Read in honor of Halloween. Good but was expecting more action and less telling. Storytelling through journal (diary) format is not my favorite.

96. Prey by Linda Howard Prey 2 1/2* 323 pages

Not one of her best books. Hope she's just going through a rut.

97. New York to Dallas (In Death, #33) by J.D. Robb New York to Dallas 4* 402 pages

Well worth the wait for a library copy. Love Eve & Roarke.

98. Eighth Grade Bites (The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, #1) by Heather Brewer Eighth Grade Bites 2 1/2* 182 pages

A middle school read (read it to check it out for my daughter). It was okay, very mild. Definitely not an adult read.

99. The Unquiet by J.D. Robb The Unquiet
2* 408 pages

Holy cow! Utterly horrible stories with the exception of the Robb short story. That's the only reason it got any stars.

Hoping book 100 is good.

Lillie | 84 comments 100. The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi The Windup Girl 2* 359 pages

Really wanted to like this one more. It's the type fantasy that I like, a dystopian society set in the near future. But it has 4 narrators, 3 too many. The only one I was interested in was the title character, Emiko, the windup girl. If the story had centered solely on her it could've been a 5-star book.

101. Cut, Paste, Kill (Lomax & Biggs, #4) by Marshall Karp Cut, Paste, Kill 2 1/2* 304 pages

Light mystery with humor. Not as good as his earlier ones.

102. The Devil's Star by Jo Nesbo The Devil's Star 3* 544 pages

I'm glad the Tom Waaler issue has been resolved.

103. The Redeemer (Harry Hole book, #6) by Jo Nesbø The Redeemer 3 1/2* 571 pages

Surprisingly slow and all over the place but still enjoyable.

A very sweet novel set in North Carolina with elements of magic in it. This author reminds me very much of Alice Hoffman.

Lillie | 84 comments 105. The Vanishing of Katharina Linden by Helen Grant The Vanishing of Katharina Linden 4 1/2* 304 pages

Finished on 12/22.
Loved this book! The writing was wonderful. Was hesitant about the story and where it was going but I couldn't stop reading. And I'm glad I didn't! It grabbed a hold of me and wouldn't let go. Highly recommend it.
