It's literary fiction—on the dark side—and I could use all the help I can get with promotion. Will be happy to reciprocate. On amazon the book can be found at http://www.amazon.com/Too-Bright-Hear....
I'm on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/juliann.garey

Kim Donovan | 17 comments Hello everyone
I'm the author of a series for 7 + children called St Viper's School for Super Villains. Here's the book blurb:

Demon wants to be the best super villain at St Viper’s but he’s in for a fight. Between masterclasses in World Domination, Sinister Science and Fighting with Flames, he needs to prove to everyone he’s an evil genius. Now, if he can just survive till the end of term . . .

St Viper's is Electrik Inc's first publication - we're a collective of children's writers in the UK who are pooling our skills and experience to independently publish our own books to a professional standard. Do take a look at our blogsite if you have time.

St Viper's has had some wonderful reviews on goodreads - I am VERY grateful (especially for the reviews by children). Thanks so much for letting me join the Indie group. I will help in any way i can.

With best wishes
Kim

Richard Blinn | 3 comments I am new to all this too and it all seems a little overwhelming and complex. I live in Victoria, B.C., Canada.
In my new book 'People Of The Womb' I recreate the experience of life of an infant in its mother's womb based on my own memory of that time. To the best of my knowledge this is the only such book written by someone who remembers the experience. The book also recreates how we gradually evolve into our adult lives and the ongoing interrelationship between the pre and postnatal experiences of life.

J.G. Parker (JGParker) | 7 comments Hi, I'm JG I live in the English midlands - yes, everything you've heard about the weather is true! I've written and published poetry for many years but have gone back to my reading roots and published a science fantasy novel with a lovely new independent UK publisher, Stonewood Press.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know the group and hope I can add something (intelligent) to it.

Steven Malone | 102 comments Hi Xan,

Welcome to the group. I have empathy for you. I juggle the Kindle account, trying to get a mss ready for Create Space POD, beginning work on my dashboard as a Goodreads author, and a website/blog. Along with keeping my wife happy with the chores. I'm afraid I've gotten behind on my blog but ideas are spinning in the back of my brain.

I share your excitement over each new sale.

I like being in this group - you should too. Good luck to you.

Hi Drsue,

Welcome to the group. Wow, Thoreau reminds me of my youth. I loved him but it's been awhile since I returned to his work.

Hi Delancey,

Welcome. I have a son, now grown. I do not know how people do more than one. He is a good trouble-free kid and I often remind him that he is the best thing that I have ever done. However, I had the honor to be a stay at home Dad and I remember the work is was to raise him - and my wife came home at night when she wasn't traveling on business.

M.E. | 6 comments Hi. I'm Mary Sutton. I recently released my first book, a middle-grade fantasy called POWER PLAY: HERO'S SWORD VOLUME 1 through Delabarre Publishing. I stumbled upon this group because I was looking for good sources for indie book reviews for this age/genre, and found a whole thread on middle-grade ebooks (which of course I now can't find).

Does anyone know of any good sources for indie book reviews? The few that I found through The Indie Review aren't accepting submissions until 1 January and my book is already out.

Thanks.

message 824: by Lu (new)

Lu (luul) Hello Everyone

My name is Lee, but I write under the pen name L.M. Steel.
Well I say pen name, next year after my civil union it will be my name, I'm just pre-empting.

I am very new to this, although I've been writing for as long as I can really remember, I always tried holding out for the publisher or agent to accept my MS. Now I'm taking the steps myself.

I'm from a little town called Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire, England. It is the setting for both of my stories that are out at the moment: Judged By Your Peers which is a bit 'chick lit' I guess and then my latest one Once Upon A Set Of Wheels.
It's actually a two part story which I wrote seven years ago and when I received multiple rejections I kind of lost heart. Now I've come back to it, edited it slightly and gone through the self publishing.
I say it's a crime story, but it's a bit of a complicated one. It's written as an autobiography (fictional I hasten to add) of a serial killer, but a different kind of killer, as she first starts when she is just a little girl. You can see more if you like on my website www.lmsteel.co.uk

My next project is a kind of parallel tale to Once Upon A Set Of Wheels about a family going through their own criminal development at the same time. However before that I am trying to finish a short, comedy piece which is actually a true story that is just too hilarious not to tell.

Not sure what else to tell you really, I guess writing crime comes from the same inspiration as my chosen profession (I'm a forensic analyst) Although I have succumbed to the corporate world rather than the justice one (There is a recession on and they were the only ones with a job.)

I've never joined an internet group or anything like that before, other than facebook, so this all new to me and don't really know what to do next in regards to the discussions, so any suggestions would greatly appreciated.
Thanks and nice to meet you all.

Christopher Pearce | 4 comments Hello, my name is Chris and I am a new author, I recently published my first novel Civilization Earth A New Beginning as an ebook on amazon.com and smashwords.com.

I am looking for honest reviews of my work before publishing it in print and have marked down the price to only $2.99 in the hopes that I will be able to get more feedback.

If you are interest in science fiction or historical fiction, give it a look and let me know how you like it.

Ruby Blessing (rubyblessing) | 1 comments Hello, I'm Ruby Blessing,

I'm a writer, designer and futurist. After spending many years as a digital strategist (seriously!) I decided to write a book for my youngest son, who was 10 at the time. In my work in the digital world, a project can be turned around in weeks, making the length of time it took to write my first book a bit surprising! The book was finally released in November - Crispin Scales and the Golden Pearl

I look forward to hearing other writers' stories and challenges. I can also offer advice in areas 'digital' (setting up your website, facebook etc) for those starting out. What may seem like an internet Everest to you is pretty easy for me and I am happy to assist : )

My name is Mike Cairns. I'm an author, musician and teacher. I've completed the first draft of my first two novels and am now mid-edit, hoping to get the first one out in the middle of 2013. Accompanying me on my journey is my wonderful wife/proofreader/publisher Elizabeth and my daughter, henceforth known as the small one. I love books of all genres but have a particular penchant for fantasy and comics.
I'm looking forward to meeting like minds and getting the chance to chat about all things book based.

Jack Jr. | 3 comments Welcome to all of the new followers of this thread!

As far as it goes, there is no better place to advertise than the Indie Book Collective. Try your damnedest to get involved with the #freeParTay promotions that they run... Do EVERYTHING they tell you to do and keep at it.

What they taught us to do has made us a #1 best seller on Amazon and the sky is the limit. We owe everything to them and what they teach. If you can do what they preach, you can do it, too!

Still looking through some of the posts. Any advice on what to do next is welcome.
