Stiff is great...but as I just started and finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, I have to say it is kind of an odd combination. I loved both despite their differences. I hope you enjoy them.

I am trying really hard to read more than one book at a time but I just never can decide whihc one to read first or second...or whatever!!!!
Yup, Burning through those HP books. What's that saying, 'a book a day keeps the doctor away'. (Makes more sense to me than an apple...)So far I like both the books and the movies equally. But I am only on book 3, so that may change.
Hi Everyone,Im still trying to figure out how to use this site. Im reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" with my daughter who is in high school. Not as bad as I thought it would be. My thought is that if teachers want kids to love reading they should give them more interesting books to capture their attention and foster their love of reading. I always dreaded what my teachers picked for us to read. Boring! I am also reading True Believer by Nicholas Sparks. If any of you like learning about the "paranormal" this is right up that alley. It was an attention grabber from the first few pages. Im not done with it yet but so far Im enjoying it. Have a great day everyone.
I'm reading "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. I have to admit I wasn't sure I was really going to be able to finish this book when I first picked it up. Now I can't seem to put it down! I read "Riding Lessons" and "Flying Changes" by Sara Gruen before and adored her style of writing so of course "Water for Elephants" is going to get a great review from me!
Amber. Are Riding Lessons and Flying Changes about horses?
Did you really like them?
I LOVED Water for Elephants!
I gave up on Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I am about to read Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I have heard very good things about this book. I can't wait to get started.
Hi Donna,Im new to Goodreads and still learning how to post comments and navigate my way around. Im not familiar with the Sookie series. Can you give me more information so I can check it out? Thanks Kelly
Kelly, click on this link to find out more about the book:
Dead Until Dark
Operandi, why did you give up on Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close????

i finished The Ex-Debutante tonight. total fluff, but i needed something light and breezy! i also picked up The Long Walk Down (or Home, can't remember which it is) and Toni Morrison's new one at the library, so I should have something to keep me busy for a few days.
Lori,I gave up on EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE, because it was extremely confusing to me. The characters and the plot did nothing for me. I just couldn't get into it.
Also, I am changing my next book. I will now be reading A WRINKLE IN TIME.
Randi
Am sad to hear that. Just finished EC&IL and loved it very much. I'm just reading excerpts from Women's Humor, The Penguin Book of and wondering about the editor's selection choices. >(
I woke up early this morning and finished "Water for Elephants" and was very happy with the ending. You don't get to read many books with the setting of a traveling circus during the depression. Anyway, for my next read I decided to pull one out of my TBR stack, so I'm starting "Dissolution" by C.J. Sansom.
Stephanie, What did you think of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas? I listened to it on audio and thought it quite good.
Amber, I lost my father-in-law earlier this year, but Water For Elephants reminded me of him in his last year of life. I, too, like Sara Gruen's style and was very impressed with her in her interview online at Border's Book Club.
What a story. Just finished The Business of Dying - Simon Kernick. Will now read Where There's Smoke - Simon Beckett.
I am currently reading Robert McCammon's Boy's Life. I had a friend recommend this several years ago and confused it with another book. I am halfway through it and loving it. This man has a way of writing that makes me feel like I am re-visiting my childhood. Even though I have not finished it, I am highly recommending it.
Lori, are you reading the Sookie Stackhouse series? I just finished them and absolutely loved them! I resisted them for a while, not usually liking vampire stuff, but I really enjoyed those. Also, I heard there is another one coming out next year!
Kelly, I haven't read it yet and I just brought it. But always trust Lori since so far I have liked all that she recommeneded.
My first comment from Dublin!!!I saw the posts about the bunnies baby eating...also cats do that with the weaker kittens.
I wish I had a job already: I saw extremly loud and incredible close for ten euros! It was blinking to me but I am not allowed yet!
Not yet Fiona, didn't have time yet but now already two second hand bookshops and three normal ones. And I found out that the italian girl inthe house adores books too!!!!! :-)
I've been thinking about you too Jeane, glad to hear you made it. I gather you like it so far?(You might wanna rent PS I Love You DVD, you might enjoy it, esp. the Ireland parts! Great little romantic comedy.)
GEMMA?? REALLY? THE HOBBIT?? What do you think so far??
SO excited!
Fiona's reading Guernsey and now GEmma's reading Hobbit!
:DI like it, it's pretty interesting...but I'm only like 20 pages in.
I think I might want to read the Similarion after it.
Haha.Fiona,
Since I'm not doing the exchange, I think you need to give me a present and I'll give you one too.
I read ALL of HP, you read The Gemma Doyle Trilogy. :)
Thanks everybody, trying to catch up the posts....Laura I adored the movie of PS I love you! The parts in Ireland were so nice. for now it is going okay but I am exhausted since arriving. we mainly cleaned and bought necessary stuff. And haven't read yet. need to find a job....
:) Hold on,
I'll read ANY BOOK, ANYONE wants me to read,
IF THEY WILL READ THE GEMMA DOYLE TRILOGY.
Limited time offer, lasts until January. :D
Deal! I have book 1 & 2 of the trilogy waiting for me at home.hmmmm let me think what you can read....
YAY JACKIE AND FIONA!!Hehehe, yes Jeane.
Wait till my birthday, then I'm getting you all to read ANOTHER series. :D
(G)emma - I'd recommend The Lord of the Rings and then The Simarillion, which is not as reader-friendly as the other two.
Ah ok, that would make sense then. Here it's completely free, even if the library has to borrow it from another library to get it to you.
