Beth (bethwerling) Sheryl, I know--I read Baby Proof and found it predictable. I was disappointed with Love the One You're With.

Thanks Dionisia... I'll go read your review. If I find it in the library I'll read it, otherwise I'll give it a pass.

Kathy (hnybee411) I just started To Taste Temptation by Elizabeth Hoyt. It's okay so far. Nothing spectacular. Hoping it picks up once I get a little further into it.

message 11505: by Lori Ann (new)

Lori Ann | 105 comments I just finished Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, nice and short! I'm now headed to the library to try and knock off some of the books on my TBR list! (doesn't seem to ever get smaller!)

I don't think I've ever read anything funnier than the first chapter of that book.

Kristin (kg05) | 310 comments Cait.. Did you read Bloodsucking Fiends? I think thats the best one i've read by him. I liked You Suck too.. I got Dirty Job today so i cant wait to read it.. and Im excited to start the stupidest christmas angel or whatever its called, i think it'll be hilarious.

I am reading Fluke right now and I am not at all into it, Practical Demonkeeping was alright, it had the Detective in it from You suck and Blood. Fiends.. I want all of his books though and I have Coyote Blue too so hopefully that ones better than Fluke.

Dirty Job is a great book, it was one of our group reads too, so be sure to check out the thread when you are done.

Have you read Stupidest Angel? My first and most favorite Moore novel!!!

message 11510: by GracieKat (new)

GracieKat | 864 comments I put Snake Agent on pause. For some reason I'm having a hard time getting into it. I started reading At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon. I got it from the library to swap for something but I thought I'd read it first. It's a cute little story so far but I don't think I'll keep it when I'm done with it.

message 11511: by JSou (new)

JSou I'm currently reading The Third Policeman. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend so I can start one of the group reads for June. I haven't decided which one I'm going to start first though!

Jessica, this is another great one! Do yourself a favor, and DO NOT read the intro! It spoils the main plot line of the book..... I hope you like this one!

message 11513: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (kg05) | 310 comments I have Stupidest Angel but I haven't read it yet but I think it looks awesome. I read You Suck, Bloodsucking Fiends, Lamb and Practical Demonkeeping.. Im on Fluke now but im not enjoying it much and am almost ready to not finish it, its just not pulling me in like his other books.

It doesn't get better IMO. Fluke was definitely a disappointment to me and I stopped reading Christopher Moore afterwards until I happened to pick up Fool which I loved.

message 11515: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (kg05) | 310 comments I still need to get Fool, the Island of sequined love nun and that lust lizard one and then i think ill have them all. have you read coyote blue?? My friend read 100 pages into fluke then gave up, if it doesnt drag you in after 100 pages its not worth it. Practical Demonkeeping wasnt bad but i think the three in the vamp series were the best..

and if he's writing another book after You Suck that would be AWESOME.. unless he meant Dirty Job?

message 11516: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 310 comments I finished reading Hunger Games today. I thought it was good but I think I would've liked it better at 13. Some of the relationship stuff felt kind of silly to me. I started reading A Stir of Echoes by Richard Matheson which is good so far but I can't get Kevin Bacon out of my head...darn movie. It was pretty good though.

message 11517: by [deleted user] (last edited May 30, 2009 12:30AM) (new)

Finished The Immaculate Deception. Fun. It's been on my (physical) shelves for centuries. I didn't realize it was the end or almost of a series. Now I'm going to have to read the earlier ones!

We are going away for the (Italian) long holiday weekend and I will read Disgrace. I'm looking forward to it, and hope it is better than The Human Stain, with which it shares some aspects.

message 11518: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (kg05) | 310 comments I take back my comment above, i do remember seeing info about Chris Moores new book "Bite Me" its supposed to come out next year, that excites me to no end I completely forgot all about that. I should have all of his other books done by then and it gives me a new book to look forward to for next year!

There's also a book coming out in June, i think its White for Witching (or something to that nature) its already released in the asian countries (i believe) since some reviews are out on it and its supposed to be excellent, I cannot wait to get that one.

