Thanks for the welcome Xavier! When I (eventually) get a day off, I shall spend some time discovering you all. Nice to meet you!

Hi. I'm Maggie Thom author of Captured Lies. I live in Alberta Canada. We are very cold and white right now - you can feel sorry for me. Great weather for writing - suspense/murder/mystery/romance - all rolled into one. Nice to meet the rest of you. :) Merry Christmas.

So I guess you are probably enjoying this winter as much as I am. Are you north or south?
Thank you Steven.

Christoph, Welcome! I really like your book cover and web site.
Well done! I wish you all the best with your book.

Hello Cari. It's great that you have such broad enjoyment across many types of books! Hope you can find some new stories to read from some of the authors in this group.
Happy reading!

My name is Rick Gualtieri. I've been self-publishing for about two years. I have 7 books available (with an 8th on the way :) in the following genres: horror, comedy, and contemporary fantasy. I've been on GR for a while now, but am just starting to branch myself out a bit in terms of the groups I'm a member of. Just wanted to pop in and say hello.

My name is Sara Burr and I just published my first novel with Amazon.com entitled Enigma Black. It's the first novel in a planned science fiction/dystopian/romance trilogy and I had loads of fun writing it. On top of writing, I also enjoy reading (especially Indie authors), blogging, shopping, and meeting fellow authors/readers.

Welcome to the group. Finding your way around can be problematical. I've been active for a couple of months and still struggle. But the struggle has its pleasures.
I still haven't figured out about plugging my book in the right not the wrong places. Generally, each of the groups has a discussion thread just for advertising it and you can add a link for purchasing.
I think you can talk about your work in many of the discussions if it's germane to the conversation. Like, 'researching for my book about Dark Age Briton I found little real information...' or 'does anyone know good sources for a book I'm writing on...?' Not like, 'well if you get my book on Briton you'll really enjoy all the research about... Get it at...'
Others will know more about it than me. (I don't yet have a book on that subject, by the way.)

I've found that carefully following the posted rules for each group and making promotional posts where clearly allowed has resulted in no backlash. It helps to browse a particular group to get a feel for that group's culture and see what other authors have posted. Goodreads also has a Giveaway page (highly recommended) and a paid-advertising option (not so sure about this one).

I'm Terry Irving and I've been a TV producer for four decades and, yes, television is dreadful literature. So I'm writing several books more or less at once. "Courier" a motorcycle death race in the 1970s should be up on Amazon this month and The Unemployed Guy's Guide to Unemployment will follow soon after.
I'm just learning the social media aspect of all this (I have three blogs up and www.terryirving.com should be up this week) and am willing to help any author in need of a push (or even an edit or rewrite).

My name is Walter Spence. My first publication credit was as a collaboration with fantasy author and Compton Crook Award winner Holly Lisle titled The Devil and Dan Cooley, book two of the Devil's Point series, originally published by Baen Books.
In June of 2012, I self-published my first solo novel, a paranormal/urban fantasy novel called House of Shadows, the first in a series I have titled 'The Breed Wars'. Currently I am working on book two, The Secret Room.
Occasionally I also write blog posts sharing what I have learned while climbing the self-publishing learning curve. The blog is located at http://sloggingtowardsbethlehem.blogs....
Looking forward to sharing with and learning from all of you folks herein. :)

Cheers!

I'm in process of self-pubbing my first novel. It's currently with my editor. I wrire paranormal romance and this is the first book in the series. Well, I've played long enough today so back to work on book 2. Look forward to connecting with everyone!

Congratulations Alaina. Yay. It's exciting to be published isn't it. Way to go.

Erren -- I have a book about telepaths too. I'll check yours out :) -- Sherrie
