Susan Adams (goodreadscomthebooklady) | 7 comments I like the "message" of the book but it sometimes drags. The main character learns he can be who he wants to be with some effort and that it is okay to take himself, school, his relationship with his girlfriend, etc. seriously. I do like that the book has Hispanic characters -- one of our growing student populations.

Karen (many_pages) I agree. Our students also love "Perfect Chemistry" and the ones that follow it, largely due to the Hispanic characters.

Laura I think this would be a great book for teachers to read - Eduardo Corazon has a lot to say to the adults in his life. I don't know if it will appeal to students - although Perfect Chemistry is popular at our school, too.

We had several of our top honors kids reading this one during the spring. after reading it I am surprised. Maybe the lure is the urban lit feel or language. I dunno. But they loved it. I can see it working as a class novel, but with the language, it'd be a tough sell for required reading. It could fly as an option for a smaller group though.
