Jackie (thenightowl) I want to finish A Sweet Far Thing first. I need about a quarter of the book to go, so I should be ready to go by Wed.

How were we going to do the discussion?

message 7903: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Carrie, I'm really, really liking it. There are a couple of twists, so I feel like Gemma does- I don't know who to trust. I like how Libba Bray keeps the reader guessing. If you liked Rebel's Angels you will like this one because it has a similar pace.

Heather, that sounds like a good idea.

I've seen the movie, and I've wanted to read it! It's definitely on my list!

You Suck is funny! I especially like the character of Abby Normal.

Angela | 1934 comments Just finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See, which I loved and would recommend!
Going to try and finish Little Women, but for some reason it is not grabbing my attention.

I'm interested in hearing what you think of the Christopher Moore. My son's girlfriend reads every vampire book she can get her hands on and I thought she might like this one.

Heather, I have somehow missed The Outlander postings. Is a group starting this book? I have it on my short list for this year and am really looking forward to reading it.

I have been obsessed with Dexter since the first book!!

Susan (NY) I just finished reading Nights in Rodanthe. Even though you know how it's going to end, it's still a tearjerker.

Kathy, we haven't started yet. I think the plan is to start around Wed. A few people still have to get their copies (myself included). You're more than welcome to join in. :-)

I'm glad you are liking Les Misérables. I was surprised by how much I liked it, when I finally got around to reading it. It is definitely a book that I would consider reading again.

Oh Eliza, I'm so glad you read TKAM. It has long been one of my favorites. I've taught the novel in high school, and it has so much to offer.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 510 comments I'm currently reading Too Close to Home by Linwood Barclay, a thriller that grabbed my attention right away.

message 7916: by Lisa (new)

Lisa I just finished "I Smile Back." I can't recall a book I liked less.

message 7917: by Stef (new)

Stef (buch_ratte) | 650 comments I finally found something new to read. After Reading The Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follett which was fantastic I wasn't sure what to read next. I decided to give James Rollins a try. I started EXCAVATION last night and got to page 51. It is totally different than the book before but I like it so far.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments Started Girl with a Pearl Earring last night. It is good so far.

I will try to get it from the library but probably can only go on saturday and so if it is okay for the task that it is set in Scotland and my last name starts with S, than I am reading it too...before all the other books.

Susanna, I really liked that book. It feels such a strong story. Did you see the movie? It is as good as the book I think.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments I did not know there was a movie.

Who was in it?

I bet you'll love it! I did.

message 7924: by DevonAlyse (new)

DevonAlyse | 75 comments I'm currently into Big Boned by Meg Cabot, and I just checked out The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. I was going to read the Inkheart Trilogy before reading Gargoyle, but the whole being 1152 pages long is a little daunting. I guess that'll teach me to buy the individual books instead of the combined one!

message 7925: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments I'm re-reading AGATB and it's like falling in love all over again. It's wonderful.

I really don't remember Gemma being this funny. It's awesome. I adore british humor.

JG (Introverted Reader) I'm curious--how many times have you read AGATB, (G)Emma? :-)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments Fiona - Dissolution I really enjoyed. The whole series is good, I think.

message 7928: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I try not to re-read those books close to the movies for the SAME reason! I think I am going to put off re-reading the entire series until AFTER the last movie! That way I wont spoil the movies for myself, I can work on TBR without a month break for HP, and by the time I get to the 7th again, the movie will be behind me!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments I left The THirteenth Tale at my boyfriend's apartment so now i'm re-reading Franny and Zooey..because it's one of my favorites and it's been a while. I don't want to start anything new before i get The Thirteenth Tale back tonight!!

message 7931: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Heather - Prodigal Summer ?? YAY! You will love it, I can almost guarantee you.

Outlander group - I won't have my audio copy until at least tomorrow. I'm hoping to have my paper copy by the end of the week. (Both library holds)

:(

message 7932: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I'm reading Cat's Eye by Atwood, I am the Messenger by Zusak and A Little Princess by Burnett. 2 of the 3 are for the Winter Challenge.

message 7933: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I just started it, so far it seems really interesting and different. So I'm going with it.

message 7934: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Actually, just one time for each book JG, I'm planning to read the trilogy once every year. I don't want to read it obsessively, since there are so many other good books out there, but I want to remember it and love it again.

message 7935: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments I'm just planning to read it once a year, perhaps twice if I really want to, but no more. I don't want to miss out on some other AMAZTASTIC (new word) books just because I was obsessing over TGDT.

message 7936: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments You should if you want to!

Although, don't BUY ANY BOOKS while you are reading it.

message 7937: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments You're not fooling anyone, Fi.

That reminds me, I need to finish the HP series before the next movie comes out.

You show amazing restraint, (G)Emma! If I loved a book as much as you love these, I don't think I could hold back! :-)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments ok I am going to end up reading three books this week...probably won't finish any of them...I have started Eclipse for part of the Winter Challenge. I also started reading The Shack because my husband and I are part of a small group at church and I have to read up to chapter six by Feb. 2nd. I'm already on chapter 4 so not to worried about getting that done.
