Sci-fi about a man whose mind is split 4 ways and sent to 4 planets [s]

Read this one ages ago, before 2002. I think the plot was that a man was a criminal, and his mind was split into four bodies to accomplish certain things on four different planets. It took him a while to figure out what was going on. Can't remember much detail, except that on one planet he was super-muscular. I thought the title was something like Lord of the Diamond, but the book that shows up when I search for that doesn't look right at all. I also seem to remember my mom telling me that the author usually wrote scarier books but that this had been written for his daughter? Thanks in advance!

Jack L Chalker- Four Lords of the Diamond series. Lilith: a Snake in the Grass; Cerberus: A Wolf in the Fold; Charon: A Dragon at the Gate; and Medusa: A Tiger by the Tail.

I wouldn't say Chalker was a scary author...but he was certainly...odd. Very odd sexual things just reappeared over and over in most of his books, though this series wasn't as bad as most of them for that.
