Should I or should I NOT read City of Fallen Angels?
Don't read it then! In my opinion the only reason the book is getting 5 star or people are saying it's amazing or they love it is cause they're loyal to the books/author. which isn't a bad thing, but it's not really honest! Let me put it this way I am a HUGE Simon fan and even I was disappointed by the way Jace/Clary's relationship was going in this book!! the Simon parts were good and there were a lot of funny parts to the book, which i enjoyed quite a lot. however the plot line didn't live up to what I expected from Cassie's books =( the sub plot was pretty predictable too! no big surprises throughout the book, at least for me! BUT having said all that I'll still read the next two books mainly in the hopes that they'll get better & out of loyalty!So if you hate Simon, and are a huge Jace fan then this book will most definitely be a big disappointment for you, but there's a tiny chance that you might start to like Simon a bit better. However no doubt you'll end up being mad at Jace.
No offence to any one who loved the book, this was just my personal view/opinion! I'm just trying to be honest =)
The book was pretty annoying, in my opinion. It wasn't exactly bad but if you hate Simon and love Jace how he was in the first 3 books then I dunno. I really didn't like Jace in it and actually preferred Simon. Also its very predictable. Eh, I agree with @Daylighter
oh yeah that's another thing I forgot to mention, I heard that Clary & Jace's relationship was terrible and I totally agree with you @Daylighter i do think people are saying they love them just for their loyalty to C.Clare i do love her but I'm not about to read the book if it will make me think lower of her XD also another choice is I wait for the next two to come out & see people's opinions then. If the books get better then I shall read them if not then I just wont.
I was just surprised when I found she's going to continue with series after she said it ended, I think that was bad idea. Its obvious she didn't have mean to or a plot ready but once she saw how famous the books became she thought 'oh hey let me continue' ehhh, there is no reason to drag along if she doesn't have too.

i liked it but then again i ABSOLUTELY love simon, if you dont like him you probably wont like it that much but id still recommend reading it simply to stay tuned into whats happening

I wouldn't read it- I also don't like Simon and looove Jace, and now I've read the book, I kind of wish that I hadn't, because Jace is so different. Keep the image of Jace as he was in the first three books, because in the fourth he really is like a different person. :( :( waahhh i want jace to go back to normal again!!!
Totally agreeing with Punk (message 8). You know it will all get straightened out. The craziness that happens with Jace brings awesome suspense to the book. I agree it wasn't my fav of the series, but it left me extremely anxious for the next book to come out. Plus...the intertwining between the 2nd part of this series and the Clockwork Series is pretty awesome. Can't wait to see what gets blended between them in the next of each series.

hy guys,I haven't read the book completly but I'm approximatly at the middle where Clary and Jace just made out and where he actually hurt her with the knife. At first I thought he dreamed it again but then she said:"I don't understand" - and for me - I don't UNDERSTAND neither!!
what's this crap. Why is CC writing just things, now when everything could be perfect she just make up a new problem... AAAH... I'm soo pissed, I don't know if I should read further cause I guess how the story will go on...
I guess they will break up afterwards, so the both are totally devasted and heart broken (like me too) and then the will be still not together in the next book and in the last one CC will find a way again, than everything was a mistake and now they can live happily ever after in the end of the book. oh, that sucks....

Then if I read I'll get anxious for the next one and I'm not patient.
And I love Jace and I don't want to think lowly of him, so I don't know.
I liked Simon too, but especially Magnus and Alec.
But I think I'm guna wait till the next one comes out then make a decision then. :P

I could tell you what will happen to him, if you REALLY want to know it, but then I would ruin the book for you. Just give it a try and tell me your opinion than.Everything is kind of a good ending, but than CC made a big Cliffhanger at the last 2 pages... so that she has a twist in the storyline. Kind of obvious that she had to do something like that, cause otherwise it would be a little boring the next 2 books. :)

puh, thats a hard questions. Some parts about it I adored in the book and others not so much.but it was kind of obvious that CC had to find new conflicts, so it won't get boring.... but she'll find a way out and we'll be happy in the end.
so - read it, that's my advice. Ohterwise the curiousity could kill you! :)
Everybody seems 50-50 with it & kinda already know what happens. To me the book seemes to much of a follow up, like CC is trying to hard to keep writing them but hey I haven't read them yet. I'm just going to wait until the next 2 come out. I rather wait a long time until all of them are out instead reading one then waiting then reading then waiting and so on. The curiosity will kill me then hahaThe thing that will kill the books for me the most is if Jace isn't himself, I can put with simone & everything else as long as Jace isn't fucked up lol

The thing is, i WOULD read it but I don't want to go on and get frustrated if Clary and Jace's relationship is not as good as i want it to/imagine it to be.
And I also have other books that I have to read soon.
So would I but I don't know. I think I am going to read it next just to get the pressure off and just basically get it over with.

yeah, I thought the same Eden. but I heard and I know, that in the end everyhting will turn out to be alright again. I only hope that this change in Jace, don't change him permanently. Did you read The Hunger Games?Then you know what I am mean by that.
and about JCB - I don't really know him and his acting. I just saw him in Sweeny Todd. Maybe he's a good actor and maybe they two (Lily and he) have a good chemistry together.... BUT - how CC described Jace in the book - JCB don't look like him in any way!!! It's not only the missing muscle, it also his face, his eyes, his chin - all these things are not looking like Jace.... There could have fit Edward Speelers better in it, when Alex P. didn't want to play. Thats my opinion
I'll admit that it wasn't my favourite, however, I feel that it's essential to the storyline. We learn more about Simon, Isabelle gets a voice in this book, if you've read Infernal Devices then you'll be happy to hear something about Tessa in this book. You find out more about Mayrise and her relationship with her husband. You get to see Alec and Magnus as a couple and it's very entertaining. I also liked the new character, Kyle. I feel he was a great addition to these already awesome characters. We find out more about Valentine's experiments and...that's all I can say right there without spoiling anything for you.The sense of humour was really as fantastic as in the rest of the books.
Yes, there are things that frustrated me with respect to the storyline and the cliffhanger from hell had me stomping my foot till I lost feeling on it, but I feel that you should read this book. It's really not horrible like some people are making it out to be. You honestly can't expect to read 3 books of Jace and Clary doing the kissy-kissy, hump-hump and have Jace running through the daisies and singing Kumbaya. Nobody would want to read that book. It would get really boring really fast.

I HATED the ending and of course Jace wasn't sarcastic at all and he and Clary weren't in love as much in the book. It really wasn't half as good as the rest and I wouldn't be obsessed with the series if the first book was as bad as that.

When I was done with the book I did the same thing I read it before everyone else in my school and all my friends kept telling me to stop spoiling the book for them, but I couldn't stand not talking about it

and Edwar Speeler is the guy from Eragon, when he was younger. I don't know much about him, but he is prettier than JCB. :)

I loved it, but I love Simon, but I think you should read it because there are going to be books after this one, and you don't want to miss out.

There were the:
*Completely disappointed in the book & Cassandra Clare. Mostly the reasons were because ‘Jace isn't himself and the plot isn't new, we have seen it in the others three books’
*Good but doesn't live up to CoG at all. Again, ‘Jace acting weird and the characters are a little off, not really there usual selves’
*Terrible. Speaks for itself...

So I want to know should I actually read it or will I be facing disappointment? Keep in mind I hate Simon and apparently the book is full of him and also the thing that makes the past three books so good to me is Jace. So if he isn't being his normal sarcastic, sexy self I don't want to waste my time since I'm perfectly capable to end the series at CoG in my mind.
