I'm the assistant of a jerk who thinks I'm as dumb as a box of rocks. Anyone else really hate their job?

I know it's good just to be working, that is why I am sticking it out, but I just wish I could find a job that didn't make me feel like crap when I walk in the door in the morning. I miss my old job, it just didn't pay enough to survive.
There are many days...I substitute teach. Some days I really enjoy, other days are hell. The one constant is that every day is like the first day on a new job, and that's pretty stressful.
My wife likes what she does, but hates the company environment. In her opinion, most of the people working there "just don't care anymore," and are sticking around only for the flight benefits (she works for an airline). Also, much of the watercooler talk is about what the prophet said, or gossip about relief society. Gag!
Try not to focus on your boss or the way he tries to make you feel, Amber. Find something inside yourself that makes you happy and focus on that.

I usually think of watercoolers as the place to talk about last night's TV.
I ended up quitting my last job because of stress-there was one person (not my boss but she had power) who was a control freak and made my life so miserable that I started having migraines.I decided I just couldn't continue there.
Soon after that, my son became part of a new program so I am now employed by him as a personal care provider (It's really a 24/7 job but there is no way I could have stayed home financially without it) I feel lucky to be able to do this even though it feels weird to be paid for something I would do anyway.
At the same time, I know my son is being taken care of and the alternative would be horrible (nursing home).
So not to get off on my tangent but I can totally understand your feelings Amber.

There's an LDS general conference in SLC twice each year, at which the prophet and several members of the quorum of the 12 speak to all mormons. It's a HUGE deal where I live, and they talk about it for the next month or so. The latest one was earlier this month, so.......
Barb wrote: "I'm a project manager for an environmental lab - which I do from the comfort of my home."That sounds like a pretty sweet set-up. I've always wondered just what a project manager does. The company I work for is very small, so I've actually had to sign my name as a project manager on some documents (another reason I really don't like it here- I despise lying), and I'm never quite sure what it means.
I have a friend who does that at my old job and there he's called a "contract administrator." Yours sounds better.
I love my job. My schedule is extremely flexible. If I need to run an errand while at work I can. They place the family as being your first priority so if you need to go get your kids from school/daycare and have them with you for a while it is ok.I would love to get paid more, but if I'm being honest I think my pay does reflect my job duties.
