Ah, une autre Francophone! Bienvenue!

I actually have a book coming out in July called Once in a Lifetime set entirely in Grenoble. I'm pretty sure it's as much about my love affair with France as it is about Shane's love affair with a Frenchman. *grin*

message 104: by Lasha (new)

Lasha (mslasha) I started writing romance when I was 12, but not m/m romance. That started about seven years ago when I got sucked into reading LOTR..."

I was always more of a Legolas and Gimli girl - I love the books more than the movies. But I understand about Aragorn. :)

That's an interesting idea. Have you tried Cut & Run? Ty is pretty good at demolition. It's not mine, but I highly recommend it.

I can do Legolas and Gimli. *grin* I came to the books via the movies, and I was in love with Aragorn from the first glimpse of him in the Prancing Pony in Bree.

Once in a Lifetime is the story of Shane Johnson who has the opportunity to go to France for a year post-college to work as a research assistant in a bio-medical lab in Grenoble. He has only come out a few months before and is determined to use his year abroad to learn how to live his life as a gay man.

Here's the tentative blurb.

Offered a year-long medical research fellowship in France, Shane Johnson has many hopes for the experience: a chance to improve his French, a chance to hone his research skills before starting his PhD at Baylor, and a chance to live life as an openly gay man for the first time. His year will bring challenges, victories and setbacks as he struggles to balance his faith with his sexuality.

As he navigates the shoals of a first kiss, a first relationship, and perhaps even love, Shane will have to balance his new-found emotions with his long-term plans and decide how his once-in-a-lifetime experience will fit into the life he wants to lead.

Wendy❤Ann (wluvsbooks) | 59 comments Contest 1

I'm kind of partial to animals and haven't seen much in the way of books dealing with animal professions other than Cowboys or Veterinarians. How about animal rescue, or wildlife rehabilitation, or an animal trainer (loved the movie "The Horse Whisperer" and the TV series "The Dog Whisperer").

message 116: by Lena (new)

Lena Grey My pleasure. I'd like to stay the whole time but made it through three hours. That's not too bad. I always enjoy our chats.

You might give Sutcliffe Cove a try. One of the characters raises horses. I like the other ideas as well. Something to spark my muses maybe.

I don't have an exact date, but I know it's slated for July. I'll definitely post more information about it as I hear more specific info, and of course share the cover once that's available.

I hope you'll enjoy it! Madeleine and I wanted something light after finishing another project, not yet published, that was very intense and very dark in places. Brett and Gerald were a lot of fun to write.

message 123: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (arieltachna) | 81 comments Wendy wrote: "Ariel: On average, how much time do you devote to writing on a daily basis?"

I spend anywhere from an hour to about eight writing, depending on the day and whether the kids are at school and what I have going on as Social Networking Coordinator for Dreamspinner Press. And depending on whether the story will let me do anything else, because sometimes it doesn't.

How do you work through writer's block?"

Nicki is my solution to writer's block. *grin* Usually if I have writer's block, it' because I've tried to make the characters do something they don't want to do. Nicki can usually pick out where things went off track and help me get the proceedings back where they belong.

A change of scenery also helps.

message 130: by Wendy❤Ann (new)

message 131: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (arieltachna) | 81 comments Jessica wrote: "Ariel : what do your husband think about your books ? your familly ?"

My husband has no interest in reading my books, but because they're romances, not because they're m/m. He sees the pleasure I get from writing and so is supportive in that respect.

My children are too young to know more than that Mama spends a lot of time at the computer.

The rest of my family ranges from bemused to supportive.

Ariel (arieltachna) | 81 comments Wendy wrote: "Ariel: What has been the most rewarding experience you've had with a reader of your books?"

That's a great question. There have been so many, but the woman who e-mailed me because she had enrolled her son in horseback riding lessons after reading Sutcliffe Cove and then watched him go from shy to confident, not just in the ring but outside as well, really touched me.

message 137: by Jessica (new)

i'm happy about the discussions but for me it's late. I say you good bye.
