I haven't read any of his sci-fi work either, but I knew he had written some. I might check out some of those titles when I'm through with this one. I mainly picked this one up since it was on the 1001 book list, which I'm slowly trying to work through!
Just finished Hold Tight by Harlan Coben and really liked it. At times, it was a bit difficult to continue reading because of the tense situations going on in the story, but was not disappointed.
Picked up my books from the library today, so excited!Breathers A Zombie's Lament by S. G. Browne
If On a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino
Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor
The Prestige by Christopher Priest
I just started Water for Elephants. I'm also getting a head start on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by listening to it on audio while in the car and cleaning house. As usual with the HP series, I'll probably switch from audio to the physical copy of the book when the story really starts picking up.I was listening to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on audio. I thought Stephen Fry was a fantastic narrator and I was laughing out loud right from the start, but I noticed that I kept getting distracted and having to backtrack because I was missing things. I've got the book waiting to be picked up at the library though, and I can't wait to get back to that story.
Kim wrote: "I just started Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jennifer Lancaster. I needed a light, funny read, and loved her 1st book, Bitter is the New Black."I love Jen Lancaster too! I'm almost at the top of my library's hold list for Such a Pretty Fat, and I'm anxiously awaiting Pretty in Plaid.
Do any of you read her blog Jennsylvania? She's hysterical.
Well I did give up on BLEAK HOUSE by Dickens, but after watching the mini-series, I am interested in it again. Sometimes I have to watch the movie first.I'm also reading a book on Plot & Structure.
And "The 80/10/10 Diet"
Still listening to "The Glimpses of the Moon" by Edith Wharton, but I'm almost done with it.
Jessica wrote: "I am currently reading The Wasp Factory. So far, it's very strange..."
ooohhh I keep meaning to pick this one up. I heard it was very creepy!!

I'm on the waiting list for P&P&Zombies! Right now I'm rereading Robin McKinley; for whatever reason, I did not like her books very much when I was in the intended age group. I loooved Sunshine, so I thought I'd try her earlier works again...a couple I really liked and the others are okay. I think they require more patience than I had as a kid!
Finally finished all 728-small-font-size pages of A Clash of Kings. I am loving this series. 5 stars all the way. The first is A Game of Thrones if anyone is interested. Now I'm about halfway through Dear Jane Austen A Heroine's Guide to Life and Love. Think Dear Abby written by Jane Austen. It's cute so far, but if you're worried about spoilers for her books, there are a few in here. It's not bothering me though. I think I'll forget the little bit I've stumbled on by the time I actually read the books I haven't gotten to yet.
Kristen wrote: "Just finished Fragile Eternity, LOVED IT.... I want more now.. *po..."OOOh great! I am excited to get it. She does leave you wanting more between books.

also btw, i suggest some books for the young and old reader: The Dragon Riders of Pern. LONGEST SERIES U WILL EVER READ!! i read five books a week and it took my two and a half months to finish. im STILL not done. but i love it. its by Anne Mccaffrey. I also suggest the song of the lioness series by tamora peirce, and all her other books. i LOVE THEM!!
Maureen wrote: "I've just started Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. I think I'm going to dig this one!" I want to read it, but im a scardy cat and my friends dont suggest it. i once had a nightmare about scooby doo monsters! rofl. my parents made me stop reading the books. it was so lol!
I just finished Harlan Coben's newest book "Long Lost". I couldn't put it aside for a second. It's one of his best books so far.
i just started dead until dark, the 1st sookie stackhouse book. i didn't think i would really like it, since i wasn't a huge fan of twilight, and i'm not into chick lit, but i'm loving it! it's so hard to put down.there's just enough action/mystery going on that keeps me hooked!
I just finished Dear Jane Austen A Heroine's Guide to Life and Love and I'll probably start The Pillars of the Earth next.
Ahuva wrote: "I just finished Harlan Coben's newest book "Long Lost". I couldn't put it aside for a second. It's one of his best books so far."
That is good to know Ahuva. I really was not a big fan of Harlan Coben's last book Hold Tight. I will have to move up Long Lost on my TBR list.
Just finished Spilling The Beans - Clarissa Dickson Wright (ML/Audio). Will now read Tethered - Amy McKinon (ML)
I finished Beyond Ragnarok a few days ago and am working on Dracula primarily now, but also a few chapters of Great Expectations in between. I have read GE before, but I needed to reread it for class, didn't finish, and am now trying to do so to see how I interpret it differently this time around.
Susan wrote: "Just read The Pact by Jodi Picout. One of those books you can't put down."I am looking forward to reading The Pact, I just finished Change of Heart by Picoult.
I was a bit conflicted about The Pact. It was one of those books where I was annoyed by every character. I couldn't stand not one of them. It was a good story, but the characters were all too selfish for me.As for Change of Heart, I loved that one! I cried so hard throughout most of the novel. It's just too sad.
Alisha, I was bawling at the end of Change of Heart. I felt bad for everyone at that point. It was definitely an emotional book.
Just finished Welcome to the Departure Lounge by Meg Frederico. Good enough that I would have missed my train stop if a kindly soul had not informed me it was the last stop. I would have heading back to Phila., after a long days work!!! Just started The Gate House by Nelson Demille. This is a sequel to Gold Coast. So far it seems to be more of the same or maybe I am being impatient with the prelimaries(review of the first book). I am very fond of Nelson Demille's John Cory character in Plum Island, Lion's Game and Night Fall and Wild Fire. Looking forward to the sequel to that series next year! Happy reading!!
I just started reading Hidden Riches by Nora Roberts it will be my first Nora Roberts book. Hope I like it!
Ahuva wrote: "I just finished Harlan Coben's newest book "Long Lost". I couldn't put it aside for a second. It's one of his best books so far."
Good to know, that one's on my list! I love Win, he's such a psycho.
I am reading The Lace Reader. I switched from reading I AM Messenger to the audio version, which I am really enjoying.
i'm currently reading invisible man by ralph ellison for school, and was able to work it into the challange. i'm only have to read about 15-20 pages a day to keep up the the assigned reading for class, so i'm also still working on the many life and deaths of harry houdini for the challenge as well.
Just finished Children of God by Mary Doria Russell.Deciding between Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury, or maybe Dreamers of the Day by Mary Doria Russell.
Am almost done with Honolulu by Alan Brennert who also wrote Moloka'i. I am enjoying it but not quite as much as I did his first book.
Have tried to get into Tethered - Amy McKinnon (ML). So I will go on to my library books I have a couple here still. Will read The Five People you meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom and then will read Honeymoon - James Patterson & Howard Roughan.
A GR frined recommended Johsilyn Jackson as a new author to check out. Well, I started this month by reading Between, Georgia. Then read Gods in Alabama and I'm now reading her third book The Girl Who Stopped Swimming. I've listened to them all on CD and the author has been the narrator, which mas made the reading experience even more fantastic! I LOVE her books. Great mysteries, breat characters. I can't say enough about her. Check out these books!
Thanks, Debby. I enjoyed Between Georgia sometime last year, then sort of forgot about this author. Thanks for reminding me!

Thanks for the link, Mosca! I will definately check that out! This is the first Banks novel I've read, so I'm glad to hear that it's just not me finding this one bizarre. I just started it last night, so I'll keep you posted on what I think as I go along!
