~Geektastic~ (atroskity) So, Kindle cases are ridiculously expensive ($40, seriously?) so I've decided to make my own; I'm handy with a needle. Has anyone else attempted this? There's a ton of really cool ideas on this site/blog that I found (below), although I think I'm going to come up with my own design. I love a good craft project! I'm thinking of making a Doctor Who themed case...

Cool. I've run into a few more reasonably priced ones, but they're just not "right." I think I'm probably being pickier than I should be.

Coqueline I't's great if you can make your own. I order mine from a crafty person at Etsy and loving it, so much more choices too.

Patricia (pg4003) | 45 comments Amber, there are lots of patterns on the internet to make Kindle cases. Are you talking about a book style case? This seller on Etsy has some patterns, I've made several of hers. http://www.etsy.com/search_results.ph...

I have made many, many bags and cases for Kindles, Nooks, iPads, whatever. I've made a few book style covers, but personally I don't care for the fabric style covers, they aren't substantial enough for me. It's fun to make your own, but take a look at Ebay, you can find some neat little covers for less than $20. I love covers, I have several covers for my Kindle, some very expensive, some not. I bought one from Ebay for $12.99 shipped to me and it's one of my favorites.

Thanks so much for the info! I am thinking about making a book-style case. I've been keeping my Kindle in a small zippered cloth bag, but it's too big and has embellishments on it that can't take the abuse I've been putting it through. I definitely want something that I can keep the Kindle in while reading, and I like the idea of making one so it's an original. I'll definitely look into the patterns, I'm a little lost on the best way to go about my plans.

Batsap | 117 comments Thanks for the link, some of those cases are so cool! I've been thinking about knitting a case for my Kindle, but I really like the idea of putting it inside a book now! Best of both worlds.

Clara | 27 comments I carry my nook in a cosmetic bag. It is just as safe...

Commit Purple Prose I've got the Minimal Trifold in night now. The online reviews aren't that great, but I picked mine up in store and got to handle it before I bought it. It's got a soft, suede-y feel that's yummy. :)

Destiny (ladestinytwilliams) | 39 comments I bought my Nook case for $9.99 from BN.com. It's pretty standard, but it keeps it safe. But now that I'm using my sewing machine again, I may just attempt to make a colorful one haha.

Moon | 37 comments My e-reader came with its own case. But it would be nice to have one with an interesting theme.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Mine came with a black soft padded cover it slips into. I've thought about making another cover, but havn't bothered yet.

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I did that too! I spend weeks searching the net and all my local stores and I couldn't anything I liked that didn't cost less than €60+. So I brought a plain cheap case for €6 that was covered with canvas material. I picked out some cute & pretty material and got some fabric glue, buttons, etc, and made my own case.

Thank you! And making your own case is really fun!

Ellen (elliearcher) I always love the examples of cases you can make & I'd love to try it. But it seems like getting all the stuff I'd need to make it would cost almost as much as a fancy case.

Not being much of a do-it-yourself-person to begin with.
