What are you reading?

I liked that the characters seemed real. They all had real flaws and no one had a 'perfect' life. I also liked the ending alot , but I don't want to give that away.

I loved Eleanor Rigby! Coupland is my favorite.

Sounds right up my alley, John! [book:The Queen a..."
The Queen and I was recommended to me so I read it first and thought it was very funny. That was last year and I was ready for more laughs that is why I read Queen Camilla. They are great antodotes to heavy books.

Agreed, I started re-reading it last night and I was like "Wow, I forgot how awesome this book was!" Looking forward to reading the rest; it's been a long time =)

I'm about halfway through but I admit I was hoping for a bit more. The zombies just seem to distract (and detract) from the original story without having enough substance to add anything new. From my perspective it isn't silly enough to be funny in its own right and has interrupted the original flow of the book so as to lose some of the original sarcastic humour that I adore from Jane Austen. Will definitely finish it but it is a bit of a disappointment. Who knows, maybe it will pick up in the second half.

I loved The Art of Racing in the Rain too. Much preferred it to the more popular Marley & Me.

It wasn't Grisham's best but still pretty good.
Going to read Crazy for the Storm A Memoir of Survival by Norman Ollestad next.
This is an ARC I won off bookreporter.com
So far, pretty good.

For those of you who read it, did y..."
Loved The Book of Lost Things. Not sure I read or remembered the stuff at the end about the fairy tales generally though...might have to go back and browse through my copy.

I don't have a Kindle but I have an alternative eink device and I read almost exclusively on it now. Love it. The new Kindle (3) looks pretty big though, one of the nice things about mine is that it is about paperback size in height and width but thinner and lighter making it very comfortable and portable.

Fiona and Camerandi, who are both reading Anne of Green Gables. I'm not sure how I missed reading this book while I was growing up, just can't imagine what happened, but I do now own a copy and intend to rectify that gross oversight very soon.

I'm going to read it soon when a bookcrossing buddy sends it to me. How is it?

It is a lovely book - and surprising. It doesn't take you where you expect it would - nice.

I read my copy in snippets - it's enough that way.
:O)

Grace - two excellent books there.

I think my next book will be Between Here and April.

I should check if the library has it because I dont have place for now to put my books, so can't buy any....but end of august I ma going for a wedding to Italy so can leave some books there:-)
Checked online for the library but they don't seem to have it...

Seems interest. A body of a young girl has been found in the borderlands which is the border between northern ireland and the republic of ireland. Living ere maes it all more realistic and tells you also a bit of history, even if it is only a mini bit.

I really liked it, particularly the beginning when she talks about being a little girl growing up with her grandmother. I want to read her others too.

Yep, I'm not very far in but I'm loving all the descriptions of Stamps and her life with her grandmother. The writing is absolutely beautiful.

Grace, Saving Fish from Drowning is one of my favorite books. Very witty.

I read The Sparrow a couple weeks ago Petra, and I loved it! I am now anxiously awaiting the sequel, Children of God that I ordered and the mailman can't bring fast enough! :)
I finished I Capture the Castle and Dead Until Dark this weekend and will start the second Sookie Stackhouse book tonight.

Jessica, I find myself feeling so badly for Sandoz and I don't know why (yet). LOL! I'm glad to hear the the story remains good until the end and very glad to hear that there's a sequel.
Have you ever read a book that was written by the main character as a first person narrative, but became a history lesson book as well? Angle of Reposestarts out with the main guy, and he is really interesting and I want to read more about HIM and less about his grandparents lives... but that is the whole point of the book... his grandparents past...
I cant put it down because I am just made that way. It takes alot for me to give up on a book, but I keep wanting to scream at the guy to stop it with the history lesson and get back to HIMSELF already!

Hi Patricia - no worries. 4 dogs - I am jealous! The Art of Racing in the Rain is my favorite animal book so far. You should check out an older book - The Cat Who Went to Paris by Peter Gethers. There was a trilogy actually. Dewey is one of my to reads SOON.

Glad to read you enjoyed this Lisa. I bought The Red Leather Diary and then saw that Lily Koppel is a Good Reads author. Did you know that?

Glad to know someone else is hav..."
Catherine (and Sherrie although I did not see Sherrie's post) - I think you should stick with Atonement. I know some parts are a bit cumbersome, particuarly when Robbie is serving time in the war, but this book ended up be one of my all time favorites. You will get to a point when you cannot put it down and I think you will be happy to have read it once you finish.

I'm only on page 24 but I'm really liking it. I love all of her other books so I'm hoping this one will be good, too.

I really thought it was interesting but, yeah, it is a pretty heavy book to get into.

Isn't that fantastic, I am looking out for her sequel.

Excellent story, tough stuff but we all should learn from it.

It is about three women taking a trip in a camper van.
Also reading Oyster for my Book club "Caffeine and Chapters"

Thanks for the recommendation. I finsihed A Doll's House last night, am otherwise working on the Aeneid.
