About language in book's title.

I believe that the especific language of the edition should be marked below in the details (primary language) and not in the very title of the book. The parenthesis in title is for especifiying the series which the book is due, also, the translated title can refer directly to the language of that book just by itself (i.e. La divina comedia, One hundred years of solitude, etc).

Yes, the language in the title is generally coming from bad data entered elsewhere; it should be removed from the title and put in the primary language field when you find a book like this.

We actually have a new way of specifying series now, so there's no need to put them in the title field either, although they should be left there for now and not removed even when the series information is put in the new series fields.

The title field should also not show the original title for a translated book -- there is an original title field for that as well, and only the title of the translated edition needs to be in the title field.

As you can see, we get a lot of badly formatted data from Amazon and B&N. :)

"Primary language" is a little misleading -- I think it means what mostly appears in the title being entered; but that is not the "primary" language of the entire work. E.g., Compartiment tueurs by Japrisot. There is some cleanup needed between that and the two different English publications of the Francis Price translation. But I'm too new here to know exactly how to fix it.

I think Samuel's concern is a title that appears like this: Harry Potter y las reliquias de la muerte/ Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows (Spanish Edition) [Hardcover]. Everything but the appropriate language title should be removed, so this book's title would be Harry Potter y las reliquias de la muerte, and the primary language would be Spanish.

You are correct that there is no place to put the language of the original publication. If you look at the "Edit Book page" it is separated into two sections. The first isn't labeled, but pertains to the specific edition of the book. The second is labeled "Work Settings" and "applies to all books in work" (where the "work" is a group of combined editions).

What exactly is the issue with the editions of Compartiment tueurs? I'm looking at them but they seem okay to me?
