Angela, I think I will borrow a book from you and start A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN. i hope you don't mind.lol

I'm not too far in East of Eden. I do love Steinbeck.

I wanted to thank you for the informatin on the Berg books above.
I am a HUGE Berg fan. I love her writing. She always has some memorable thoughts in each of her books.
I have read Durable Goods and liked it.
I have Joy School and True to Form is on my wishlist.
Maybe I will push Joy School towards the top of the mountain....

Are you a speed reader?
You whiz throught these books. I don't know how you do it! When do you read?
Emilee, have you read Steinbeck before?
I am planning on reading E of E this month. Never read a Steinbeck before.
I am a bit apprehensive....The book is thick

I've wondered about Ann too, and well many of you others as well. You've really inspired me to read more and faster, which is great!

I read whenever I can. I am a stay-at-home mom and whenever there is a quiet moment, I read. Also, I have fibromyalgy (sp?) and sometimes, I just have to lay in bed, and rest. and since I don't want to waste time, I read.
I am loving EOE!!! I am so thankful for whoever picked it for this months book read.
I can't help it if you people keep recommending books that I need to read!! But please don't stop!!lol

I would love to just sit here and read until I have to make dinner.
However, I have to catch up from the time away.
Doing laundry, picking up the house, cleaning hummingbird feeders, clipping and bathing my dog.
I made a list, trying to follow it.
I'll get to read later after the kids are asleep

I am really enjoying it for the moment.
Laura, I loved your first quote! That would already make me pick up the book, even if the title doesn't attract me and I don't know what the book is about!

La centea dei ruotanti by Franco Bonprezzi.
The story is about a village or city made for people in weelchaires. There only live people in weelchaires and everything is made to function for them: everything low, without steps..... One day people who aren't in a weelchair come to the palce and start living there too. But of course everything is made on hight, function and so on for people in a weelchair.
For me it sounds a very original story and very ineresting to see it from the other way.

I love friends like that! I wish I had more friends like that who would not only recommend a book but also give me a copy! Lucky!

So what are you reading at the moment? :-)

Mine is a few posts up (message5636)...I'm reading A Wolf at the Table by Augusten Burroughs. :-) I actually have several started but that is the one I am focusing on at the moment...unless we want to count my clinical psychology textbook. :-/
PS. I love your name! Anya is my favorite character from Buffy the Vampire Slayer! LOL!!

Oops, I didn't see your post there! My mistake. :-) I wasn't paying attention I guess. lol
A Wolf at the Table you say? Is it any good? I can always use new book recommendations. :-)
LOL! Believe it or not, but whenever I talk with someone outside of my country, that is the usual reaction I get when I tell people my name! Eeeeeverybody loves Anya the Demon on Buffy! I have never watched the show myself so I can only wonder if her name is pronounced the way mine is.

A Wolf at the Table is good so far...it's not Running with Scissors but is about Augusten's father. Augusten Burroughs has had an extremely rough life and it's crazy to read about the poisonous people he had to deal with.
And for some reason (I just realized) I seem to be going through a non-fiction phase right now...hmmmm....

I think I am going to add Augusten Burroughs to my "To Check out on Amazon" list. His work sounds interesting. :-)
A non-fiction phase? Intriguing... The last non-fiction book I read was about horse riding. Uh yeah, I don't read that many non-fiction books. :P

LMAO!!!! That is awesome! I guess that rules out ever owning a bunny! I guess Anya from Buffy must have known your pet rabbit!!
Unfortunately, I have never read Watership Down...

Have you read it Fiona?

For some reason I just finished the Lynne Spears memoir and now I'm reading an Augusten Burroughs memoir and just ordered Kitchen Confidential and Eat, Pray, Love...both memoirs/non-fiction. Weird...I hadn't even noticed it until now...

I'm trying to figure out a curse word that is p and 2 letters. I don't get it. That is a puzzle. Is it a British curse word??

I'm reading Love in the Time of Cholera right now. I'm not that crazy about it. I don't really like any of the characters, so it's hard to keep reading.

Well...I guess if you are doped up on morphine anything can happen!
I have heard wonderful things about Love in the Time of Cholera! It's on my TBR list...That's too bad you aren't enjoying it...
I finished EoE last week and loved loved loved it, tho the ending seemed a little rushed for me.
Andrew, I have Robinsons Crusoe...let me know how it is once you get into it.

I'm startibg to hurry... I want to reach 100 books read this year and times is starting to run out... Ive read 81 so far have to reach 87 buy the end of the month. its getting on my nerves and I'm spoling the fun of reading, but I cant stop now... so close
