Jackie (thenightowl) Oh I just read Two for the Dough this past weekend! I liked it better than the first. How are you enjoying it so far?

Stephanie (sbez05) | 556 comments Really liking it! And it's going SO much quicker than the last book I read, which is a nice change of pace :) I also think I'm enjoying it more than the first so far.

Maria (minks05) | 481 comments finished Bleeding Hearts by Ian Rankin the other night, and just started The Mistress of the Art of Death. good so far!

message 10154: by Lori Ann (new)

Lori Ann | 105 comments I finished Watership Down and am now reading 1984 because I somehow didn't have to read in hs... I'm only 30 pgs in and loving it already. I've loved Animal Farm for years so I guess I'm partial to Orwell's writing style...

message 10155: by Jamie (new)

Jamie I finished The Lightning Thief this morning and have moved on to the next book in the series: The Sea of Monsters.

message 10156: by JuliAnna (new)

JuliAnna | 85 comments I just finished Dissolution, and I want to thank Susanna and the others here who recommended it. It is definitely one of the best historical mysteries I have read. It makes me want to dig up some good nonfiction about Cromwell's reforms.

Alisha Marie (endlesswonderofreading) | 715 comments Ha, Jeane, trust me it was not easy for me to put that one down. The thing is that the library was an impulse trip for me (my little sister who's four saw that we were passing it and begged me to stop, so that she could pick up books) and no matter how much I try, I can't leave empty-handed. And once I have library books, I can't pick up anything I own since they're do first (that's the main reason I'm only just now getting to the Scarpetta novels as opposed to November when I actually purchased them).

Don't worry, though, as soon as I finish my library books, I'm picking it right back up.

I read that one a couple of weeks ago and thought it was already much better than the first one too.

I agree - whenever someone was talking about an HP move, I walked away because I hadn't read the book yet. A few friends were talking about Marley and Me (movie), which I haven't read yet, now I don't want to read it because they mentioned a few things, plus a lot of reviews mentioned unpositive things

Jamie I started "Lightning Thief" a few months ago while working and was very interested in it. I meant to get it from the public library so I could finish it but forgot. Thanks for reminding me to get it!

JSou I'm still trying to finish up World War Z, so I can start Shadow of the Wind. My copy finally came in the mail! Hurray!

It's been a busy week, and haven't been able to get much reading done. Hopefully I can finish WWZ tonight, so I can dive on in to SOTW this weekend.

message 10168: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Paula - The Percy Jackson books seem to be fast and fun reads - I even got my husband into them (and he rarely ever reads). I hope you enjoy it!

message 10169: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey Started Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch yesterday and hope to finish it today. I think I will start I Capture the Castle after that.

message 10176: by Celeste (new)

Celeste (celestelueck) | 107 comments I'm read The Expected One by McGowen. I'm really enjoying it so far. It's a story about Mary Magdalene mainly and how her reputation was intentionally tainted. The second book in the series just came out, it's called The Book of Love. If this one goes well I'll definitelly pick up that one.

Thank you Ann for the thumbs up on A Reliable Wife. I was wondering about that book. I'll have to add it to my huge TBR pile. I love GR.

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Lisa wrote: "I just finished The Shadow of the Wind. I have Rebecca and The Historian from the library, so I will be picking on of those next."

Oh Lisa, great books. I read rebecca some years ago and don't remember what it was about but I have still a good feeling about it. shadow of the wind is great and i love The historian. Hopefully you keep reading the latter because many find it boring in the beginning. But when two stories are started to be told it becomes so good.

message 10181: by Chrystal (new)

Chrystal | 144 comments I just finished One For the Money.....will definitely be picking up the rest of this series from the library. I'm getting ready to start The Final Victim by Wendy Corsi Staub later today.

JG (Introverted Reader) I finished Salt A Novel by Isabel Zuber. It was okay. I felt a little too much outside the story. I think it was written that way intentionally, but that's not a style I care for.

Now I'm reading the second book in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice Series, A Clash of Kings. This is an amazing epic fantasy series.

message 10183: by Mary (new)

Mary | 203 comments I finished The Reader a few days ago. It is a quick read - beautifully written and translated. It raises very interesting questions regarding the power of truth and love as well as the guilt of post-WWII Germans coming to terms with the previous generation's role in the Holocaust. Difficult subject matter but I am glad that I read it and am sure it will stay with me for quite a while.

Now I am on to Shadow of the Wind.

Jeanne, I did start The Historian yesterday. I'm about 150 pages in. So far, it's good enough to hold my attention. With over 600 pages, I'm hoping it gets better, though.

message 10187: by Sharon (new)

Sharon | 24 comments OMG! I love that book, it gets to be very captivating. I didn't really enjoy the current story from the daughter's point of view, but the adventures of her father and mother are amazing!

I'm currently reading It's All Right Now, which is proving to be a bit slow. Funny, but slow. For class I'm reading The Second Sex and I'm actually really enjoying that one.

I read this book a few years ago. I totally loved this book. Yes, it starts out a little slow, but I really like the way the author takes us into these European countries and puts a more realistic twist on Count Dracula. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
