janine | 7709 comments I've been listening to Gus's shebang - I've listened to most of them already to be honest, I'm way behind on reviewing.

I like the 'odd' associations which I don't think are that odd. Though as far as I've seen no one has used Don't Stand So Close To Me, so you could have just used that :) Except that you shouldn't have, this idea was much better.

I didn't know most of the songs on this shebang, but I've come to like a lot of them. I like You Dropped A Bomb On Me, it's a good first song, but the video is hilariously bad. Other likes: Feel Good Hit Of The Summer, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be, Excitable Boy, Gymnopedie No.1, which I was surprised I liked & I Want You.

Phil | 11837 comments I'm just giggling that Gus listens to "You Dropped a Bomb on Me."

That's because that song is stupidly awesome. Great beat, a hook that reels you in, and those dopey bomb-dropping sound effects kill me every time.

janine | 7709 comments Exactly.

I used that song for Slaughterhouse Five, but now I'm kicking myself for not using it for Gravity's Rainbow.

Sarah | 13814 comments I considered a theme of bands named for literary references, in which case the 90s Atlanta band Billy Pilgrim would have been my Slaughterhouse Five. I liked them. One of them is now in Sugarland.

Yes, I did; Sky Saw by Brian Eno.

Sarah | 13814 comments Yay!
I'm still having trouble with my car CD player, so I haven't listened to nearly as much as I'd like yet, but I've admired the artwork and the playlists.

and Gus' makes great car music.

Funny you should say that, because my mix is the only thing I've been listening to in my car recently.

Sarah | 13814 comments Yay! Thanks, Barb! Coax Me came out when we were in high school and I didn't like it then, but it grew on me over the years. I owe Sloan an apology. Great power-pop.

janine | 7709 comments The past few days I've been listening to Janice's shebang with songs inspired by Lord of the Rings. It reminds me of when I was sixteen and went on a school trip to London. Half the girls were obsessed with Orlando Bloom (not me, I liked Viggo Mortensen) and brought along their LotR soundtracks to listen to. I mimicked the hairstyles of the elves.

Favourites: Into The West (of course), The Ents' Marching Song (I've always liked the ents), The End of Summer, The Bards Song and Ride a White Swan.

I liked both Orland and Viggo. :) I meant to bring all the shebangs with me for my holiday and forgot them in my office. :(

janine | 7709 comments Misha's bonus shebang: this is exactly the right way to make me forget how long I waited for this round of shebangs to arrive. I like the title and cover art. Favourites: Electric Barbarella, The Last Astronaut, Wandering Star, Cosy In The Rocket, Tears From The Moon, Computer Machine.

Sarah | 13814 comments Misha, I just listened to your Literary Impressions shebang. Nice!
Highlights.
Great start with three great songs that I love.
I've never heard of The Like, but I really enjoyed that song.
I've heard of Broken Bells but I get them confused with Sleigh Bells. I liked that song a lot too.
I like Muse best in songs like this one, where they are trying to sound like Radiohead.
Lastly, the guitar solo in This Fine Social Scene was lots of fun. It totally surprised me.

Sarah | 13814 comments I like the thematic connections with actual books, though. That takes a lot more thought and effort than what I did.

janine | 7709 comments I've been listening to Sarah's shebang and I pretty much love everything on it. Here's an edited list of favourites: Everything Bounces (Love! Road Runner was always one of my favourites, as a kid I had shorts with a sqeaky toy Road Runner face on them, or maybe it was Woodpecker, I'm not entirely sure), Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead, Carpetbaggers, The Wild One, Heroes & Villains, Is There A Ghost, Starman, Hang Me Up To Dry, I'm Shakin'.

janine | 7709 comments Britt's shebang: The Good-Morrow. I really like the theme, it's something I would never have thought of (and would never have combined with Britney Spears) but it works. I've used it as my early morning dance routine (wake up-dance, breakfast through slower songs, dance some more, get dressed). Favourites: I Don't Feel Like Dancing, Pressing On, Too Afraid To Love You, Silver Lining, Cosmic Love, Daylight, Tightrope, This Land Is Your Land.

janine | 7709 comments Alright, just three more shebangs.

First Barb's Lit+Tunes shebang. Favourites include: Battle Of Evermore, Horses, Lodestar, Army Of Me, My Baby Loves A Bunch Of Authors and Bird On A Wire.

Jackie's Space: The Vinyl Frontier. Favourites: The Blob, Planet Claire, In Space, Comfort Eagle, Surfing On A Rocket and Pilots.

Favourites from Misha's Literary Impressions: Crescent Moon, Left To My Own Devices, Narcissus In A Red Dress, Sailing To Nowhere, Mexico and This Fine Social Scene.

I loved listening to all of your shebangs!

Sarah | 13814 comments I'm hoping to catch up while driving next week. I was just thinking about these this morning. I've had Barb's in my CD player for months but I've mostly been listening to NPR.
