Hi back. Yes I've found the indie publishing world to be overcrowded, full of contradictory recommendations, and numerous attempts to grab a buck or two from questionable even if well intentioned groups of persons, who can do little to promote a book(s). A money sink. This field seems oversaturated, destroyed, and the only way to earn a living is an author is to already be a famous personality, or someone who has previously built a large following, and in either case disributed by one of the 4 major publishing houses.
Wish I were wrong.

Hi, I'm Jeremy from Malta.I write poetry daily on my blog as well as editing my second poetry collection! I would love to have reviews on that while I put it for pre-order :)
I'm Carol Bodensteiner. I draw writing inspiration from the people, places, culture and history of the Midwest United States. As a result, I break the 'rules' by publishing across multiple genres. I've published a memoir - Growing Up Country, Memories of an Iowa Farm Girl, and an historical novel - Go Away Home. I'm gearing up to publish a contemporary novel - Simple Truth - in the next couple of months.
Learn more about me at: www.carolbodensteiner.com
Hope to get to know many of you.
Hi Jeremy and Carol(s), It's great to read your self-introduction in the new year! I'm Renee Marchol. 3 fun facts about me? 1. I am a fan of waffles. Ever since a friend in Los Angeles introduced me to the yeast-dough kind that is chewy-crisp and studded with shards of pearl sugar crunch I've upped my game from eating toaster Eggos.
2. I uplift and support other writers in person, on stage and online. How do I do this? I go out of my way to meet fellow authors each season and if it's a good fit I introduce them to acquaintances who are looking for a guest on their podcast, storytelling stage or blog. I am particularly fond of those who brave memoirs and funny how-tos.
3. I write practical how-to audiobooks with a conversational, inviting tone as if the reader has made a new friend who is dishing useful tricks of the trade over a beer.
Pull up a freshly-toasted waffle and find your next audiobook here: https://teachingartistrene.wixsite.co...
Looking forward to getting to know more of the group!
Cheers, Renee
Carol wrote: "Hi, Carol - good to see you here!"Hi Carol Ervin, I just visited the podcast episode from 2015 where you speak about your historical fiction success.
May I ask your thoughts on how/if you connect with vintage lifestyle following young adults and retro music video filmmakers? I ask because I am curious how often you are approached as a guest expert for eras since you create historical fiction. While I lived in Seattle there are many men who dig deep in "retro" and women who go all out in learning "vintage".

Hello all,My name is Jim and I was born in 1969. I live in Chelan, Washington. Pizza and golf are delightful! For all intents and purposes I've been off Goodreads for about the last four years. During that time I was writing a science fiction trilogy. The third and final book was just published this last weekend. I didn't read any books during that time as I didn't want to be influenced by other authors. The next book I read will be The Martian by Andy Weir who also was kind enough to chat with me briefly on Facebook. If anyone has any fantastic marketing ideas please let me know! Happy reading

Hi everyone,Excited to meet and discuss the trials of independent book publishing with other authors.
My first novel, ART FARM, was released this past March. Here is some further info if you'd like to check it out: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
It is a dark comedy, with hints of horror/thriller aspects, but not what many would consider "genre" fiction. This has made it a bit hard to market and to find circles in which to promote it. So along with my intro, I am curious if any of you have run into the same situation or if you might have any tips or insight regarding this. I have tried posting on social media and getting my book into some local bookstores, but now am at a bit of a loss about how to get my novel out there into the world.
Thanks in advance, and looking forward to chatting with you!
Best,
Marc
Hello! I'm Tom Dell'Aringa, science fiction author. I have a couple short stories out - Stinger: Can you face your ultimate fear? and Lonely Ones. I'm just looking to hang out and connect with other authors. I am currently prepping my first novel for self publication. I had landed an agent back in April of 2019, but ultimately she was not able to sell the book (there was a digital publishing house, which I decided to pass on).
Glad to be here. If you have any sci-fi short stories like mine, I'd be happy to co-promote!
My name is Justin, and I've just released my first book in a series of YA fantasy. I am actually a full-time veterinarian when I'm not writing and my first book has taken years to complete. Now that it's out, I'm realizing I have no idea how to build my reader base. Looking for advise from anyone that can help new authors get their base going.
Hello! IBC community! I'm a indie author and just published my debut novel, Target Pool. It's a technothriller about the dark side of advertising.
After tap-slogging away on the second installment of my sci-fi series, I've suddenly run out of puff. Its a Brain Drain down the Plug and my energy with it. What was left I rediscovered PlayStation. I still got the PS1 console and 18 games. Though I ought to be editing, doing some research as I've done for a while but my Brain says NO. Enough. Entertain me. So I do. Luckily I don't have a TV plugged into anything. Maybe next week ha ha. Anyone else get this happening?
