Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments Discuss the Hunger Games book here! What was your favorite part? Who is your favorite character? Spoilers ARE allowed, though, so watch out!

message 2: by drew (new)

drew (drewbeck) Well, I loved Prim and Rue, and my favorite parts were when they died (they needed a proper announcement) and when Peeta told Rue's family that they would give them some of the winner's earnings. (So thoughtful, for such a . . . . . can't think of a good word. . . .)

message 3: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments Rue was awesome...and yes, those too were my favorite parts. Yep, Peeta is thoughtful.

I liked the part when Katniss and Finnick and them were fighting off those mutant dogs in the third book

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments ...In the tunnels?

Do you think that Finnick might have been "good" for Katniss?

message 7: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments Yes, he was kind and loyal until the end *sniffles*

message 8: by drew (new)

drew (drewbeck) I agree.

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments I just Googled "hunger games" in Google Images and found the German book cover. It has a girl peering out of the leaves and the title is, "Die Tribute Von Panem".

message 10: by Cody (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 1415 comments Hmm that translates to "The Tribute from Panem"

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments lol. it was kinda obvious, Cody. :P No need to translate. I think that's a pretty catchy title. But then again so is the Hunger Games. I remember glancing at the Hunger Games book in the library and thinking it was like this one episode of Doctor Who where this whole planet was a game show thing and in order to live you had to win the game. haha. So when I picked it up(after putting off reading it several times) I was expecting it to be a total sci-fi 'girl places in reality tv show and if she doesn't play the game and answer the questions right she will DIE' sort of thing. :P If it had been called "The Tribute from Panem" I probably would have read the book months before I did! haha.

message 12: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments I know. It looks like "Die Tribute". Isn't that just ironic.
Eek! Spider!

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments haha. it is!
Mwahahaha. :P It was weird. I saw a completely white spider crawling along the sink towards me while I was doing the dishes earlier today. Totally creepy. Looked a lot like a dead daddy long leg.... O.O

message 14: by Cody (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 1415 comments Die in German is pronounced like dee... I take German lol... yeah it is obvious isn't it...

message 15: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments I know, but that's what it looks like.

message 16: by Cody (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 1415 comments Oh lol.

message 17: by tallfubar (new)

tallfubar (fallingfromresolution) Omg got the first book today; reading it now! Only up to page 64 but sooo gd! How could I have put this off till now?

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments I know! That's what I had thought when I picked it up! The first was my favorite.

message 19: by tallfubar (new)

tallfubar (fallingfromresolution) I think it's going to be mine, too. The first one is usually my fave, except in the case of HP books.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments Ah. Yeah, I liked the first Hunger Games book, then the third, then the second... I don't have a fav order for HP. I didn't like any after three. Four was OK, but I didn't like it as much as the first three....

message 21: by tallfubar (new)

tallfubar (fallingfromresolution) Yeah I didn't like the first one much after I read books 4 & up. For me this is the order of HP books: 6 5 4 3 1 2 7

I read 7 a lot but I didn't like it because THEY AREN'T IN HOGWARTS and you know i have noticed the books get darker and darker. IN ORDER. 1234567!!! eeeeeee

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments Very true... but there's so much teen drama in the books after three it's just pathetic.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments mhm. They just lost what made them different. And became... normal and not as good.

message 24: by Seraph (new)

Seraph What book are we talking about now exactly?

message 25: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments I found a mistake in Hunger Games. It says PeaceMAKERS when Katniss is in the Justice Building before she is taken to the Capitol.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments really? I don't remember noticing that..... O.O

message 27: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments I'm re-reading it. I notice stuff the second time through. XD

message 28: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments Hm, maybe it's only in my copy...there is this awesome series called Warriors and there are four authors who go by one pen name. They make so many mistakes. The best are gender blenders, when genders get mixed up.

tallfubar (fallingfromresolution) Ω♂Asa Oblivious♂ Ω wrote: "Agreed. They kinda veered from the whole magical world thing, and went into normal things. I experience them every day. Don't really care to read it as well."

It's pretty sad, isn't it? I'm finding I like the side book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them" better than HP 4-7.

message 30: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments I think it's funny that District Twelve's mayor's name is Mayor Undersee, not Oversee.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments hahahahahaha. That is. :D

message 32: by tallfubar (new)

tallfubar (fallingfromresolution) Yeah. :P

message 33: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments Sage just died probably the most goriest death EVER.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments OOOOH. I want to see!

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments The goriest? O.o Nah. That's not gory at all..... You should have seen Sage's death back in arena one(the first). Now that was gory....

message 36: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments I joined the group extension, I'll see if it's there.

message 37: by Seraph (new)

Seraph ... eep O.O

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments It's not. The group extension didn't exist back then.....

message 39: by drew (new)

drew (drewbeck) Group Extension? What's that?

message 40: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments Aw...

message 41: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments The extension is on the group description. It's where you can roleplay dead characters and Capitol and stuff.

message 42: by drew (new)

drew (drewbeck) Oh.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments Owl (Briaq) wrote: "Aw..."

Yeah.... Sage died back when I wasn't even in charge of the group. hehe. That seems sooo long ago.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 4557 comments It's amazing, isn't it?

message 45: by Ashly (new)

Ashly | 1 comments I LOVE the book!!!!!<3

message 46: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments Hunger Games is AMAZING. *tackle hugs book*

Arrgh, I think someone stole my Mockingjay pin.

message 47: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments I've read it through...three times...maybe? You know, the Games are absolutely horrible, but yet fascinating and exciting at the same time.

message 48: by Briaq (new)

Briaq (briaq) | 1251 comments LOL, a conversation with my mother the other day:
Mom (holding book Fire Bringer and reading the back): I don't like this book.
Me: Why not?
Mom: It's violent and scary.
Me (extremely sarcastic): Oh, happy Hunger Games, mother!

And I got a Hunger Games calendar for Christams :D

message 49: by tallfubar (new)

tallfubar (fallingfromresolution) HAAHA, "Oh, happy Hunger Games, mother!"

HAHAHAHHAHAAA!

My little brother wanted to read the Hunger Games... He's nine. I said, "how about no?"