I didnt finish Fluke, although I left my bookmark in where I left off, if ever I dont have anything else to read I will finish it up but when i have so many other good books to read id rather not read something I just cant find myself wanting to read more of.

Right now I'm reading Away by Amy Bloom, Im about 40 or so pages in and im really enjoying it so far!

I was very pleasantly surprised by the Sookie series. I was not a fan of Twilight, and I'm not really into chicklit/romance, but I love these. There is enough mystery, action and humor to balance everything out. I'm very anxious to get them all read, once I can get them from the library.

Liz I recently finished A Bad Spell for the Worst Witch and am working on The Worst Witch at Sea (hooray for light reading during papers!). I@m also still working on Virgil's Aeneid and plan on starting Tolkien's Gown, a collection of short stoires, Tuesday if not earlier.

No, so far I've only read You Suck and The Stupidest Angel (which I also loved). I have A Dirty Job here too, so I'll be reading that very soon. I'm kind of bummed that I didn't read Blood Sucking Fiends first but I got tired of waiting for it at the library. I know I'm going to buy them all anyway, so I should just do it now and get it over with. :o)

I will read at almost any time of the day, but those are my 2 favorite times to read. My afternoon reading takes place outside in our screened in porch or lying on a blanket under a shade tree in the yard with my dog close by.

message 11536: by Diane (new)

Diane (dianedj) Morgan, I read The Other Boleyn Girl and loved it too. It was a fast read for me.

I also read the Queen's Fool. Then there is the Boleyn Inheritance that I want to read. I started the Constant Princess but thought it was dull and never got past page 30.

message 11538: by Della (new)

Della I'm reading The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. Its a short book, but really touching. Bruno is a nine year old runt who is forced into moving from Berlin to the house 'With-Out'. Its a barren home of which is the subject of his hate. He has a sister, Gretel, whom he refeers to as, 'The Hopeless Case'. He befriends one of the boys in the death camps near his home--his father a Nazi--and its touching what an innocent relationship they can have, without them realizing they are worlds apart and have very different paths of life to lead. I'm only 177 pages into it, but am addicted!

Diane, I started Woman In White tonight as well. It has certainly started well, hasn't it? I rather like the Victorian novels.

message 11541: by Diane (new)

Diane (dianedj) Yes, Petra it did start well - it grabbed me immediately. I didn't want to do anything today except read. It's bed time for me, but the book's coming with me ! I really love reading something that was written in 1860. This will be my first discussion with the group and I'm looking forward to it.

Just started Biker Chicks, the magnetic attraction of women to bad boys and motorbikes by Arthur Veno & Edward Winterhalder. I think its going to be good, it's starting off like (from what i've noticed) a lot of Biker books start off like, and thats with the history, which i don't mind. Basically its the first (to my & the authurs knowledge) book on the subject of women in the biker world where the actual women were spoken to, which as you can imagine would give a different view to that of men that have previously been asked.

message 11546: by Liz (new)

Liz I've just finished The worst Witch at Sea and will be starting The Worst Witch to the Rescue.

message 11547: by PDXReader (new)

PDXReader I just finished Lisa See's newest, Shanghai Girls. I'd read Snow Flower & the Secret Fan some time ago, and thought it was OK but not great, and so I wasn't terribly excited when I got asked to review Shanghai Girls. I have to admit, though, that I LOVED it. Great depth, excellent historical detail. I'm on to Ghostwalk, by Rebecca Stott, as my next book.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments Just finished The Johnstown Flood by David McCullough. I think it's his first book (1968, if I'm not mistaken), and it's a lot thinner than his other ones, but still very good.

No idea about my next non-fiction. I'll probably roam around the house until I see something that looks interesting.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments I just started Water for Elephants today! I'm excited because I'm using it for the Summer Challenge and because it has been sitting on my shelf for months!

message 11550: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne Hi Kim,
I read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan last summer. I throughly enjoyed it. Yesterday at Barnes and Nobles, I spotted Shanghi Girls. Didn't buy it at the time. Maybe at a later time.
