What are you reading?
No problem! LOL. You are from the UK right? Wow. Never been there. Where is it exacly? Is it part of England. My geography recollection from school is very rusty. LOL.
I am near Anglia area. Do u have a map, if I said Northamptonshire, United Kingdom. You can look that up Kelly.
Lisa, try the other Nicholas Evans books. Smoke jumper was good too, The divide really good but The loop is my favorite.
Just finished The Crimson Petal and the White by Michael Faber and have jumped into The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde... its intriguing so far.
I read THE CRIMSON PETAL AND THE WHITE a few years ago. It was great. A historical fiction about the life of a prostitute in England I think 1800's. Very good.
I bought the book about 5 years ago and decided I had to finally read it this year. Ann is right, it is about the life of a prostitute, Sugar, in England in the 1800's. I really liked the way the story was narrated and brought the reader to different people that it felt it was important to meet. Overall, it was pretty interesting and not what I would normally read, but I recommend it.
Just finished You Don't Love Me Yet and settled into East of Eden. I love the language so far, but I'm only about 40 pages in.
I finished Twilight -- wasn't impressed. And started The Crown Conspiracy - which I'm really enjoying. I'm really hoping to do the reads for this month - especially Stardust though things are terribly busy at work atm and I'm sure if I will be able to.Jane.
I just finished Atonement: A Novel--the film adaptation didn't alter much.I'm starting on Jesus Tales by Romulus Linney next.
Cynthia, u will love The Undomestic Goddess hun. I think it was a great book. I read it 2 yrs ago lol.
The Undomesticated Goddess is a good fun read!I have just started A Thousand Splendid Suns and am really enjoying it. I was a bit put off because it would be Afghan culture and I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it but actually it is a real eye opener. I didn't realise they had been through so many decades of fighting! It is also a bit of an easier read compared to the last few books I've consumed. Look set to complete it in 1 week - I am slow reader and that is unheard of for me!!! Can't wait till the bus journey home from work for my next session!
Fiona-Another Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray... it is a great book which is also a trilogy. Must read :) Ask Emma!!
Thanks, if u can recommend any books, send me a message to recommend and I will add to my list.*awaits patiently for a pile up of recommendations*
Fiona U r my hero!!! I c u everyone on this site and ur lists are amazing long and yet u cover it all!!!! If I could only....Good luck with all ur challenges!
Just finished the Koontz book. Give it a 4 star. I really enjoyed it, but have read others I liked better.
he he I am not surprised!!! I have so many books to read but I am not as lucky as you! At least the hubby helps out and ur kids are in school.
I just finished reading a great YA book, An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. It was so enjoyable--witty, full of allusions, and anagramming to boot. The main characters are just delightful. I started A Company of Liars last night. It deals with one of my favorite subjects, the Black Plague of the Fourteenth Century. The front flap description pegs it as a Canterbury Tale type of story, which is great, since I, also, love The Canterbury Tales.
I just finished Blindness (which I loved, despite the depressing feel of it) and I am now going to start The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry
Oh I know, Fiona. I buy about 204 books a week and if I get a coupon...Well then things just get messy LOL
Right now I'm reading New Moon, which I hope to finish up tonight. I'm not liking it as much as Twilight, but it's picking up more with the last couple hundred pages. I've also just started Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, but am not far enough in to really have an opinion on it yet.

Nora wrote the Circle Trilogy. I think you'll enjoy them and you might also find this site helpful http://www.vampiregenre.com/category/...
Hope that helps.

Just finished A christmas carol. It was nice but found out I loved the Disney version, seemed a bit longer too. But in some way I read the Disney version as I saw Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse as characters while reading it.Next one is or something else by Dickens or Sepulchre by kate Mosse.
I'm in the middle of The Count of Monte Cristo. It's a really great book, chalk full of French and Italian culture and history!!!
Just finished HP and the Half-Blood Prince. I'm so pissed I almost don't want to read the last one, though that's what I'm going to do now. (I would have been more prepared if I'd watched the last 3 movies.)
Finished The Undomestic Goddess - it was really great - I love Kinsella's stuff - I've read them all except for Can you keep a secret (maybe I can work it into a task for the next challenge....mmmm....lol).Next on my list is The Mighty Queens of Freeville: A Mother, a Daughter, and the People Who Raised Them I got it as an arc from b&n a wee bit back and since I'm going out of town and don't want to take library books with me - I'll finally get to read it. I'm also taking Where or When and Innocence with me.
No Carrie, but would u be willing to post an opening paragragh from the book on Opening Paragragh thread, incsae we migh like to read it?
Carrie, I read Devil's Arithmetic and it was one of my favorite books. In High School I was obsessed with finding out anything and everything about the Holocaust/concentration camps as I could. I read so many books... until I convinced my mother to let me see the movie rendition the Devil's Arithmetic (emotionally, I can't handle to see things in a visual representation). I have never been able to read much of anything about the Holocaust since then. I am going to try to read Night again though. And I really would like to read Devil's Arithmetic again.
Just finished SoloTotal fluff! But I loved it!
Now on to something with a little more substance.
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: A Novel
Heard so much about this book.
I am so excited to read it!

I've listened only to a piece of the audio - it is good, read by the author. Personally, I read it. I actually wanted to look back in different parts and re-read, making the paper version easier that way.
