Lbaker | 12 comments My Grandfather told me about reading a book written in the point of view of George Custer's horse during the battle of little big horn. It is at least 10 years old.

This is an adult book, I'm sorry, I don't know anymore about it, but would like to read it.

Hum, I don't remember one about Custer's Horse. But there was one about Ben Franklin and a Mouse (Ben and Me: An Astonishing Life of Benjamin Franklin by His Good Mouse Amos) and about the horse of Paul Revere (Mr Revere and I ) so possibly Robert Lawson or someone inspired by him wrote one about Custer. I haven't thought about those books in YEARS. Think its time I checked the bookshelf of kids books and see if I still own either. :o)

M— | 379 comments There's the book Comanche: Story of America's Most Heroic Horse (no GR page; Amazon page), a story about the Battle of Little Bighorn told from the perspective of a horse, but that horse was owned by one of Custer's captains, not Custer himself. The copy I own was published in the 1950s, and I don't think it's been reprinted.

The book was fictionalized, but Comanche was a factual horse:

And just in case you or your grandfather would be interested, there's another war story told from the perspective of a horse, Traveller, Robert E. Lee's horse during the Civil War.

I don't think it's this one, as it doesn't seem like something my grandpa would have read - he like'd Louie L'Amour western type books, probably because he was a cowboy when he was young.
