I have not read this book. It was in one of those "I want to read it ... it sounds good, but there are so many other books first. But I have follwed the recent controvery over about the author and how much is true. For those of you who have read it, what do you think about what is going on in the news? It saddens me that the whole discussion has come up.

I read Three Cups of Tea and Stones Into Schools. I really liked both of them. I love the concept of fighting with books, not bombs. I totally agree that education can be a big factor in people's lives and the people in Pakistan and Afghanistan need schools. As far as the controversy about funding, Greg is pretty up front in his books that he is not a business person and that he had trouble with the whole business end of running the charity. I don't doubt that things are not run perfectly in his group. However, I doubt that any charitable organization is run totally perfectly. I am sure that Greg could use some assistance in running his charity more correctly, but I don't think he has or had any wrong intentions.

Well, 60 Minutes, and 1/2 the people in America, think that he is a fraud...

It's a great book, true or not, it doesn't matter. if the story true, than it's a non fiction book, if the story fake, than just put it as a fiction book.

just that simple.

all we need to take from every book that we read is how to take a positive side for ourselves... ;)

Even if he didn't accomplish as much as he thought, or exaggerated it... think of what he accomplished... not overall... But how much it means to the people in each of these villages.

Even if the book overall was fake...I seriously think this would be a great historical FICTION book. I think Greg had a great vision and heart... This book really makes you think about how much you can change the book. Instead of finding all the mistakes in his work... We can find all the good, positive characteristics and everything he did right.
