Combining Bug?

Ashley, I experienced the same problem. It's not a duplicate ISBN issue.
I can't figure out why there should be a problem.
That one in particular. I tried to separate with just one other edition and failed, even after trying your edit-and-save trick.
Also, I thought supers were supposed to be able to separate out the most popular edition. It wouldn't let me.

I agree, there must be something strange about this book - I was able to do the same thing (separate out 2 editions, merge the blank one, and recombine the correct one with the rest no problem) for another book. I thought it might have had something to do with the reviews switching over, but I guess not.
Curiouser and curiouser. Now it doesn't actually show up on the combine editions page at all, and trying to see what editions it is combined with (which should be none), gets the usual error message.
Anna, It is/was. And they can appear double on members' shelves too, looking as though there's more than one copy of the book on our shelves, but really there is only one and if the "duplicate" is deleted, the book is deleted. Sounds as though Godoreads is fixing it and that it appeared when Goodreads was updating things.See Otis's message # 9:

That bug was explained over in Feedback and is now fixed. This one is a corrupted record, I think. Last time MICHAEL had to fix it (or something very similar, anyway).
I finally realized that since the book had been neither shelved, rated, nor reviewed by anyone, I could delete the flaky record and re-import from Amazon.
Et voila!
Et voila!
*snort* Good catch. I never even though to go look at it, figuring if no one else could deal with it.
That's ok. You did catch the fact that I apparently can't read. ;)
(I merged them again last night, and then noticed that you had undone it the last time and really LOOKED at the book. Oops!)

Help! I'm trying to combine two editions, but neither of them show up on the combine page at the same time, though one or the other will. They have separate book pages. If I jump to the combine editions page from that book page, that edition will show up on the list, but not the other. These are their ISBNs: 0030174864 and the other: 080505024005. What's Wrong With Being Crabby, by Charles M Schulz.
Charles M Schulz is not the same as Charles M. Schulz. I merged the former into the latter. Try now.
I'm a new librarian so I want to be very clear on what and how to do things. I have spotted a problem where two different ISBNs for different books cancel each other out. If I add 0140067477: The Tao of Pooh, it adds but when I attempt to add 0140230165: The Te of Piglet, it switches to that book replacing Pooh. These are separate books and not a boxed set. I suspect they've been combined in error but I don't know how to separate them.Suggestions anyone?
Oh, I look forward to puttering about Goodreads with everyone. :)
Deb,Oh gosh. All the Piglet and Pooh books have been combined by accident.
if you want to work on them, go to the author's page, click combine editions, then at the bottom of the combined editions of Pooh and Piglet and at least one combined box set, there's a separate tool. If you click on that you can separate out the ones that don't belong and then combine those that belong.
If you need further instructions or would like another librarian to handle this one, you can just post here again.
It's not a huge book list so it shouldn't take too long to fix.
Okay, I got those two fixed...without busting anything. ;)I'm not sure about the non-English editions but I think I managed to work the rest out. If someone with more experience would double-check, I would appreciate it.
Thank you Lisa, I'll get the hang of this.
Deb, You might have gotten those 2. Thanks! The 3 different books were all still a cominbed mess: Pooh, Piglet, and boxed set with each. I've gotten most of those but there's some foreign language ones I'm almost sure are combined with the wrong book (Pooh in Piglet?) so if someone could check those and double check the whole batches too as I was doing three things at once, that would be great. Thanks.Deb, You'll definitely get the hang of it. Always learning new things here and some take a few tries. Thanks for helping!

Sorry, undefined method `reviews_count' for nil:NilClass
I had separated it out to combine with a blank edition, and then deleted the blank one to merge the reviews. That's what I got when trying to recombine it. Maybe someone else can combine them, but it won't do it for me.
