I'm sorry Titch! That's a bummer. Are you past the bank stuff?
Kandice,I hit a great stretch of Watchmen this weekend. I definitely like some sections more than others, but regardless I'm glad that I am reading it. Thanks again for convincing me to start it. You should join in on the discussion of it this month on the group SciFi & Fantasy Book Club.

Not a bad way to s..."Paula, i've read most of Clive Cussler's books, and i've really enjoyed them all. the later ones, when Dirk Pitt's kids are part of the story, are really good. he has another series of books out, the main character is different (can't remember his name right now) but they are just as good, and some of the characters in the Dirk Pitt series make appearances in those as well.

Thanks. I'm really glad you are reading it. I'm not really a comic book reader, but some of this style... well, they are so much more than people think they are. I'll try to find the group your talking about. Sounds right up my alley;)
So the whole no-internet-at-work thing has been killing me this week. I had 108 unread posts on this thread alone! I'm too tired when I get home to catch up, so that's 3 days of what feels like total information blackout. But it's been really good for reading.
I finished Dissolution and loved it. Every time I opened it, I was immediately right back in 16th-century England. Highly recommend this one.
I read the graphic novel of Coraline. I can see why kids love it. It would have creeped me out when I was 10 or 12, but for me now, it was just okay.
I read Big Stone Gap. This was so good! I think those of you who loved Guernsey--Laura--will like this one too. They didn't really have anything in common, but they both left me feeling good and with a smile on my face.
Now I'm starting A Lion Among Men Volume Three in the Wicked Years. I won this on the GR book giveaway, but so far I'm not getting into it. Maybe because it's been so long since I read the other two. I'll keep trying though.

You can read the entire book from this link . I'm not sure if this is a permanent link or a promotion but for now you can read this book without paying anything:
Just finished Out to Canaan the 4th book of the Mitford Series. It was so-so. Nothing great.Going to start The Full Cupboard of Life
by Alexander Mc Call Smith
I love the Precious series!
So, I just finished my addiction book: Star Wars: Millennium Falcon. It was awesome, albeit just a filler book until the real meat of the story comes in April. But I did really like it. I actually have two to choose from...suggestions?
1.The Story of Edgar Sawtelle A Novel
or
2. Wizard's First Rule
I'm wavering between them...has anybody read both, or either of them? :)
Robin, thanks for the link to Coraline, I just started reading it online.I'm about 140 pages into Edwidge Danticat's The Dew Breaker and am loving it. I read her Brother, I'm Dying for class recently, but I'm more of a fan of her fiction than her memoir.
Katie,
I don't want to cause a fight but I would read any book over Edgar Sawtelle. I just didn't get the reason anyone liked that one.
Linda wrote: "Liz wrote: "Ann from S.C. wrote: "Finally finished THE HOUR I FIRST BELIEVED by Wally Lamb. It was great. Now I am getting into WHAT IS THE WHAT, and also starting THE ART ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN..."I LOVE Enzo!!!

Robin wrote: "Added another to my "in process" stack- Princess Bride came in from library."I love the movie! If the book is as good, I'm going to have to pick it up!
Oh Ive read Princess Bride. Its so much like the movie that you cant help but hear the characters as you read it!
I stayed up late and read most o and kind of skimmed to the end of The Other Mother. It started off good but then just seemed to lose interest. So I have started Nursery Crimes and can already tell its going to be a quick and fun read.I love reading a cozy fun mystery after reading books that were just blah for me.
Lori is right! I think the casting for that movie was soooo perfect! I have probably seen it 100 times, and still alugh out loud every time. I have also read that book out loud to my children at least 3 times all the way through, and countless times just read passages. We all love it!!!!
TeraD wrote: "Lori, I love Sookie...sad that I have read all the books, but trying to be patient.Currently reading The Poisonwood Bible...excellent book!"
Don't you find the poisonwood bible a bit heavy and dark?

Finished sooner to do that because we are allowed during lunch but don't like using the internet at work.
I am just starting Wicked by Gregory Maguire. It's been on my TBR shelf for over a year now, but I just never picked it up. I don't know what I expected, but I am seriously loving this book! The musical was incredible, but the book is amazing. The writing is just spectacular.
Eliza - really glad you are liking it. I too love the musical I think it is fantastic. I unfortunately did not like the book - the two are pretty different in tone and I much prefer the musical - but I hope you get enjoyment from both.
Mel wrote: "The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Not sure what I think so far."Let me know what you think, it's on my "to read" list. Thanks!

But I did see a film based on one of his books "Sahara". I'm definately going to read the rest of his books, probably starting with the first. Gosh, my "to read" list keeps getting larger and larger...
Thanks for the info!
I'm reading:The Master and Margarita
Sister Bernadette's Barking Dog The Quirky History and Lost Art of Diagramming Sentences
The Trial
And am almost finished with all 3.
I finished "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman and liked it, but have to admit I thought "The Graveyard Book" was better. It will be interesting to see how it translates to film. The trailer looks intriguing. I'm now starting on "Spares" by Michael Marshall Smith, newly arrived from the library. I'm already having a bit of trouble with the name of the hero, however. His name is Jack Randall, and those of you reading the Outlander series can figure out why I have trouble rooting for someone with that name. It keeps taking me right out of the story :-D
Dorie wrote: "I finished "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman and liked it, but have to admit I thought "The Graveyard Book" was better. It will be interesting to see how it translates to film. The trailer looks intrigui..."Just put both of these on reserve at my library ... thanks for the review!
Right now I'm reading Change Me into Zeus's Daughter A Memoir and it's compelling so far. Although, it does seem to jump around a lot.
Connie wrote: "I'm reading:The Master and Margarita
I loved that book. one of my favourites ever, but I recomended it to a friend whit similar reading tastes and he didnt even finished it. what do you think of it?
I just finished You Suck by Christopher Moore. I liked the beginning and middle a lot, but the end kind of fell apart for me, hence why I gave it four stars.I plan on starting The Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier today.

Although the sequence of each book is the same, I think they are great light reads. Dirk Pitt has ruined real men for me :).
Allison wrote: "Robin, I hope you like The Princess Bride! :) It is one of my absolute favorites, I LOVE it! :)"If it is anything like the movie I'm sure I will - the movie is one of my favorites.
I'm reading The Mirror by Marlys Millniser. I think I read it in college and loved it then and was thrilled to find it at the resale shop yesterday.
Vanessa wrote: "Paula wrote: "Maria wrote: "Paula wrote: "I'm currently reading Inca Gold by Clive Cussler. I've never read his books before. The early ones were my favorites for the most part as they have gotten to be a bit formulaic, but if you haven't read THE CHASE (2007?) it was one of his better ones in quite some time.
I am sick so last night when I couldnt sleep I finished Away. It was really good. Better than I expected. Today I started The Glass Castle, but I am only 9 pages into it so have not formed an opinion yet.
I finished The Hunchback of Notre Dam yesterday. I didn't really like it much. It took a long time for me to read, even though it wasn't very long.I have moved on to World War Z. I'm really enjoying it so far.
Lisa wrote: "I have moved on to World War Z. I'm really ..."I really enjoyed World War Z - interesting book - not normally my style but both my daughter and husband harped on me to read it.

I'm interested in knowing what it was that I missed about it because I know a lot of people do like it.

I noticed she "privated" herself, cause I looked at her profile to see WTF?
That's also why I made the progesterone comment, as she looks like maybe she's pre-menopausal or may need some kind of hormonal assistance.
