a pretty good edge-of-your-seat thriller. I still liked Sharp Objects A Novel a bit more. I thought that it was creepier and darker than Dark Places (heh, go figure, huh?)Anyway, now (or rather tomorrow, it's going to be 2 AM here) I'm going to start The Rover by Mel Odom. I've been in a YA fantasy kick ever since I joined the Wild Things YA group. My poor "adult" books are starting to resent me.
I just finished The Spectator Bird by Wallace Stegner - love his writing, I clipped tons of quotes on my Kindle. Now I'm moving on to The Pillars of the Earth.Has anyone read The Strain by Guillermo del Toro? I hear it is the scariest book ever.
Ann from S.C. wrote: "I am also reading SHUTTER ISLAND. It is pretty good so far."Ann:
If you haven't seen it, take a look at the movie trailer for Shutter Island. OMG! Leonardi DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Max von Sydow, and on and on. BTW, I thought it was a great read. Be prepared for twists and turns.
I just started Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. Am reading it for our B&N book club. So far (while admittedly not far into it) I am struggling. The reviews have been positive, so I will keep with it, but not an easy beginning.
Finishing up Loving Frank: A Novel by Nancy Horan and soon I will start The Girl With the Dragone Tattoo
I have just finished "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and I liked it very much. But to get a pause from drama and murders before jumping into "The Girl who played with Fire" (number 2 in the Millenium Trilogy) I'm reading an easy "almost chick-lit" book, "The Devil wears Prada". Nice so far!
Claire wrote: "I'm still reading The Shack - I'm not too far in but so far its good (although the part I'm on is pretty heartbreaking)."I just read The Shack the other week.....it's wonderful! Yes, the first part is "heartbreaking" but once you are through, oh my what an incredible journey!
Kandice wrote: "Just finished the Game and am starting Anne of Green Gables."You will love Anne of Green Gables!
I am about 75 pages in and have already fallen in love with Anne! Of course I picture her skinny, red-haired and freckled, but somehow my mind will NOT give her a homely face. She is a doll to me:)
I am reading World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War. I didn't get enough Zombie violence on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Yamin wrote: "Diane wrote: "Yamin wrote: "I've almost finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, in tandem with John Keats Complete Poems and Dylan Thomas Omnibus. Since I started A Thousand Splendid Suns, yes..."Hi Yamin - I just checked and A Thousand Splendid Suns discussion is under the heading Wanna Discuss This Novel? It is on page 4 listed as 1000 Splendid Suns. I will see you over there after work tonight!

It is a very tragic book and one that sticks with you.
Lori Ann wrote: "I finished The Book of Lost Things last night and now I'm on to A Clockwork Orange which I've somehow never read!"Lori Ann, how did you like The Book of Lost Things? I loved it and loved the ending.

Thanks for the input on The Shack, Julie! I am getting further in and can't wait to see what happens. I've heard it is incredible.!
I just finished listening to Scarpetta (Patricia Cornwell). It was really good and a great follow-up to The Book of th Dead. I started listening to The Dark Tide by Andrew Gross last night.

If I remember correctly the author is/used to be a doctor and this is his first work of fiction. Thanks for reminding me of this book. I hope it gets better as you go along!
Claire- I really enjoyed The Book of Lost Things, I liked the ending too. I read it right after Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, both about young boys dealing with losing a parent, both very different, both very good!
