The Da Vinci Code
question
Did anyone else like it?
I liked it! It could be food for thought. The axiomatic concept that all of Jesus' disciples and acolytes were all male should rightfully be challenged.
I thought it was an excellent book. The only problem was that I was able to figure out the end too soon. But then I thought that there was no way it could be that easy. So...I was kind of disappointed at the ending. But I still liked the book a lot. I think the book was better than the movie. Most books are better than the movies though.

Yes, I liked it too. I found it exciting and moved fast. Loved reading it.
This was a book that lived up to the media hype, IMO. A TRUE page turner! I read it when it came out and before there was even a movie in the works. (Movie version ended up sucking, btw, but what else is new?)I read it in a few days because I couldn't put it down.
I thought it was silly. Pulp fiction has it's place, but I'd rather read something more creative than this cookie cutter action/adventure story.
Angels and Demons was by far the better book. DVC got overhyped solely because of its distasteful subject matter. Neither was the concept too original, by the way, Robert Ludlum came up with a much more compelling story along similar lines in The Gemini Contenders. I read and enjoyed DVC before all the hype began, it's a cleverly written book, but the hype grew out of proportion for all the wrong reasons and spawned so many copycats that in the end it left a sour taste.
I love it so much. I hate classical novel but except this one. At firstly I just read a simplified version of it for school. It didn't sound interesting until I watched the BBC version (2007) of it. Then I completely fell for it and read the book twice.

@Pam I think 'TDC' is a decent potboiler and summer beach read but hardly worthy of becoming a publishing phenomenon. My sister pointed out that peopl

I liked it ... until I read the other novels by Dan Browm and discovered, that it is all the same.
yeah! I love it, especially the character of Sophie. She is strong and intellegent, while Langdon is well, Langdon, knowledgeable and bookish. I love how the plot unwinds and everything fits in the end, I'm just sad that Sophie could never say that she understand him now, to her grandfather.
Most of the historical "mysteries" depend on a kind of uber-secret society of one type or the other trying to bring about the "End of things as we know them." I know most at best are jumped up campfire tales of the scary dark outside the cave. I've liked quite a few of these type novels just because they twigged me to some historical oddities I didn't know about.
The DaVinci Code didn't really turn up any new ground. The "Sang Real" legend has been around for a long time. I'd give it a 3 out of 10 score, if just for the sexual statutory implications in the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa story. SWow, who knew?

It's been quite a while since I read it, but it was definitely a page-turner. I thought it was well written and it certainly peaked my interest.
At first I found it super confusing but then the further you read on the more I understood the story. The movie is nothing like the book. The book is way more intense than the movie.
I loved this book. It's full of suspense, cliff hangers, surprises. And it's a NOVEL, not a book about history or religion.
Personally, I loved the book, but thought Angels and Demons was better. In fact I do plan to read Lost Symbol.

I didn't like this book at all. As a matter of fact, I didn't even finish it. I had absolutely no interest in seeing the movie.
I think this book is more hyped up then it should be.
For some strange reason, I think that everyone in the world has read/heard about/watched the movie The Davinci Code. But really, does popularity make it any better then it should be?
Absoloutely not.
Even though I found this book informative, informational and somehwta entertaining at times it was as boring as hell. The author would spend 100= pages at the Louvre discussing one dead body and then suddenly jump to a bank or a car where he would spend excessive amounts of time explaining memories or something that really has no importance.
I know that I'm a bit to young to be reading this book, but i was just curious. My parents loved it, and I couldn't help but ask "why do you like it so much?"
Ahh well. It was alright.

It just highlights different people's views on books doesn't it?
I absolutely loved it and am always flabbergasted by people who condemn it.
I also thought Angels and Demons was excellent too.

I liked the book, and thought the plot was interwoven with symbolism nicely, but that's coming from someone who doesn't know squat about symbolism in the first place.

I always loved this book, it grabs hold of you and takes you with it. I may not be the most groundbreaking piece of literature ever, but it is damn good.
I also read Angels and Demons before I went on a trip to Rome a few years back and it was even better after having visited most of the sites in the book. Very cool.

I liked it (especially the art history) but didn't really appreciate the formula style after reading Angels and Demons. I think each book needs to be more unique, JMO.
I loved this book, I found it a really entertaining read....wish the film was better tho
I feel that half of the people that hate this book hate it because it's the "in" thing to go against the grain. I'll clue you in, you're not more of an individual because you dislike what's popular. There's a reason why this book is so widely renowned, and it's not because it sucks.
For those that actually disliked it because you just plain didn't enjoy it, good for you. That comes with any form of entertainment, and you, like everyone else are entitled to your opinion.
The Da Vinci Code does exactly what it's suppose to. Dan Brown provides a thrilling page turner while at the same time presenting the reader with a different and interesting look at Christianity. And for this I think that The Da Vinci Code is brilliantly written.

It was a good read. I read it in the week the movie came out. I thought the movie did not live up to the book but it was worth admission and soda pop. I could not get myself to read Angels and Demon though.
Average, average. Definitely overrated. I was so disappointed after all the broo-ha-ha.
