What are you reading?

IMHO, his best - I find this rule is often the case: An author's first is the best! Like John Grisham's "Time to Kill"!

Jenna,
I finally saw your post on Reluctant Fundamentalist. (Geesh, I work three days and there are a gazillion posts to catch up on!) I know what you are saying about leaving it up to us to decide, but I prefer a closed ending. I hate wondering and wondering. Oh well. It was still worth the ride!
I am so happy to see this post updated all day long every day. Its such a great thing to be able to read about what everyone else is reading..... even tho I hardly have the time to post anymore....
I read two books in two days last week. Recluctant Fundamentalist and As She Climbed Over the Table. Both were just too good to put down till they were done!
Now I am reading Treasure Island. I dont know why, but I never picked it up when I was younger. Im not very far into it, but I am liking it.

a room of one's own & Comfort of Strangers

Right now, I'm reading Heartsick by Chelsea Cain and it's good so far. It's been a while since I've read a police procedural and a good thriller, so I'm looking forward to reading it.

So true :-)

It is chic lit, sometimes I like the distraction."
Liz I also just started The Beach House. For some reason I've been in the mood for light 'chic lit' lately!

Ann, I loved The Art of Racing in the Rain. I was so taken with that book that I bought his
How Evan Broke His Head and Other Secrets, but have not had the chance to start reading it yet. Would love to know what you think of Enzo.

"
I've been wondering how you're doing with Messenger Fiona. You gotta get past the bank robbery part at the beginning to get into his quest, where it becomes so interesting and unique too.

I was wondering about that part Laura. Looked boring at the beginning. Will carry on tho from your recommedation hun xx

Wow been years since I thought of that one - it is really good and I'm not a huge sci-fi fan.

My mother is so not a science fiction fan and she's read and enjoyed The Martian Chronicles. She was the one who gave it to me, actually, when I was about ten.

Anyone else reading it?

reading the winter rose right now. it's the sequel to the the tea rose by jennifer donnoley.

The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama
Airhead by Meg Cabot
A Companion to Wolves by Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear
Heidi by Johanna Spyri
Thankfully, they're all so different that I can't get them confused!

i'm wondering how this book is. it's on my list, and sounds very interesting, i'll be looking forward to your thoughts when you finish it!
i know what you mean about the hubby being put off that the book he got you wasn't your #1 priority...mine got me Tales of the Beedle Bard, and i just finished it Saturday. i had other stuff in line before that, he just needs to learn to be patient!

melissa, we're on the same reading page! i'm still struggling with JS, but i've been reading The Heretic's Daughter. i'm really enjoying this one!

Maria and Melissa, I so loved the Heretic's Daughter - the Salem Witch Trials told from a totally different perspective! Since I live in the next town over from Salem MA, it was even more poignant and interesting ...

I am really enjoying these easy to read books as they are full of things to think about and emotions etc. So glad I got to read them all one straight after the other too !
I can't put them down. I anticipate finishing it in a day or so and then I don't know what I will read lol.

I was really wishing that mine dear spouse had gotten out my list of books I wanted--there are probably 100 or more that he could have chosen. I'm hoping I enjoy "Mistress" and don't just end up annoyed with him!

As She Climbed Across the Table is about a female physisist who falls in love with a black hole. very humorous and very very well written.

Oh, I have that book but haven't read it. I'll be interested what you think of it.
I took my time reading through "A Fraction of the Whole" and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although I think it went on for a little too long, the characters were incredibly interesting. I've now started The Devil's Bones A Novel by Jefferson Bass.

Oh, I just read A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly and loved it! She's an amazing writer!

The length of Jonathan Strange is the only drawback. I really enjoyed it. If you're not sure, but you like audio books then I'd try that. The reader of the audio book is amazing!

Yeah, it took me a while to get through JS, but it was worth it. I really enjoyed it!

Really glad you are liking that - I know nothing about it except a good friend of mine (she runs one of my face2face book clubs) claims that is the worst book ever ;-(

LOL, JS&MN sure has a way of slowing down the reads for a period of time - I think it is the book I worked the hardest at in a long long time.

Me too - it looks so big but it does go fast.
Dorie, just click on the link to see my review....
I really enjoyed it. I read it in one day cause i couldnt put it down.

It sounds weird enough I'll probably like it! I'll have to kick it up higher in the TBR pile. I loved Motherless Brooklyn (of course), and I also enjoyed his "Girl In Landscape", another odd but good book.
I'm having a hard time with Everything Is Illuminated A Novel - is it me? did everyone love it or not?
