What are you reading?
Carrie, I'm really, really liking it. There are a couple of twists, so I feel like Gemma does- I don't know who to trust. I like how Libba Bray keeps the reader guessing. If you liked Rebel's Angels you will like this one because it has a similar pace.Heather, that sounds like a good idea.

I've seen the movie, and I've wanted to read it! It's definitely on my list!

You Suck is funny! I especially like the character of Abby Normal.
Just finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See, which I loved and would recommend!Going to try and finish Little Women, but for some reason it is not grabbing my attention.

I'm interested in hearing what you think of the Christopher Moore. My son's girlfriend reads every vampire book she can get her hands on and I thought she might like this one.
Heather wrote: "I still have about 1/4 of my current book left to read too, so somewhere around Wednesday will work perfect for me.As far as the discussion goes...Laura mentioned starting a new Outlander thread ..."
Heather, I have somehow missed The Outlander postings. Is a group starting this book? I have it on my short list for this year and am really looking forward to reading it.
Lori wrote: "I am currently knee deep in the Dexter Series... I finished Darkly Dreaming Dexter last nite (a day and a half), and I am already half way through the Dearly Devoted Dexter.I have Dexter in the..."
I have been obsessed with Dexter since the first book!!
I just finished reading Nights in Rodanthe. Even though you know how it's going to end, it's still a tearjerker.
Kathy wrote: "Heather, I have somehow missed The Outlander postings. Is a group starting this book? I have it on my short list for this year and am really looking forward to reading it." Kathy, we haven't started yet. I think the plan is to start around Wed. A few people still have to get their copies (myself included). You're more than welcome to join in. :-)
Brenda Sue wrote: "I just started Les Misérables. Bit of a slow start but I still love the book so far, even if it is slow :D"I'm glad you are liking Les Misérables. I was surprised by how much I liked it, when I finally got around to reading it. It is definitely a book that I would consider reading again.
Eliza wrote: "I just finished To Kill a Mockingbird, which I had never read before now! It was the best book ever!! How did I get through 28 years of life without these characters?!? I'm trying to decide ..."
Oh Eliza, I'm so glad you read TKAM. It has long been one of my favorites. I've taught the novel in high school, and it has so much to offer.
I'm currently reading Too Close to Home by Linwood Barclay, a thriller that grabbed my attention right away.
I finally found something new to read. After Reading The Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follett which was fantastic I wasn't sure what to read next. I decided to give James Rollins a try. I started EXCAVATION last night and got to page 51. It is totally different than the book before but I like it so far.
Heather wrote: "Hey Vanessa! Looks like we're all set...just waiting on Laura to get her copy. I'm really looking forward to reading Outlander too. It sounds like it will be really good and addicting...just what I..."I will try to get it from the library but probably can only go on saturday and so if it is okay for the task that it is set in Scotland and my last name starts with S, than I am reading it too...before all the other books.

Glad you like it Angela. I really loved the book. It was so beautiful written and told.
Susanna wrote: "Started Girl with a Pearl Earring last night. It is good so far."Susanna, I really liked that book. It feels such a strong story. Did you see the movie? It is as good as the book I think.
Susanna wrote: "Started Girl with a Pearl Earring last night. It is good so far."I bet you'll love it! I did.
I'm currently into Big Boned by Meg Cabot, and I just checked out The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. I was going to read the Inkheart Trilogy before reading Gargoyle, but the whole being 1152 pages long is a little daunting. I guess that'll teach me to buy the individual books instead of the combined one!
I'm re-reading AGATB and it's like falling in love all over again. It's wonderful.I really don't remember Gemma being this funny. It's awesome. I adore british humor.
I try not to re-read those books close to the movies for the SAME reason! I think I am going to put off re-reading the entire series until AFTER the last movie! That way I wont spoil the movies for myself, I can work on TBR without a month break for HP, and by the time I get to the 7th again, the movie will be behind me!
I left The THirteenth Tale at my boyfriend's apartment so now i'm re-reading Franny and Zooey..because it's one of my favorites and it's been a while. I don't want to start anything new before i get The Thirteenth Tale back tonight!!
Heather - Prodigal Summer ?? YAY! You will love it, I can almost guarantee you.Outlander group - I won't have my audio copy until at least tomorrow. I'm hoping to have my paper copy by the end of the week. (Both library holds)
:(
I'm reading Cat's Eye by Atwood, I am the Messenger by Zusak and A Little Princess by Burnett. 2 of the 3 are for the Winter Challenge.
Actually, just one time for each book JG, I'm planning to read the trilogy once every year. I don't want to read it obsessively, since there are so many other good books out there, but I want to remember it and love it again.
I'm just planning to read it once a year, perhaps twice if I really want to, but no more. I don't want to miss out on some other AMAZTASTIC (new word) books just because I was obsessing over TGDT.
You're not fooling anyone, Fi. That reminds me, I need to finish the HP series before the next movie comes out.
Emu Kandice, emu! Please spread amaztastic around! :) Laura, hi! I've been quite busy so I haven't been on lately.

If I loved a book as much as you love these, I don't think I could hold back! :-)
Well I think that it's AMAZTASTIC that you came to visit us!*gives Emu a carrot*
Do emus eat carrots?
*pets Emu, tries to avoid the spitting*
I am reading WATER FOR ELEPHANTS by Sara Gruen. I am in the middle of it, and I like it very much. I can't wait to go back to it.
ok I am going to end up reading three books this week...probably won't finish any of them...I have started Eclipse for part of the Winter Challenge. I also started reading The Shack because my husband and I are part of a small group at church and I have to read up to chapter six by Feb. 2nd. I'm already on chapter 4 so not to worried about getting that done. I also want to start Outlander to read with some of the other ladies in this group who are reading it. :~) busy busy week...to bad I wasn't staying home all week and not working...hehe!!!
Just finished Twilight. What a quick and fun read. I can see what the appeal is to young teens and even adults.
I'm reading Luck in the Shadows. I dont remenber when was the last time I was so engaged on a book (maybe twiligth but I didnt actually like it). It been keeping me reading until late at nigth and I had to brake my not buying more books rule and order the seconde volume today.
Over the weekend I finished The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion, it was by far one of the best books I have read in a long time. Yesterday I began The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai.
