What are you reading?
Seriously, this thread just keeps getting longer and longer. I'm gone for a day and a half and it takes me an hour just to get through one thread..._______________________
I'm still reading the science book, but I'll be done with it in time for book club tomorrow. Last night I needed a small break from it so I started A Great and Terrible Beauty. (plugs ears from (G)Emma squealing)
I'm also finising Breaking Dawn on audio. I read the books when they first came out but am enjoying a second go round with audio on each. Once I finish this last Stephenie Meyer audio book then I'll start Harry Potter on audio - again I've read the books but want to enjoy them again and audio is just so convenient without breaking into my "reading" time. :-)
Still plowing my way through Three Musketeers.I've read Around the World in Eighty Days, but it's been a long time. The 1950's movie can be fun, too.
I am finishing up the Fablehave series today. I'm reading the 3rd one Grip of the Shadow Plague. It is YA fantasy. I love the series so far.I also go East of Eden and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close from the library today. I'm not sure which I will tackle first.
Catherine I loved the Historian and I didn't finish NEtherland maybe cause it hits too close to home but many said they loved it. Enjoy!!!
I finished Around the World in 80 Days today and it was even better than I remembered from my childhood. Just the task Phileas Fogg faces and the obstacles that pop up would make for a fabulous story, but the element of a cat-and-mouse chase really puts this book over the top! I highly recommend it for anyone who loves grand adventure stories. I can see why Jules Verne is touted as one of the finest French authors. He is deserving of all accolades!
Next, I'll be starting my nomination for the group read: East of Eden
i'm STILL on Company of Liars. however, i've broken the 200 page mark, so maybe i'll pick up the pace now. i have to pick up Loving Frank for the library book club, the discussion is next monday.
*sigh* so much to read, and darn work gets in the way...
Maria, good luck with Company of Liars. I gave up a little after page 400. I've set it aside hoping I'll be able to go back at one point and finish it. It was good, but seemed to be dragging on forever.
Finished Cross Country by James Patterson on the weekend, at the moment reading Lonely Planet Bali & Lombok to do some research before our holiday. Hoping to start Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch on the weekend.
Finally decided to spend the bucks and get myself a copy of From Hell by Moore/Campbell so I'm reading that and also just grabbed a copy of McCarthy's The Orchard Keeper. Both are stunning so far. So much for getting out of one's comfort zone.
Great, Carrie, I can't wait!Ooh, I've got a free copy of The Lace Reader coming to me in the mail at the moment, will be watching to see what you think of it, Melanie.
Yay Kim!That is one of my favorite books of all time.
Something about his writing captured me.
Loved that book!
Jackie - I finished Breaking Dawn yesterday and thought I should mention that I actually started to appreciate it a lot more as I passed the halfway point of the book. It definitely answered most of the questions that I had, although parts of the book were a bit uncomfortable. Ultimately, I'm glad I didn't skip this book.
Oh Atishay, I can't remember when my thirth try started, but I am still busy with it. This time I promised myself I will finish it. But I am reading it through Dailylit(which I started just to see how it was) and it doesn't give much extra encouragement to read more.
I'm 3/4 of the way through A Clockwork Orange and hoping to finish today. I should start East of Eden next but I may try to read Love is a Mix Tape first as it will be due back to the libary soon.
Jamie, thanks for letting me know. I just received another coupon from Borders, so I may pick it up this weekend.
I'm still reading "Isolation Ward" Joshua Spanogle. This is a first effort by the author and he has room for improvement but the plot is good.
I started ANIMAL FARM last night. And am surprised that I am liking it. Then, in the bus line, I started TWILIGHT. Good so far.
i just finished East of Eden. Absolutely wonderful. Now, I can't decide what to read. Well, to be honest I'm not ready to start another book because I just want to think about EoE. It's been a long time since a book has done this to me. It's a good feeling!
It was hard for me to pick what to read after finishing the Twilight series yesterday, since it was so addicting. I've decided to read the play Arcadia by Tom Stoppard, though, since I expect AGATB to arrive at my library for me tomorrow or Thursday. Arcadia is short and will help me with the Fall Challenge.
I am just finishing Last Christmas by Kate Brian (30 pages left) and then I will be starting The Luxe by Anna Godberen. I love the Kate Brian Private series!!
I finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close last night and I loved it. Now it's time to pick up Hidden Power again after a month's hiatus.
I just finished Blood Orange by Drusilla Campbell, which was a fast, good read. I am not sure if I am going to pick up EL&IC or another book that I can use for the Fall Challenge. Choices, Choices...
Okay, I did just start a book that has the word November in it for the challenge (November of the Soul, which is deep reading)and I am about 40 pages in so far... I like it, but it is 561 pages, so I think I may have to pick up EL&IC first. Thanks for the encouragement Jamie, Fiona, and Ann!!
I just finished a book that is going to go towards the top of my best ever list. This book was very well written..Fascinating..
Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum
It's about the Holocaust from the point of view of a German woman who lived in a small German town during the war. The author switches back and forth between the present and wartime. This book is actually a bookclub pick from one of my clubs. So glad I read this.
It was incredibly good...
Now I'm on to something a bit lighter. Hissy Fit: A Novel by Mary Kay Andrews.
We are going out of town for a few days so I wanted to start something a little bit lighter on the brain power. Going to hold off on East of Eden until I get back.
Just finished The Wind Done Gone...so now I've read all the GWTW books (the original, Scarlet, Rhett Butler's People, and TWDG) - YEAH! The original is still the best but they we're all interesting in their own way. I think I liked this one the least of all of them though. Now I'm going to read The Second Coming of Lucy Hatch: A Novel by Marsha Moyer.
Finished The Lace Reader which I really liked - it got me out of my reading slump!Still reading The Last Summer of Reason and will probably start Lamb by Christoper Moore next.

I'm now starting How to be Good. I have East of Eden and Extremely Close in the wings waiting to be read, but first things first.
