I finished Dracula last night. I enjoyed it much more than I expected. Much better than Frankenstein which I read in October. Now I'm reading A Creed for the Third Millenium by Colleen McCullough. It seems good so far. I loved her series about Julius Cesear, so am working my way through her other books.
LOL...(G)Emma I was only j/k....BUT you really should read it especially since you got soooo many of us reading AGATB. Plus I think you will really enjoy it since you seem to prefer YA.
Emma, I hadn't read them either and jsut didn't care about them. But about a year and a half ago I was thinking, what is all the fuss about. let's check out...and I liked them and read two or three of them. They aren't bad.
:) Fair enough.
Does that mean if I read the ENTIRE series ALL of you have to read the ENTIRE Gemma Doyle Trilogy?
Because I can do that.
READ. READ.
READ.
Alright then. DONE!
But it might be awhile before I read the entire series.
But I will. As long as you guys read the entire series.
OMG Gemma, I think Fiona has you on this one. I thought the whole TH and LotR was bad, but HP too? HP too Gemma?<<<>>>
She does.She does.
I WILL DO IT.
But you all have to read TGDT too.
:D I love making deals. DONE DONE AND DONE.
I finished I Capture the Castle! It was terrific.Now...EXTREMELY LOUD or EDGAR SAWTELLE? THAT is the question.
Thatlooks like a great picture!!! if now I would know how you all look, it would be really realistic..I had a kind of western saloon image in my head...
LOL Jeane! No HP, but I will add that book into my to-reads.
Yes yes, I will read HP.
You guys, PLUS my YA for Obama friends will be reminding me until I do. All of you make a great team. :P
OK Fiona. My, that was quick! Has anyone ever read Barbara Pym? Someone is comparing her Excellent Women to The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which may remain in my Top 5 all time list forever.
I understand Emma, I put off reading Harry Potter forever (just read them all this year actually). I was just never interested and really didn't understand what all the hype was about. Let me tell you, though, I LOVED that series. It was really cool to be able to read them all back to back since they were all out. After I finished the last book, I literally could not read anything else for about 3 weeks because I wasn't over it.
Wow Christy! Thanks for the advice!OMG ROMOLA GARAI!
I actually haven't seen her act, but she is my perfect-
Hold on, I'm not telling you until you read The Gemma Doyle Trilogy.
Fiona, fangirling is fine. I do it all the time! :POh, I've seen her in Gemma Doyle youtube fan videos, and she FANTASTIC. I really need to see Atonement. And I kind of want to watch Daniel Deronda (most of the clips from her work in the youtube videos are from that miniseries).
OK, not that we're really all talking together. BUT we are all here at the same time - Italy, Canada, England and USA!WOOT!
:D I LOVE the internet.
I would've never been able to meet all you awesome, fantastic and amazingly cool people without it.
I am currently reading The Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall. I am nearing the end so I should probably start scouring my shelves for a new (and still unread) book. :-) Since the weekend promises to be rather grey and windy, I think I am going to go with some sappy romance thing. ;-)And BTW... Hellooooo everyone! :-D
yes we are all together at the same time and I am going to bed now, so no more psots!! :-9Fiona, shut up! :-)
That's why you ahve to shut up!!! Iam yawning constantly adn the computer or internet actually is soooo slow.... bedie come here. And do you notice what and how I am writing??? i called you Giona!
Thanks for the compliment Fiona! :-D You can add another corner to that world of yours. I am from Belgium. :-)Jackie, I can certainly recommend The Russian Concubine. Furnivall's writing style is one of a kind. It is quite detailed, really paints pictures in your head. The plot is a bit surreal, but eh... *shrugs* Sometimes you just need to read about an impossible romance.
I just started reading Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson. Has anyone read it? What's your opinion? It is starting out a bit differently than I thought.
Fiona, I am wearing lenses and tey kind of get dry towards midnight and while sitting in front of the computer.... I can't believe you are able to keep me here!!!!!!Anya...I am from belgium too,e ven if I am staying in my lovely, beautiful, lovely, wonderful, great Italy.....
stay awake stay awake...Fiona, can I wake you up at 8.25 tomorrow morning, I will ahve so much energy then!!!!
It took me quite a while to start reading TRC. I picked up a copy when I was in Rome earlier this year, but didn't feel like *cracking the spine* until five days ago. Have had trouble putting the book down ever since! There is just something about reading sappy romances when work sucks and the weather doesn't cooperate. :-)Jeane is from Belgium too?? Cool! And she is in Italy now! Ah, I so envy her!!
(Gunpointing time). Please please please stay up Jeane.
We want to talk to you!
We want you to read the next chapter of our story because we're BAD BAD spammers!
Lisa: I love Dracula and Frankenstein, but I think since I've read the latter for class a few times, I've gotten more out of it than Dracula. I really should re-read it now that I'm older (I think I read it at 12).
Catherine/ Valerie....
Motherless Brooklyn was a great read! Logan (if he were hear) would totally back me up on this one! I want to read more by this author, just havent found any of his books in the stores yet.... Totally worth picking up!
